Andrews onLine Member Application Process is a moronic exercise that is imposible to complete - PART I
In today s world one is often compelled to do things out of the ordinary because of prevailing market conditions Investing in a credit union instead of bank or brokerage offering to get decent interest rates is an example because you need to be a member and historically membership was limited to military or government personnel resident in a specific area However today the requirements have relaxed considerably but the easier standards have provided a platform for abuse Companies get away with the abuse because the FED has enabled them by artificially suppressing interest rates I simply do not have enough space to fully detail the complaint as i have on the National Credit Union Administration site I could not get beyond the first page of the credit union application although it contained nothing more than my Name Address and Phone number etc Finally I noticed that the machine only accepted street direction notifications with a period at the end of the street direction e g west 47th street would have to be input as w 47th street It failed to recognize the abbreviated street direction preceding the name without a period You may be able to input the complete street name but it s just another case that must be tested by trial and error which I didn t care to try Generally there were no instructions on the form except in a few specific instances This is because the machine checks the address in real time which suggests that no real person ever looks at anything other than the completed form Now the 2nd page The form asks me to upload a photocopy of the back of my driver s license BUT then WOULDN T UPLOAD IT Somewhere along the way in this process I received notification that I was added to the Andrews secure messaging system remember that because it will come up later I had to provide a photo copy of my social security card as issued and write a short note scan it and transmit it to Andrews before they will process my application If I didn t want them to process this monstrosity why the hell was I bothering to complete it The system verifies each Read and doesn t let one continue until every choice offered has a check mark next to it which puts an extensive labor burden on the applicant I now got to the part which asked for my social security number This was the only page that offered instructions as to the required input form The number was to be input without any dashes - I entered it both with spaces and then running all the numbers together to no avail The popup window gave two choices 1 Confirm social security number or 2 confirm by email Even though they had a photocopy of my social security number the system would not confirm it so no one is looking at the individual pages I quit for the day and decided to try the email confirmation option the next day So I selected the confirm by email option But when I tried the system came back with a message telling me that I wasn t on the same computer as yesterday It quickly becomes obvious why Andrews earned a Better Business Bureau custom review rating of 1 5 on their site Be sure and read the BBB report before you borrow money from these people Apparently the problems I identified finally made it to the right places I was appalled that they would wipe my Andrews email account clear of all documentation of the errors I encountered but I had anticipated that so I made copies of my secure messages Finally I heard from the young woman who set up accounts manually So why didn t they offer me that option initially Because it s likely they needed a guinea pig to help develop their convoluted on-line system As the Rep talked me through the manual process all I needed to do was enter a dummy ID for the member name and password and I was in I checked my Andrews secure email account again on Jan 28 2020 it was still empty No messages of any kind Why Perhaps to prevent this very performance review Be sure to Read Part II

Jim Hayes CEO is a poor leader That reflects down the chain Mother applied for membership and was denied Upon appeal they asked to reapply and again denied Both times different reasons Second reason being identity stating did you apply for membership Do you know where is Andrews FCU is located asked a Sales director Jim Hayes asked to call us She asked very ridiculous questions with no logic I asked you knew all about Chex system and credit report and you still asked to apply again Now your reason for declining has changed She stated we have tools and we do manual due diligence in offering membership Really To Asian American too She was asked where was your due diligence first time when denied Why did this reason not come up She had no proper response She stated we don t want third party to apply for membership meaning someone else applied for my membership Really I stated no I sat with my son and we discussed I am a 88 years old disabled widowed lady with anyresum of brain I also have begin my first stage of dementia So I can t ask for support I asked further you mean we should in America leave elderly to manage everything on their own Move them to elderly homes and not support at all let the government take care of them Why to have this hassle of serving old citizens In response she said I did not mean that So what did you mean by third party If I don t ask for help how will I manage How can our senior citizens survive It takes large support system to support our seniors including credit unions like you And here you are coming up with all these excuses I asked her do you have any proof of any kind that I did not do my application No proper answer Well she says decision was made by our CEO Mr Hayes He asked me to call you and give you information on local credit union in Texas Then she turned around we gave a recommendation to our CEO that I will be better of being a Texan How great is this CEO Thank you but no thank you She denied they don t discriminate on colors or ethnicity Really My question Mr CEO is how do you support your old grandparents or great grandparents Did you like others decide to leave them in assisted living as someone like yourself discriminated Or tell us how should be get support being disabled widow senior citizen Please enlighten us with your thoughts We don t Blame you Mr Jim Hayes Is this American way of living an independent life I don t think so American are very kind and loving towards elderly And you run a federal credit union I am so glad to deny you rather than you denying me I don t need you Please remember one day when you will be 90 years old and someone will says these things to your son or daughter you will understand I give you blessings and best wishes Written on behalf direction from my beloved and respected mother She and all elderly senior citizens need to be treated with fairness and without discrimination Life is too short People are valuable assets Update coming soon Jim Hayes and team reported the son for abuse of his mother with Texas Adult services I will upload the report to show you real face of this company

Short sale and lack of care and promises made
Everyone please be careful when dealing with Andrews Federal Credit Union I have a short sale actually the only part of the deal that is short is the second trust In the last few weeks they got bought out and the loan is serviced by someone else now Total unresponsiveness promising to get the approval letter to me for weeks Passing the buck back and forth between both companies I am so fed up I think they want to see this home go into foreclosure andrewsfederalcreditunion totallyunresponsive andrewsfederalcredituniondoesntcare andrewsferderalcreditunionpassesthebuck

Awful service and lots of errors
Don t bank here They have no clue what a bank is or should do Mistake after mistake Dinged my credit for no reason - I had fraudulent credit charges which I disputed and were taken off I then closed all accounts with them and then they notified the credit reporting agency that there had been a non payment I haven t used that account in 5 years

Untrustworthy
Untrustworthy shady deserving to be reported to the Fair Trade Commission Rips off customers by short paying the agreed CD rate No real customer service just a call center which is not allowed to conduct any of business transactions or inquiries You have to wait for a call back from their accounting department and that call back never comes The worst credit union I ever encountered Do not recommend them for any of your financial needs

I recently applied to Andrews Federal
I recently applied to Andrews Federal Credit Union and submitted all required verification documents The website indicated a response time of 24-48 hours However it has now been more than 48 hours and I have yet to receive a response In my attempt to seek assistance by calling member services I encountered further disappointment Not only were they unable to provide any helpful information but they also simply advised me to continue waiting This experience has left me dissatisfied and frustrated The misleading time frame and lack of effective customer service are disheartening especially considering the numerous alternatives available While I understand that delays can occur clear communication and honoring promised time frames are crucial in maintaining customer trust As a result I m left contemplating whether Andrews Federal Credit Union is truly the right fit for my banking needs

Poor customer service I was a fraud victim now I constantly have issues using the card
I only have a personal credit card with AFCU because at the time I applied they were the only financial institution that offered a chip and PIN card I found their interest rates to be fairly reasonable In the past few years this has gone downhill I had an inquiry about my interest rate and called the number on my bill I called the number on my bill and was connected with a very sour uneducated disinterested woman who was apparently having a very bad day She took my account information then told me she couldn t help me but had to forward it to some department at the credit union itself and that they probably would reply within 2 weeks I told her that was unacceptable and she began to get mouthy I did not raise my voice nor use inappropriate language but she did She informed me that What you not gonna do is talk to me like I m uninformed at which point I disconnected the call and got someone else IAbout a week passed and I was contacted by phone by a scammer pretending to be from AFCU fraud department He knew my name and other pertinent information about me and my account He told me that there was a fraudulent charge on my account with Apple pay and they needed to close my account and reissue a new card In order to reverse the fraudulent charge on my account I would need to provide him with a code number that he would send in a text message He almost had me convinced but his speech was very odd and seemed as though he was reading from a script Not to mention the fact that he called very early in the morning and I was not completely awake He had called perhaps 5 times and when I finally traced the number he was spoofing AFCU s toll free number When the text message came through it was from Apple not AFCU and through my brain fog it clicked that this was not right I immediately disconnected the call He tried calling back over 20 times as I was trying to contact AFCU itself You cannot speak to anyone at any of the branches all calls are handled by a call center The only positive thing was that I was connected with a very nice knowledgeable young man who handled the situation professionally and quickly He opened a case and forwarded it to the fraud department cancelled my card and issued a new one He said that there would be some paperwork coming from AFCU that I would need to fill out and return and that there were no charges to my account from apple only attempts He verified the last transaction with me and it was one that I had made I did receive my new card but never received any of the paperwork they mentioned I contacted the call center again and the agent said she didn t know anything about any paperwork and just don t worry about it So far there haven t been any issues in that regard However now every time I make a transaction online with the card it gets declined and I immediately receive a text message from AFCU fraud department asking me to verify if I made the purchase that they suspect fraudulent activity Luckily I don t use this card that often and I still have to call the customer service center and verify that yes I made this charge I m going to try again please unblock my card Etc Why weren t they this proactive when I actually was being scammed by the apple scammers I still have yet to be contacted by a representative from the credit union itself or the fraud department I can t help but wonder if my scam experience was an inside job It s difficult to deal with these people with a credit card I certainly wouldn t want to use them for regular banking I used to have a favorable opinion about this company but leadership or something has drastically changed and it has been for the worse I do not recommend them

Do not bank here
Have unfortunately had nothing but negative experiences with AFCU since becoming a member Am in the process of closing my accounts with them and transferring to Marine Corps or Navy Fed CU Any time you have even a slight issue with your account nothing is resolved until you call them again and again until they just get tired of hearing from you Customer service sound like they just woke up when they answer the phone I would never recommend this credit union to anyone Oh and my checking account was hacked and it took them 2 weeks to get the funds back into my account Not acceptable

Long term customer with a credit card
Long term customer with a credit card and savings account I hadn t used the credit card since 2018 so I wrote to close the account No communication from them since 2018 I was told that they began charging me 5 month to maintain the account never notified of this until the balance was zero Some might call this theft

I have been a customer for years but last 5 TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE
I have been a customer for years but the last 5 or so the company has become very very very shady Unexplained fees for example 40 overcharged and was told it was the local exchange rate 40 over official rate The call center person could do nothing was advised to visit local branch The online email was just morons who are rude argumentative and when informed this was my business to know the rates i was told pay or go delinquent my choice Was rolled over for years CD even though I know I elected to not roll over because I would need the money in 5 years I got a well you must have made mistake see you 30 days before the CD ends in 4 yrs 11 months Credit Card had fixed rate of 7 was told to change to better card for higher balance 10k available not 5k was told the APR would be competitive as always a 19 99 is not competitive and was told re-apply for new card when Feds reduce interest rate Most of time can not use the card as fraud watch comes up for anything over 500 so I must call in and authorize the purchase I put travel alerts on my account does not help still must call from overseas and say yes I am using my card in this country Annoying as it is EVERY time even though I notify AFCU them weeks in advance of my travel schedule JUST AVOID THIS BANK AT ALL COST unless you really have no other options Save yourself stress and headaches as your are not their concern only your money they care about
