Cancelled my order without notification reason

ThriftyFox cancelled my order without notification I will not be using them again My son wanted a specific watch for his 21st birthday present The watch was not available locally I found it on sites in the US but also came across it on ThriftyFox and it showed as In Stock while other NZ sites showed they were out of stock I decided to use ThriftyFox instead of ordering directly from sites in the US in case there was any issue and we had a local return point However after a couple of weeks I realised I hadn t seen any update or tracking info and went to check on things I found that ThriftyFox had cancelled my order the day after it was placed and had not sent an email to notify me they had done this or to explain why I got the original order confirmation email so they had my correct email address and yes I checked the junk spam folder but nothing to advise me of them cancelling my order I nervously checked my bank account and found they had at least refunded my money However some of the other options for purchasing the same watch were now sold out and what I had planned early enough to receive in time for my son s 21st resulted in him going empty handed for this big occasion in a young man s life in no small way thanks to ThriftyFox Communication is key to business success It was disappointing enough to have an order for an In Stock item cancelled but to not communicate that to your customer let alone explain why is inexcusable In ThriftyFox s defence they use Shopify so maybe they were unaware no email was sent to me However it is their choice to use Shopify and the customer doesn t really care what backend systems you use they want to get good service and this did not happen I won t be using them again and have advised others to avoid You have now been warned too
