Ordered the insurance Some questions were quite hard to answer Everything is done online but I would have liked something posted to me afterwards The price is very good compared to other providers

I was sent a renewal paper

I was sent a renewal paper I had to make a minor change which increased the premium significantly The individual I spoke to agreed with me the increase was unreasonable so said he would arrange 15 cash back which I haven t received

Difficult to use website and documents

When we originally took our policy out last year we had accidentally listed ourselves as the landlords rather than tenants The website didn t make it obvious that there were two separate options for these even when we checked back after realising Our policy documents also didn t state that we were listed as the landlords so we would never have realised

Good user-friendly website let down by no flexibility to choose cover

A good user-friendly well designed website but not enough flexibility in customising the insurance to meet my needs There should be the option to pay more to obtain cover for specific risks that are excluded in the standard quote on an itemised risk by risk basis As a result I have ended up with sub-optimal cover that doesn t meet my demands and needs to use the insurance industry terminology

No notification that insurance was coming to an end

We were already insured with Homeprotect but they didn t bother sending us any notification that our insurance was due for renewal It was only when I was prompted by the search site I had used that I knew it was due Otherwise I think they would just have taken the money without saying anything Never had that experience with any company before Would have marked them lower for that but the price was competetive

The premium charged was reasonable

The premium charged was reasonable offered cover for an unoccupied dwelling which needs alterations to be done The staff were polite patient in trying to give me a quotation However even though I said that alterations needed to be done this could not be written into the policy instead I need to give details of each firm s start date estimate completion date for 25 each time I had hoped to provide details of the work to be carried out and an estimate of the total cost

Excellent Customer Service BUT 100

Excellent Customer Service BUT 100 admin feesFirstly Macauley Barr in customer service was excellent and a fantastic example of what good customer service looks like - thank you Macauley I had a 3 month policy with Homeprotect to cover my house while it was being sold I took out the policy on the website so I did the admin for free The policy was paid in full for 212 53 and after three months when I sold the property I get a refund of 88 54 I was charged 100 in admin fees this is extortionate The vast majority of these admin fees is pure profit as I doubt that Homeprotect are paying their admin staff anything like the price I have paid for some admin which I did myself Given this I am surprised at how good their customer service was Homeprotect needs to look at their obscene charges as clearly I m not the first customer to raise this as an issue - please see other Trustpilot reviews

Poor After-sales Service

I recently took out a domestic buildings insurance policy with Homeprotect That process was quick and easy However having read the policy document in detail there were some issues I wanted to bring to their attention mainly for the avoidance of doubt on either side Despite sending several successive emails to different addresses provided by their telephone staff none were answered or even acknowledged so finally I put in a complaint via their website This had promised a response with 2 days max we re now at four days without any reply so in order to protect myself I ve had to resort to a recorded delivery letter to their MD At the moment this feels like a company who are totally focussed on sales but little or no subsequent service I am unlikely to be using them again
