Just cancelled my policy today as I had sold the property and hit with a 50 cancellation fee plus other fees total 127 to cancel when my monthly premium was only 49 Daylight robbery

I was insured with Home Protect for 8

I was insured with Home Protect for 8 years until today Never again I cancelled my insurance due to underhand tactics to charge me more for my policy due to their own errors The company simply does not speak English they deal in riddles and so many get out clauses their service is worthless I could not get a straight conversation with their representative today There are many more insurers out there who provide a much clearer and friendlier and honest service out there I wont touch this company again and suggest that anyone considering them looks elsewhere also I shall write a more detailed and scathing review when I have more time but wanted to put up this warning immediately to hopefully avoid others considering using them from having the same awful experience

Absolutely APPALLING

Absolutely APPALLING After needing to make a claim in December and having them agree our entitlement and make an offer 1 5 months ago I am STILL waiting for the money to be paid to us This is regardless of many many attempts to chase the payment up and having been assured multiple times by their colleagues at claims consortium that the payment would be with me in a few days They are now ignoring all calls and emails to both claims consortium AND Home Protect and don t even get me started on the useless online chat service in the home protect website who can t even give you an alternative number to try when theirs isn t working OR ask someone to call you back This is a MASSIVE stressful headache that is far from being resolved They ll take your money but don t care less about you if you need to actually claim

Con Artists - Be Aware

Tried to claim for a TV which was damaged due to it being accidentally knocked off it s stand Once again we had to wait weeks for a response when we finally got a response we were asked to be 99 excess 250 excess I only signed up for a 99 excess and the additional access was a hidden fee Spoke to a member of their team and they were unable to explain this hidden excess I have escalated the matter to the complaints team and I will be leaving this awful company This company are a bunch of con artists and will NOT PAY OUT A CLAIM You have been warned Run away

Took renewal payment after insurance was confirmed as cancelled

I cancelled my policy with Home Protect before my renewal date and even had the confirmation email to say my insurance would end Then I discovered that Home Protect have taken 450 from my bank and sent me a later email saying I have renewed I have raised a complaint but still waiting for them to come back to me

Misleading Website

The company advertises various types of home insurance one being uninhabitable whilst it undergoes repairs On speaking with them the guy said they don t do this Perhaps a more accurate website might be more helpful than one that offers services they don t provide

Poor customer services

Renewed and payed for my building and contents insurance but cannot get customer services to send out my policy documents Amy just refuses to respond to emails or send required insurance policy thinking about cancelling for this year Reply received to say policy documents have been emailed yes they did they sent last years documents They need to get some customer services staff that are capable of doing the job

Nightmare to cancel auto renewal

Renewal 70 increase when no claims made but most annoying thing of all especially for a online company is that even after passing security you are forced into a 15 minute live chat to cancel auto renewal

Scam of a company The cost to cancel a policy which was advertised as being ideal for people selling an empty property was extortionate The policy was sold as being a month on month policy which was easy to cancel once the house was sold They then hid behind policy wording when it came to cancelling once it had sold Will never use them again for anything

No way to update policy online

No way to update policy onlineWhy would I send my policy number if I do that are you going to upgrade your services so they are inline with consumer expectations and up to date with technology I severely doubt that You re operating 20 years in the past Which is kind of funny as according to google you were founded in 2002 so I m guessing you haven t substantially improved your online services since then I think I m just going to find another policy I cannot subscribe to this nonsense Edit After talking with them I can confirm this company is one to avoid like the plague the company is evil
