Bad refund policy and email only communication

I have been a member of this site for a while now and have found taking the courses such a frustrating experience Huge numbers of the courses are text heavy so not very accessible for users with reading disabilities and also it can be a fatiguing experience just completing a lesson A number of the other courses are almost exclusively video content which is fine if they actually played properly I am running these courses on a 100mb connection and have to leave the video buffering and do some other tasks for quite a while before they are even playable When you consider I have to do this each time if have to answer just a couple of questions I have wasted hours of my day to simply complete one lesson Ironically I found that at least one video on the accessibility course contained no subtitle option so had i not been able to listen to the video I wouldn t have been able to complete the course A couple of the questions asked on one course I took did not actually seem to directly match up with a statement made in the video so I was left floundering as to how i would know the correct answer without either guessing or going back and having to take the course again now I know the answer and wait several weeks to be able to complete it again due to the stupid decision to limit access to lessons in courses to a set number of weeks I don t feel I have got the value promised out of this service and am very surprised to see how often it is held up as a gold standard for UX courses as it fails to live up to the hype in my experience As it stands I am not sure if I would bother paying for another year when my subscription runs out If the service just improved access to lessons don t make me wait mixed up the medium used for the course more often and improved performance I would be sure that this would offer much more of what it promises

Good content but terrible billing

I ve been billed for a membership I don t want and have not used it benefitted from in years Watch out - this organization provides only an online contact form or email and I ve been trying for several days and have gotten zero response in the meantime this foundation deducted 192 from my account throwing me into an overdraft situation costing me overdraft fees and no way to pay for groceries I m beyond upset and disgusted that you can t even call this entity to resolve a simple billing issue That should tell you everything you need to know about their ethics Stay away Work with a local UX boot camp if you can

A bit disappointed

Good content but terrible billing practices Did not receive notice of annual renewal When I went to cancel after seeing the charge on my credit card they said they can t issue a refund So they get to keep and use my credit card information and not clearly communicate when the charges are due That s not good business practice or customer service especially coming from a site that is supposed to champion good UX principles and practices

Much too theoretical terrible for designers

I tried this service a few years ago This website teaches design but the design of their own website itself is poor The content was pretty boring mainly in text form and not very actionable nor interactive I couldn t easily find how to unsubscribe so I had to send an email to customer support

All the time courses booked

I do like the theoretical content of these courses however for someone who is already a designer to me it doesn t make much sense that I cannot use this theory in a practical scenario So whilst yes theory is super important so is learning by doing which this doesn t have at all ironic considering this is interaction design

Lots of space to improve

I joined IxDF a couple of weeks into the COVID-19 pandemic last year and found it difficult to get into the courses They have a wonderfully wide selection of topics to choose from but unfortunately the courses I chose were predominantly written The problem is that I would find myself re-reading sentences several times just to make sense of them The courses felt like they had been poorly translated using far too many words to express simple concepts IxDF would benefit hugely from a robust content strategy team who speak English as their first language Another thing that the IxDF experience could benefit from is collecting feedback at the end of each module section of a lesson The lessons are long and at the end of the lesson it s often too late On the positive side I really enjoyed the webinars that are offered periodically I found them engaging and informative Also I appreciated the responsiveness and professionalism of the IxDF team They were very open to suggestions for improvement and responded promptly to emails with cordiality and kindness

Valuable to some extend

Pro - classic theory- systematic knowledge- Certificate is well-made- Good reference materials- Good community vibes and feedbackCons - most of the courses are made before 2016 new blood is needed- Never a real feedback regarding the open questions always full scores - The UX course is not that usable Recent redesign is actually terrible it doesn t display properly on iPad- There is no script for videos- No notes are available in the courses - Pricy compared to other up-to-date coursesI did refer to friends in the past and I took also a couple of seminars But after their recent redesign and I am hesitating to continue the sub I really wish that they could update the materials and improve the usability

I ve been using IDF for 6 months now

I ve been using IDF for 6 months now and I am not 100 satisfied because some of the content is outdated especially the ones about Mobile UX I appreciate that technology changes very quickly and of course it s impossible to create new content every time something changes but having a course which was relevant 5 years ago is a little bit disappointing That being said there are very good courses on IDF cognitive psychology UX management UX research and it is definitely useful but I d recommend using other resources as well if you are a beginner in UX
