If I could give 0 stars I would EDIT For anyone looking at the positive reviews and deciding to give this company a try - if everything works perfectly - then it looks like it is a good experience However in my experience the measure of a company is how well they deal with things when they go wrong This company gets a ZERO on that They refuse to honor their cancellation policy and they refuse to help customers when the moving company they subcontract to tries to do some shady things When I rebooked my move with a different company - everything went super smooth I had my items in 2 days and for the amount I was quoted I booked my moving service well in advance - 2 months - to make sure I could get the date I wanted I was told that I had 72 hours to cancel if I decided to do that and was asked for a deposit of 2700 I paid the deposit The NEXT DAY - my phone starts blowing up and I was traveling so I tried to ignore the calls then the number starts blowing up my partner s phone Finally I answer and they are telling me that they need to confirm my move for TOMORROW I explained that they were 2 months too early and that I was not moving until November They started to argue with me then I think they finally found where the date said November The NEXT DAY my phone starts blowing up again - with a new number Again - I m busy - I m out of town and we are doing things Finally I stop and answer the phone The movers are outside my home wanting to pick up our things I explained to them that the information was incorrect and that they had the wrong day Poor guys - I m hoping they were at least paid for that day since they didn t get to work We were already talking about a change of plans so that settled it - and I called their customer service line to tell them that I am going to cancel the move The person who answered the phone kept insisting that it wasn t them who sent the movers Over and over he insisted - even after I told him that I didn t give anyone else my address and hadn t even talked with anyone else I finally said I don t care - I want to cancel He didn t tell me that I needed to email anyone to cancel - but I went and found my contract and found the email address and sent the request to cancel This was on Saturday 27 September 2024 - this is Wednesday 2 October 2024 - I have not heard from anyone I called on Tuesday and today and have not heard back When I called back a second time today - I was told that I was being transferred to billing - but I was sent to the voice mail for customer service Now when I call - there is no answer at all Note interesting the bad review goes to the same email I sent the cancellation request to - let s see how quickly they respond

Con Artists plane and simple
Booked with this company while shopping around for a long distance mover The guy I spoke with during my quote had me give a run down of everything I was moving Mind you I was telling home everything off the top of my head since I was already living in my new state but was well aware of all my larger bulkier items to be moved and loosely knew about how many boxes The guy quoted me a price slightly less than the other company I spoke with so I decided to move forward Then on the day before my pick up I find out that they only contracted me for less than half the space that I needed And their customer service was horrible when I contacted them about this They are con artists Do not by any means use this company

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
I would like to add to the many negative reviews This is the first negative review I ve ever left but after going back and forth on if I d say something about my experience I decided if adding to reviews can save someone else some headache it wouldn t hurt This was by far one of the worst customer service experience I ve had I was quoted the wrong price initially I extended grace because I understand that prices change and flex However even with the extra charge the movers left ALL of my items behind and only transported a few things This was so disappointing as I specifically told them what I had and what my expectation was I made it very clear so they would not be surprised They left most of my items and then refused to give me adequate communication on the where abouts of my items for a week I talk to 3 different people whose answers ranged from you ll have your things in a week to 26 days to I don t know what s going on It seems like the bigger company uses smaller companies to do the work which is common however there is absolutely NO communication between the two therefore I ended up to agreeing to things from the second company that I did not agree to with the first DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

Please consider other options
I do not typically write reviews however I wish to caution anyone planning a future move with Northern Relocation My experience with this broker has been mired with a persistent lack of communication from their customer service department and their subcontractors I spoke with a representative over the phone and we set up the pickup date for December 18th and a delivery date for December 20th At the time I was assured my timeline was reasonable and to expect a call prior to pickup for the estimated time of arrival After receiving no communication prior to the pickup date I reached out to customer service and was told the movers were delayed and a new time was set for December 19th When the movers failed to call by their own deadline I notified customer service and the Northern Relocation representative Anticipating another delay I extended my utilities for an additional week which meant I had to pay for two locations Two hours past their deadline and after dark the movers finally arrived and as previous reviews have mentioned the final price was almost 3 times greater than the initial quoted price Since December 23rd I have been contacting customer service and the Northern Relocation representative in regard to my estimated delivery date As of January 2nd I still have not received any updates regarding the status of my belongings or their location Customer service has forwarded me to the subcontractor designated for delivery yet I cannot reach them by phone nor can I reach the subcontractor that picked up my belongings Each time the calls go to voice mail and no one has yet returned my calls The Northern Relocation representative now forwards my calls back to their customer service

Don t use this company They give you a low estimate at first and charge more later They also take a long time to move and they don t compensate for damaged items at all They are an irresponsible company

Bait and Switch
They underestimated my daughter s stuff And then the local mover tried to double the estimate and northern was no help at all Basically said pay up or only ship half of your stuff I kicked out the movers Sham and bait and switch Do not use this company

Back in August I was going to move from
Back in August I was going to move from Chicago to Oakland and I contacted Northern relocation they gave me a quote and from then on I was making payments for the move Recently my plans to move have fell through So I contacted the rep to tell them that I wont me needing them as my move was in this may and it is January giving them ample time I get a call from a victor which is there operations manager and tells me that he can t refund my money because its outside the refund window and that my contract says that its non refundable I explained that life happens and that I am giving you advanced notice Victor said that he can give me a credit for a future out of state move in the next 12 months and that if I need to extend it I can I told him I wasn t going to move Victor responded by well your friends and family can use it I told them that they wont I said Id be willing to go 50 cancellation fee and Victor was like this is what your contract says I explained then I just learned a expensive lesson and told him just because its on paper doesn t make it right and you guys just got 4 000 towards your business he said I m sorry you feel this way and I said I was going to leave this on yelp and he said there is nothing I can do for you at this point and hangs the phone up on me Ive never had such indigent customer service like this in the entire adulthood and I feel robbed

I had a horrible experience with Northern Relocation LLC I canceled my booking within hours after reading awful reviews online and followed their policy for cancellations within 72 hours Despite this they refused to refund my deposit even though no services were ever provided This company is a scam They don t honor their own policies and just take your money without doing anything Stay far away from them

Deceptive Practices and Price Gouging Avoid This CompanyMy experience with Northern Relocation was a nightmare I was quoted 1 979 75 then it was increased to 3 600 after reviewing my inventory On moving day the price jumped to 6 100 with no justification The movers ignored my inventory list walked through my 800 sq ft apartment and claimed I added items which was false The movers pressured me to accept the inflated price without proper documentation threatening I d lose my deposit I called the police who questioned the massive price hike They demanded 1 900 upfront and another 1 900 at delivery causing me emotional and financial distress This company uses bait-and-switch tactics unreliable quotes and predatory practices Avoid them if you value your time money and peace of mind
