Previous employee The Beer House previously named the Norloch Bar is a franchise being run by the SSP Group This means although they have the brand name like MacDonalds M S etc with in the train station your actually employed by the SSP Group which run all the food outlets in airports and train stations Before starting you sit many health and safety online courses On starting the job you find out that they follow none of them I only worked there 9 days and tried to complain to improve conditions but they act like a gang at all management levels and ive met them all being through a 3 step complaints procedure and fired me for it accusing me of being argumentative I went through Expolink and Acas and you really have to ask what are these agencies for they are a sham SSP group offered me 300 compensation and wouldn t put there hands up to any liability I had my benefits suspended for a bit because of their accusation but got them reinstated when I offered to provide evidence I was one step from taking them to a court tribunal but as you only have 1 month to do so and it ran over Christmas I missed the narrow window of opportunity I recorded all the evidence I needed on my mobile phone and even all the complaints proceedings it would be terrifying to a customer if they saw how this company operates even at high management levels and I intend to let them see it in good time The blatant disregard for health and safety in these establishments has undoubtedly led to multiple food poisonings I never let on to the management or anyone else in there that I had been recording and its plane as day from the evidence I have that they fired me to hide their own health and safety breaches and the head area manager even said on firing me that it was time to reshuffle his staff They ll be hearing from me even if its to my own detriment check out SSP group at glassdoor co uk

Run by nasty people
Got assigned to the Grain Loft in Manchester Airport working under Karen Hambleton Hitchen No organisation to the bar At end of shift you d be told they needed you to stay longer cause of short staffing resulting in 12 hour shifts most days Shift times also crept earlier and earlier to the point where I was essentially doing a night shift starting at 11pm and finishing at 11am the next morning Management would generally sit eating sausage and bacon rolls all shift gossiping with each other about employees we were only allowed food during break and only if it was purchased Worked there for 6 months and should have left much sooner the final straw was witnessing the bullying of a young girl who was clearly going through some personal issues at home and was struggling to cope with it After a few unsavoury comments behind her back by Karen the young girl one day rang in sick It was at this point I witnessed the horrifying torment of the girl being unknowingly placed on speaker phone to the managers in public view of other staff She was then mocked and berated I never saw her again but I hope where ever she is that she s doing ok

Terrible service from a terrible company
I had a terrible experience at the SSP-run M S at Gatwick airport recently Very rude patronising and condescending staff which was a surprise at the time because I thought it was unusual for M S staff but I then found out that it is just an M S franchise run by SSP Terrible service from a terrible company

Lack of customer service and rude management
I have always associated Marks Spencer with quality products and a high standard of customer service so my recent experience at the M S store in Manchester Piccadilly train station was both surprising and disappointing From the moment I walked in the customer service was lacking The staff including the management team were not only unhelpful but shockingly rude Instead of the friendly and welcoming atmosphere I ve come to expect from M S the attitude in this store felt dismissive and unprofessional To make matters worse I found multiple items on the shelves that were out of date This is not only concerning from a health perspective but also reflects poorly on M S s reputation for fresh quality food It left me wondering where are the M S values of quality and customer care This franchise seriously needs attention and oversight from M S headquarters As a loyal customer it s disappointing to see the brand s standards not upheld here I hope M S takes action to improve the experience at this location it s a real letdown for anyone expecting the usual M S quality and service

At Stockholm Airport
At Stockholm Airport their computer system did not print receipt of sale took the 736KR out of my account The system then did not communicate with the other computer to show order NOT MY FAULT So because it wasn t on the service computer they could not acknowledge the order When asked for full refund as we are traveling home NO WAY they could not do To say we are extremely pi ed is an understatement Let s hope after emails back forth with the manager we get our back Signed off by never returning customer
