Turkmenistan Airlines - A disaster in the making
I worked in Turkmenistan for 4 2014 - 2018 long years A dreadful country and regime that is reflected by their flag carrier Turkmenistan Airlines I flew with them in business class on their 777 s and 737 s between Birmingham and Ashkhabad and it was always an adventure Terrible inedible food crew smoking in the toilets cockpit door wedged open arguments between which pilot was flying the plane drunken crew members staggering around the cabin On one flight to the UK 2 of the relief crew had a fist fight In the end I found that the best way to cope with the flights was to get as drunk as possible before boarding the flight and fall into a drunken sleep so that if there was an emergency I would be oblivious to it In the end I threatened to resign from my job so my company started flying me Turkish Airlines I put a report and photos into the UK CAA I don t know if these helped but in 2019 Turkmenistan Airlines was banned from UK and EU airspace due to safety concerns My advice - NEVER EVER fly with them
