Dare I say the ASA are a chocolate fireguard
The ASA exists to help protect consumers but when you complain you get either1 No response2 A response saying that your complaint falls outside their remit Their catchphrase in ads is legal honest decent truthful Unfortunately their own adverts promoting the ASA are anything but

Refused to update me on my case
I wonder what the ASA believe Standards mean in their tittle Clearly not upholding moral or social responsibility standards or protecting younger children from adult content which is what my complaint was raised to do TV add containing adult language content on multiple mainstream TV channels airing WELL before the watershed The ASA sent me a summary of their reason for rejecting my complaint very worryingly their review didn t touch on the need to preserve younger children s innocence I think most of us would agree that all children need a childhood innocence in younger children needs preserving for as long as possible words used in their presence be that spoken or written should reflect this The ASA s inability to do the right thing needs escalating I m aware Trading Standards are the ASA s legal backstop on the non-broadcast side while Ofcom are the ASA s legal backstop on the broadcast side In which case surely it should be possible to escalate ASA failings to one of them if not them who but as is the modern way it s not possible for the public to contact either organisation to do so What a complete mess this whole set-up is

Have a look at my other review
I contacted the Advertising Standards Authority to ask how to raise a complaint about an advertising issue that is not covered on their website They ignored my request I contacted them a second time They ignored my request again To try to provoke a response from them I asked them if they did common courtesy They ignored that message as well I sent them a sample of what I wanted to complain about They ignored that To try a second time to prompt a response I used their complaints-about-adverts process to complain about their own adverts in which they said they valued contact about adverts and treated them seriously This process generated a case number that they had to deal with but they ignored that as well Finally I contacted them again to ask what their complaints process about themselves was They ignored that That s four requests for information and two digs to try to prompt a response All six completely ignored Rude and unprofessional from a totally disinterested organisation I have nowhere else to go as they police themselves Utterly shameful and disrespectful of the organisation and its staff

ASA Ombudsman what a waste a time they don t look into complaints should be removed as an ombudsman scheme
This is what the ombudsman said regarding my complaint Please be assured that we will always act when our assessment indicates that the advertising rules have been broken and will let you know if we do intervene If we decide that our resources need to be directed towards other issues just now we won t reply with an outcome or update you further You have ignored my complaint and I feel I ve wasted my time and energy making my complaint and you have not followed through to remove a misleading TV advert Your ombudsman company should be shut down with immediate effect because it is useless and as much use as chocolate fire guard

This agency are Hypocrites they falsely advertise while stating they prevent companies from doing so
The ASA are currently doing an advertising campaign on tv and radio about how they screen adverts to make sure they are legal decent honest and truthful and compliant with the advertising codes the knowingly all millions of adverts per year to be published that are misleading in relation to used cars and not stating if they were commercially used or owned They are mis-advertising themselves will they investigate thier own ads for misleading consumers They do not ensure ads are legal decent honest and truthful as the promise as they made the following ruling against Glyn Hopkins and Fiats Chrysler corporation and the entire motor industryThis was upheld against the entire motor industry not one motor manufacturer or trader has complied with the ruling and the ASA refuses to enforce non compliance with the ruling supposedly because of the amount of money the ASA gets from the motor industry s advertising revenue Try not to tell others to comply with advertising regulations if you are not prepared to do so yourselves

Corrupt ASA
They are funded by the advertisers so they are not going to be impartial and worse they would not register the complaint despite Samsung being subject to a lot of complaints online about their cashback schemes So you complain to the A S A and they said they were not interested Then you escalate the complaint and its a senior manager within the A S A who reviews the complaint so nobody impartial or outside the A S A How can you not even register a complaint irrespective of whether you investigate it or not So what happens Samsung and other companies like them have understated complaints and the ASA continue to get funding from the advertisers It really is corrupt WIll take it up with my MP but nothing will change

A poor service from beginning to end
A poor service from beginning to end A distinct lack of commitment to the complainer s concerns Felt fobbed off when they would not follow-up further concerns Inappropriate referral by them of my case to the Financial Conduct Authority who immediately declined any jurisdiction in the matter of the advert I was concerned about A complaint against the ASA iself has to be made within 21 days of receiving their decision - this is too short a time and it doesn t take into consideration that the complaint against the ASA might not be about their actual decision but about their general way of dealing with a member of the public using their service I am still waiting on a response to an email I sent to them several weeks ago
