"Trapped into Cover for life policy for pets"

We have had cover from PetPlan for our previous two cats and our current two We have cover for life but our latest quote for 7 000-worth of cover Excess of 115 plus 20 per cent for each claim is nearly 1 300 00 a further raise of just over 20 per cent on last year s quote In 2019 we were paying approximately 625 00 so our quote has doubled in four years Our cats are 10 years old approximately they were from a shelter and we cannot move them due to their age and their pre-existing conditions - these referring to instances when we have visited the vets due to concern for our animals and no long-term problems were established We made one claim of between 500 and 1000 when our male cat was one but nothing since Our two options are renew and pay these large premiums or bail out when our cats are most likely to need care which we wouldn t do PetPlan claims that vets bills are going up I m sure they are but I would question if they were in line with the percentage increases to our premium and the total we can claim in a year 7 000 hasn t been increased accordingly So we are paying more for in reality less cover Multi-cat cover has also remained constant for at least the last four years at 24 per year We have never had trouble making a claim with PetPlan but feel like we now being taken for granted as customers

shocking service always looking at ways to avoid paymentpremiums go up every year due to age and then you charge stich up people if their pet is above a certain age even though pet plan rinses people for their premiums

"They started off great "

They started off great until I got a second cat Their website states we simply need to get in contact with someone to merge policies and also someone over the phone confirmed this But now I get an email saying they can t do this that I have to cancel my original plan and start a new one in short they re screwing me around and I have to pay 2 full price policies because they can t be bothered to deliver on what their website and staff member said they CAN DO

"Petplan policy devalued "

Notwithstanding the substantial increases in vet bills generally in recent years and my cat and dog getting older 11 and 9 respectively but a 25 increase in the premium to 1 500 seems unduly excessive However much more to the point is that having had the Covered for Life policy with them for 9 years with the 7000pa Vet Bills allowance for each animal this figure has remained unchanged in the period but should have been automatically increased by now to circa 9000pa just to take account of inflation Accordingly the policy has been effectively significantly devalued in real terms in a very underhand way

"Not great"

Not great The amount of times I have had to contact them I ve loss count The only thing I can put it down to is laziness They don t check what excess you have previously paid I E checking for existing illness I paid the excess twice for renal failure diagnosis blood tests medication the vet submitted the claim in two parts two weeks apart Even after speaking to them and advising that the vet had put two claims in and being told remaining excess would be 58 Whoever processed the second claim clearly didn t check and charged me the full excess Watch them check and challenge as they don t seem to have due diligence when processing claims

"Rip you off of change ownership after "

Rip you off if you change ownership after seperation I have taken over ownership insurance when policy ended My ex recieved a renewal quote for 74 when I rang to change ownership it went up to 99 a month I was informed this was due to change of address and vets fees being different in new location I still live a couple miles from old address and my dog will still be going to the same vets Just seems easy way to rip off existing customers and increase fees by over 25

"Get better at bereavement cases "

I feel the need to raise an extremely distressing experience with this company I hope that this feedback is taken on board and learnt from so it doesn t happen again to anyone else in future My Mother very suddenly and unexpectedly passed away earlier this year she left behind our family dog whom was insured with this company I had to make the impossible decision to offer the dog up for adoption as I was unable to take him due to him being a reactive dog whom was not compatible with my own It was another devastating loss after my Mother but one that was right for the dog and myself He was returned to his breeder to live with his brother BTW he wasn t just sent anywhere Anyway I rang PetPlan weeks later to cancel the insurance What happened was deeply upsetting for me The man on the phone refused to speak to me and demanded to speak to my dead Mother I kept telling him this was not possible but he continued to say he could only speak to her I was then told that the only other party on the policy was my Father whom was also deceased Again I explained that he was not available to discuss this matter with either He told me there was nothing I could do I then explained further that I was the only remaining family member I had Lasting Power of Attorney a copy of both wills and the bill or probate nothing This man then went on to question why I was cancelling the insurance I explained what happened and he then advised me I had in fact stolen the dog and I had no right to make such a decision and he would contact the police I finally burst into floods of tears at this point and demanded to speak to his manager whom came on and had a completely different empathetic approach and cancelled the policy no further questions asked Of all the multitude of companies contacted in the shadow of my Mothers passing this was by far the worst one I was appalled Please please PetPlan provide your call staff with some bereavement training and review your processes better for how to handle these situations Simply based upon this experience I would never use PetPlan myself nor would I recommend to anyone else Really upsetting experience

"Appalled to see that the payment of my "

Appalled to see that the payment of my premium has doubled since taking it out Petplan offer Cover for life the reason I took out the cover when getting the puppy Now she is 9 the premium is 130 per month with 135 excess on each claim even though the first 6-7 years we never claimed a thing I believe this is very misleading to customers and want to warn any new starters with pet plan They have you tied in at the end and do not value customer loyalty

I had a policy renewal quote in and was surprised that it went up by almost 100 per year for my 2 years old cat with no underlying health issues and no claims After calling the customer service I was told that the sharp increase is due to higher vets fees That just does not make any sense The fact that vets fees may be higher does not alter the total cover amount It is us customers that basically get less for our money and not insurance companies I cancelled the policy renewal and found a better policy offer with a more reputable insurance company

"Frank s pet plan got a email saying our pet plan "

We got a email saying our pet plan payments are going up 9 from 35 to 44 and dont bother phoning because you won t get a reduction our dog Frank is only 3 years old what a joke held to ransom Never made a claim Apparently its the vets that have put their pricing up what a cop out Were going elsewhere That reply is a cop out considering weve never made a claim and hopefully never will this premium has gone up twice now You are supposed to care about animals but only care about the cost and making pet owners pay extortionate monthly payments which we can t afford 109 a year more is a joke
