This is the absolute WORST choice you

This is the absolute WORST choice you could make They don t pay bills everything that is submitted ends up being sent into collections You get NO help from anyone Your credit score will go down due to non-payment of your bills They don t let the Doctor or the hospital or whoever sent the bill know what is going on so they throw you into collections

LHS - Shady

I too have been struggling with LHS covering a badly required surgery Are the games they play illegal They ask their members to get Self-Pay pricing but hospitals state that if you re being reimbursed then it s not self pay The game went on for 4 years Because my condition has worsened I m strongly contemplating speaking with an attorney

Unable to cancel - Hotel California

I have been paying on-time auto-pay since April 2020 Since day one I ve submitted zero expenses for sharing reimbursement That s nearly 10 000 in funds I ve contributed to this sharing ministry I have new insurance kicking in on Feb 1 and logged into the portal to cancel my membership and can t find any way to cancel Now I m reading reviews that Liberty Healthshare is more than 2 years behind in paying their members reimbursements My guess is that Liberty was unable to cover their members expenses and is using new money to pay overdue health shares Has it become a Ponzi scheme

Liberty Healthshare Liberty NOshare is more like it 700 claim remains unpaid in over 2 years

They took my money and never paid the service providers even though they represented to me that they would I just received a bill two years later that they had promised to pay and never did The healthcare provider tried no less than eleven times to get paid only to get nothing but ignored I contacted Liberty Healthshare to press for an answer of when the bill would be paid and the response I got was scripted doublespeak i never got an answer to my question of when the bill would be paid or if it ever would I am stuck with the bill and here I thought it was taken care of two years ago Thank goodness it was only 675 The problem with this outfit is that unlike an insurance company it is unregulated The day I receive reimbursement is the day I shall take this down

Save yourself and do not fall for this scam operation

I was a member of Liberty Healthshare from 2018 to 2022 It seemed okay until 9 21 when I spent some time in the hospital to the cost of more than 10K It has now been almost 2 5 years since my expenses were submitted and approved for reimbursement I have called numerous times always to be told that there s no way of knowing when if this will happen and that there s no rhyme or reason to how they choose who to reimburse from the back log That should tell you something right there If people from the back log are truly being taken care of they must be people they know or family members or who knows maybe they draw out of a hat Except I doubt the good reviews of this company are actually real so it s probably more likely that everyone with outstanding expenses is in indefinite purgatory like me They say they are working on their back log of expenses all the time but how much money are they putting toward that 10 a month The customer service reps are no help at all When you call they basically try to blame you for ever believing that you would have your expenses reimbursed even after they were moved into the pending status for reimbursement and they gaslight you into thinking it s the members fault that this company got into trouble and couldn t figure it out I just went into my account for the first time in a while and now see a huge disclaimer at the top saying that ultimately members are responsible for their own medical expenses and they ve never guaranteed that anyone will be reimbursed for anything Which they obviously had to put there because they just want people to stop asking whatever happened to those expenses that were supposed to be reimbursed So yeah if you want to pay thousands of dollars out of pocket for your own medical expenses this is probably the right choice for you Honestly you could just do that by saying you re uninsured and paying the cash price without having to pay Liberty Healthshare every month There is also part of the disclaimer that says whether this ministry continues to operate which to me looks like they are about to go out of business and have a good laugh This is a scam operation that lures people in by making them think it s a faith-based organization Never fall for it

take any other available option DO NOT USE

I cancelled my membership today effective 12 31 2023 when my new insurance would become effective I was then told that anything submitted after the end of October would not be eligible for sharing I asked how this could be correct as I have paid my membership for November and December I was quoted a portion of Page 11 in the guidelines If I wanted to be covered in case of an emergency I would have to pay the January and February 2024 fees to be eligible for December 2023 potential services When I look at my account I see that my fees have paid for others but nothing for me This is supposed to be a bible based Christian organization I guess their Christianity only goes as far as they get money Sounds a bit like the pharisees of old All show and nothing to deliver

Frequently Asked Questions

Liberty HealthShare is a healthcare sharing ministry, not an insurance company. It is a community of individuals who share eligible medical expenses based on shared ethical and religious beliefs. Unlike traditional insurance, members contribute a monthly 'share' that is used to pay for other members' medical bills. This model emphasizes direct mutual aid and personal responsibility, operating outside the regulations and structures of conventional insurance policies.

Members submit their eligible medical bills to Liberty HealthShare for review. After verification against the program's guidelines, the bill is presented to the community for sharing. The funds from members' monthly shares are then used to pay these eligible expenses. The process is designed to be transparent, and members often receive communications explaining how their contributions assist others.

Liberty HealthShare offers several programs tailored to different needs, such as Liberty Complete, Liberty Plus, and Liberty Basic. Each program has specific guidelines determining the monthly share amount, the annual unshared amount (functioning similarly to a deductible), and the scope of eligible medical expenses. These options allow individuals and families to select a plan that aligns with their healthcare needs and budget.

Yes, members are generally free to choose any licensed healthcare provider. However, Liberty HealthShare provides access to a network of preferred providers who have agreed to offer discounted rates. Using these providers can help reduce out-of-pocket costs and streamline the billing process, but it is not a requirement for receiving assistance with eligible expenses.

Prospective members are typically required to agree to a statement of shared beliefs that reflects the community's ethical and religious foundations. A commitment to a healthy lifestyle is also a common principle. Membership is contingent on agreeing to these values and adhering to the program's guidelines for sharing medical expenses.

About Libertyhealthshare

Liberty HealthShare: A Community-Based Approach to Healthcare Costs

Liberty HealthShare operates as a healthcare sharing ministry, offering an alternative to traditional health insurance. It is a community of like-minded individuals who agree to share each other's eligible medical expenses based on shared ethical and religious beliefs. The organization provides a framework for members to directly support one another's healthcare needs, fostering a sense of mutual aid and personal responsibility.

How Healthcare Sharing Works

Unlike conventional insurance, Liberty HealthShare is not an insurance company. Members contribute a set monthly amount, known as a "share," which is then used to pay for the eligible medical expenses of other members. The process is designed to be transparent, with members often receiving explanations of how their shares are assisting others in the community. This model emphasizes direct sharing between members, bypassing many of the complexities associated with standard insurance policies.

Core Programs and Membership

The website outlines several distinct sharing programs tailored to different needs and family sizes, such as the Liberty Complete, Liberty Plus, and Liberty Basic plans. Each program has its own guidelines for monthly share amounts, annual unshared amounts (similar to a deductible), and eligible medical expenses. Prospective members typically agree to a statement of beliefs and commit to a healthy lifestyle, which are foundational principles of the community.

Key Features and Member Resources

Liberty HealthShare provides a suite of resources to support its members:

  • Medical Bill Sharing:Members submit eligible medical bills for review and potential sharing by the community.
  • Provider Access:Members have access to a network of preferred providers who offer discounted rates, though they are generally free to choose any healthcare provider.
  • Telehealth Services:Many programs include access to 24/7 telehealth consultations for minor ailments.
  • Health & Wellness Incentives:The ministry often encourages preventive care and healthy living through various programs and resources.
  • Member Advocacy:Support is available to help members navigate the medical billing and sharing process.

Important Considerations for Participants

It is crucial for individuals considering Liberty HealthShare to understand the distinctions from traditional insurance. As a sharing ministry, it is exempt from the Affordable Care Act (ACA) mandates. This means:

  • Members do not receive an ACA Form 1095-A and may be subject to a tax penalty in some states, though a federal exemption exists.
  • Sharing is subject to program guidelines; not all medical expenses are eligible for sharing (e.g., pre-existing conditions may have limitations).
  • The community's continued ability to share expenses depends on the collective financial participation and integrity of its members.

Mission and Community Values

At its heart, Liberty HealthShare is built on principles of faith, stewardship, and personal liberty. The organization emphasizes responsible healthcare consumption, compassionate sharing, and the freedom to make one's own healthcare choices. It appeals to individuals and families seeking a values-aligned, cost-conscious method for managing healthcare expenses outside the conventional insurance system.

In summary, Liberty HealthShare presents a unique, community-oriented model for managing healthcare costs. It requires careful review of its guidelines and a clear understanding of its differences from regulated insurance, but for those who align with its principles, it offers a path to shared medical financial responsibility.
