Crooked Cops
Speed traps galore the crooked cops are only there to tax drivers on I-95 corridor this is a shiddy county with hillbillies and rednecks and the only income is to give false tickets These Podunk cops are the reason Police is hated They should call Paypal and have taxation officers run your card for the 300 ticket and just give you a warning No wonder they drop the speed to 4 over as soon as you complain Shameful

Aggressive policing and bogus ticket
On the morning of December 30th 2017 my family and I were traveling 95 south in McIntosh County We were on our way to my hometown of Brunswick Georgia I noticed that a police officer had pulled a vehicle over in the emergency lane Per the Move Over Law Georgia Code Title 40-6-16 I slowed down and proceeded to the middle lane The law states the following Motorists travelling in the lane adjacent to the shoulder must move-over one lane when emergency and utility vehicles are stopped on the side of the highway and operating in an official capacity Vehicles included in the law include all first responders law enforcement fire EMS utility vehicles DOT vehicles HERO Units and wreckers tending to an accident The law is meant to keep officers AND traffic violators safe from crashes with passing cars As I approached the two vehicles the one that had been pulled over by the sheriff s deputy pulled off into the right lane Thus I eventually moved back from the middle lane to the far right lane However soon afterwards the same sheriff s deputy got behind me and pulled me over Once the deputy approached my vehicle I questioned if I had been speeding She affirmed No I further inquired if I had a broken taillight and again she divulged No She then admitted that she had stopped me to find out why I was traveling so slowly and that I failed to maintain my lane She further stated that she had clocked me at 61 MPH and that it was too slow for conditions I was flummoxed as to why I had been stopped because the minimum speed posted was 40 MPH and the speed limit posted was 70 MPH At any rate the officer who I now identify as B Hogan requested my license to conduct a background check She proceeded to her patrol car and returned to my vehicle shortly afterwards after finding nothing amiss Officer Hogan aggressively stated the following things in a bullying abusive threatening unprofessional and condescending manner You need take Highway 17 You re traveling too slowly and these other vehicles are going to run you over Please note that we were in a Toyota Sequoia which is a very large SUV I should impound your vehicle and you would have to get a rental car I should issue you a citation for traveling too slowly but instead I m going to ticket you for failure to maintain your lane Your court date is February 14th If you do not pay the fine you re going to be arrested and your license will be suspended Officer B Hogan s behavior was unprofessional unmerited downright despicable and I believe racially driven I was very intimidated by the officer s aggressive behavior which ultimately has caused me to have panic attacks and lose sleep In addition to that my husband and children were frightened by the officer s demeanor and aggressiveness I felt that she was prepared to arrest me if I responded with the same level of condescension and aggression that she had provided me The officer then proceeded down the highway to the medium where at least three other sheriff s vehicles were located In fact we noticed that there were at least 6 McIntosh County Police vehicles aggressively policing the area on this day Although I disagreed with the officer I refused openly to verbalize it I feared becoming another victim such as George Alston who filed a lawsuit against the Darien Police Department due to constitutional violations of the First Amendment and Fourth Amendment I actually imagined myself becoming the next Sandra Bland So I immediately contacted the sheriff s office to issue a verbal complaint I was told to report the complaint in person However I ve decided to issue my grievance by paper due to learning that those who file complaints are often retaliated against arrested and charged with making false statements As a result we re requesting a full investigation of this matter There were three other adults present who are willing to collaborate my story and interview with others about this encounter

I am only rating poor due to this
I am only rating poor due to this particular experience In January I was out of state and at 11 30 PM I got a call that my alarm had gone off I asked that the sheriff s department respond and let me know what was going on I called the phone number listed for non-emergency 437-6623 numerous times and no one ever answered Not knowing what else to do I called 911 and explained the situation The 911 operator said she had this same non-emergency number She called and got the same response no answer She then called the 911 operator in Darien GA and explained the situation I was connected to the local 911 operator and asked that I be contacted after the police went to my home and let me know what was going on They did call me back but this was an ordeal for both myself and the out of state 911 operator I later called another number and was told this was the jail s number although the telephone book does not state this and someone was supposed to be available 24 7 I explained in this instance that was not the case Being out of state at the time and in this situation this should not be the case

DISHONESTY AND CORRUPTION STILL IN OLD SOUTH GEORGIA
About an little less than an hour south of Savannah Gerald went into the left lane to pass and so I followed -- I m sure farther behind than 50 yards -- but couldn t get over to get back in the center because of thebumper to bumper on my right Then I see it There s a cop with lights on to the left I know in SC there is a Move Over law posted everywhere along the highway which requires you to move to the next lane when there is an emergency vehicle parked on the shoulder I automatically turn my blinker on to go right but with a half of a vehicle length to squeeze into I can t get in Nobody slows down to let me in Decision point slam on the brake and possibly get hit from behind just get into the right lane and possibly get hit by the person to my side or clip the one to my front In the meantime I m trying to see where the cop car is so I don t hit him and moved as far as I could to the lane marker on my right I saw him not on the shouilder but in one of the few places where there is no barrier and a stretch of green grass He s parked with his lights flashing and leaning up against his patrol car note car There s another car facing the northbround lanes in the median No driver anywhere visible Thought it was strange I move on and get into the center lane apparently known as Lane 2 Within 1 I swear 1 minute a cop behind me flashing lights in a truck note truck Pull over using the I pull into the 3rd aka passing lane and pull off onto the shoulder -- no safe median for me to pull into He comes to the car after running the usual check as I would expect any cop to do before going up to the car get my license registration while I wait He tells me we have several problems Several He tells me Georgia has a Move Over law I tell him I know we have one in SC and I was trying to get over He tells me I had room as a truck slowed down and blew his horn to let me in Didn t I see that or hear that I tell him no radio on highway noise window up due to AC and too busy looking to see where I could go as when I looked to my right but due to speeding and tailgating there was no room Was more concerned about hitting somebody meaning A COP on the shoulder emphasis on shoulder so got as far right as I could and slowed as much as I could safely Then he tells me the second problem is my failure to maintain my lane of travel 2 into 3 -- that would have been when the officer turned on his lights behind me and I pulled over He claimed somebody had to hit their brakes DUH I ve been doing that all day And the icing on the cake My left brake light was out Gerald has always told me not to argue with a cop They will always win well except when I went to court in Tequesta and after the Judge heard the evidence didn t even take testimony from the cop it was so ludicrous and pronounced me not guilty -- meaning he didn t know me and my past Well I tried really tried I attempted several times to tell him there was no safe place to go I didn t say maybe I should have hit you but you were safely in the median He told me 3 count em 3 times the truck behind me a black pickup I remember it well tried to let me in He didn t when I put on my blinker and tried to move over The SECOND issue was that I failed to maintain in my lane I moved from the 2nd middle to the 3rd far left and caused people to hit their brakes Yes I did that s because I had a cop with flashing lights on behind me and knew I had to get over He was behind me not anybody else Maybe I should have gone another 5 miles until I could get safely into the right or left side Then I probably would have been fined for evading He went back to his car He comes back with 2 tickets and graciously announces he s not going to give me a ticket for the brake light out Well just how special are you How often do you check your back lights Sweetie He proceeds to give me a Court date in Darien Ga population like 1400 which is the County Seat of McIntosh County population like 14 000 That s when I said You gotta be kidding I ve got to come back to Georgia for this He then showed me where I could mail it in The ticket itself has no fine on it can t get the records in Darien for another two weeks according to their website After all that of course he ends with Have a good day -- you gotta be kdding me My main gripe Back when anytime you had to drive into Good Ole Boy south Georgia it was known as a speed trap They sat behind road signs half hidden behind trees and at night of course with their lights off just waiting Well bless their hearts according to my ticketS anyone driving over 85 MPH anywhere can be fined 200 00 or more Obviously they can t make their money that way so they have been a new way to run their scam The cop that I didn t move over for was not on the shoulder for one Good Lord no he wasn t going to run the risk of getting hit Leaning against his car arms crossed doesn t qualify for anything other than looking for a violation no one with him despite the car facing the northbound lanes and where he is safely behind the barrier in the median suggests there wasn t a soul in the car it was a set-up Just like the speed traps of Old South Georgia He obviously had a partner and could afford a walkie-talkie to radio what to look for and who had never witnessed a thing 2 violations at Mile marker 49 and 52 Yep the second for when I pulled out of my lane with a cop behind me Not even the biggest moron in Georgia is going to go into the left lane to pass a cop with his lights on This ain t Atlanta folks this is the boondocks where the Deputy Sheriff I m guessing there s only 1 or 2 in the County has nothing to do but traffic Gotta pay their salary in some way with no crime to fight Locking drunks up on Friday nights can be messy I seriously suggest that if you have to go through Georgia to get anywhere in the South go through Alabama It will dump you near the Fla Panhandle but save you big bucks and having to deal with the corruption traps in Ga Oh and just looking over my tickets for the Court date I really oughta go but they would wind up putting me in prison I m sure I see the marked that the traffic was light Well yeah in Atlanta it would have been considered light I m sure that in Darien it s considered heavy and heavier Officer C Turner aren t you proud

Failure to Move Over Violation
I received a Failure to Move Over Violation yesterday headed south on I-95 This section of I-95 gets quite busy on Sundays and the shoulders are very spacious There is plenty of pavement space on each side of the road as well as 50 feet of extra grass space on the right The cops need to utilize that space and stop putting motorists at risk by requiring them to urgently move to the center lane It s very dangerous to rapidly change lanes because it s difficult to move over when you have semi-trucks in the middle lane The cop said that I almost hit him in front of my two young children who were in the backseat That s not even close to being true The cops actually had a move over law trap set up because he quickly radioed up to another police officer that was conveniently posted 300M up the road I am a former military officer that has served overseas in places like Iraq Also on the citation the officer wrote that the road was wet and the traffic was light Neither of those two characterizations are accurate for the morning of 6 13 2021 This organization has no ethics is in need of reform and new leadership I hope the people of McIntosh County Georgia consider electing a new Sheriff

Horrible experience with incompetent officer and hack investigator
These people need to learn their own laws The ham burglar pulled me over Since we aren t allowed to use names just Google or YouTube Macintosh McDonald s officer I sent six weeks worth of complaints but the investigator covered it up for her They are all pathetic over here The judge threw away her fake tickets This lady really needs to not only learn what the move over law is she also needs an attitude adjustment Her personality is trash I was nothing but nice to her meanwhile she was on a rampage This department did nothing The judge threw it out without me having to drive six hours back down there The craziest part is when she handed me a ticket and started making her excuse for why she was giving me one I asked a simple question about her lights not being on while she was on the side of the road she stopped me and said oh yeah wait right here She went back to her car and wrote a duplicate ticket She came back and handed it to me and when I asked what it was she just tossed it in my lap and walked away Something is not right with this woman You just don t act like that This lady has a badge handcuffs and a gun and treats people like this Just watch her in the videos Unhinged Unprofessional These people are on taxpayers dime and doing this stuff while in uniform Disgraceful

There s a reason they don t go to church
Holy balls batman I was looking up how to leave reviews for these folks and man everyone is saying the same thing as me I was going with the flow of traffic and the officer said I was doing 83 I said sorry sir I don t know how I was going faster than the guy in front of me when we re in traffic and I can t go anywhere He said don t worry didn t ask for my registration or insurance just for my driver s license about 3 minutes pasted he came back said thank you for your service handed me a ticket and let me on my way It wasn t until we stopped to gas up that I looked at the ticket and he wrote me up for 87 That s reckless driving and now I m out 400 when I was with the flow of traffic Hands down the most corrupt department I ve ever had the unfortunate pleasure to deal with The Sheriff Stephen Jessup needs to either evaluate his staff unless he s in on it as well

This is a really crooked county
Wow - OH WOWI was traveling with my 90 year old father and 87 year old mother - in the middle lane of I95 Southbound when all of a sudden there are poolice lights in my rearview mirror I was moving with traffic and the officer pulled us over never stating my speed never looking for insuance or registration Just my license -Looking at this YELP page it is clear that I am not the first to experience the targeting of out of state vehicles by the Sherifff s Office Time for a FOIA filing -What goes on here is clearly illegal - Time for the public to kknow
