Good idea but terrible execution
The concept is simple let server administrators submit bad activities that they receive from IP X or Y to a centralized place and pool all these data to determine if an IP address is bad However many server administrators even professionals sadly have no clue about what they are doing and submit phony reports en masse I m sure it is in the huge majority of cases not malicious but rather out of ignorance in particular a lack of knowledge when configuring tools that automatically fill reports For example some will report you just for having a bad user agent Some will report you for crawling even though they don t have a robots txt file or worse they have one that explicitly allows crawling Some will report without providing any evidence at all empty logs no detail at all just one of the standard categories This is to be expected from such a system and as such shouldn t be a problem if the service administrators bothered to CURATE the reports Alas they don t do that They just let the reports pile up They make it very hard to dispute them you just have a button to flag a report but can t explain why and your other option is to use a tiny contact form with a very limited maximum text length 4000 characters doesn t sound that low but when you need to rebut a dozen of fake reports at once it is and they never reply They don t reply on Twitter either Long story short they re like ghosts and allow zero human interaction Which is why I originally didn t write a review I thought the service was a relic of the past with maybe just one overwhelmed guy keeping it afloat But after visiting today I noticed that they re bragging about attending Black Hat 2024 in Las Vegas on August 7th 8th and offering to meet people there apparently you need an appointment first though so obviously they are still living the good life out of slandering IP addresses Not cool Please get working on curating the fake reports instead of parading at conferences
