Steer Clear of A Owen Motors Misleading Ads and Rude Staff Sara and Gabby

Terrible experience with A Owen Motor Group I bought a car from them that had faulty features and a misleading advertisement When I raised this issue I was ignored and dismissed Gabby and Sara promised me a refund for my travel expenses but now deny this I have a recording of them making this promise The lack of professionalism and customer care is appalling I ve been trying to resolve this for over a week with no resolution Do not waste your time or money here

Avoid Car not fit for purpose

My son purchased a C1 in January2025 When we first viewed it there was an oil leak that appeared to be from the rocker cover Wr were assured this would be fixed and we would get a call when done I had the call a few days later to say it was ready to collect We returned that weekend to collect We drove it to drop my son to Basingstoke and it was burning oil smoking We assumed it was excess oil that had dripped onto the exhaust causing it which is usually the case We drove it back to Southampton and it was burning more oil leaking and started misfiring My husband who is Mechanic with his own LTD company in the motor repairing trade he discovered the rocker cover had NOT been replaced The old one was still there It was also obvious this hadn t been done because to get to it the wiper arm and scuttle panel had to be removed and the wiper arm was ceased on Indicating this had not been removed within the last few days Further investigation showed the leak was infact from the head gasket My husband called A Owen motors and explained They originally offered to recover it and repair there it s not drivable however due to the original blantant lies stating the rocker cover had been changed I had no faith in them knowing this was my sons 1st car and i need it to be safe on the road After a few calls it was agreed that they would pay my husbands business directly to do the repair they offered just 200 for what should be a 600 job he was already doing it half price and requested 300 dealership said they would supply the parts That was 3 weeks ago The parts hadn t been sent We called and they said to collect the parts and they would also pay the bill then It s a 2 hour round trip on top of a 5 hour repair job They could simply order them to a motor factor to collect in Southampton And pay over the phone or bank transfer They are clearly being awkward constantly getting told I need to speak to my superiors I ll call back they never do Avoid this company We will be taking this further my son paid nearly 4k of which at 18yo he had saved its a lot of money for this car as his first car and it should be reliable and safe We will also be getting it re MOT after reading other reviews and will will go to Vosa if there are any failures not noted

Did not return deposit after not selling the car

They took a deposit for a car told me they needed to do final checks and valet the car before collection They didn t call weeks went by with them not answering calls or saying they were doing final checks and would contact me shortly Eventually they replied to an email saying that they had found a fault and had no timescale for fixing it offering my deposit back The deposit was not refunded and it s now a legal dispute

Bad cars

This company will try their best to screw you out of your money I purchased a car from then with 12 months mot and when I took it to the garage because it went into limp mode they said that the car isn t road worthy then I had to pay a company to come and inspect it the problem was bad mechanics that don t speak English after a few days they told me it was repaired so I got a train to pick it up on way home went into limp mode again I had to pay for another inspection for them to say it hasn t been repaired correctly A owens tried to say it was our fault managed to get a part refund now I m having to go through the ombudsman to try and get the remainder Stay away them these con artists

Don t buy a car from A Owen in Newbury

If you buy a car from A Owen have it immediately thoroughly checked by a garage specialising in the car s manufacturer They sold us a car which was heading for engine and brake failure was not fit for purpose and what seemed to be a falsified MOT We found them to be evasive and untrustworthy The single star is the worst option

An expensive mistake

I bought a car from A Owen and inside of a couple of weeks it s undrivable A request for repair was met with a statement that the faults were due to wear and tear - impossible of course as the mileage was so low Dishonest in the extreme I ll be claiming a refund asap and won t be going back again I would caution anyone against purchasing from this company it s a very risky prospect

Don t buy a car from A Owen motor group I wish we had read the reviews on here before we had purchased our car from them as clearly it s not the first unsatisfactory car they have sold We had only had our car 3 weeks before there were issues with the engine and black smoke coming from the exhaust after months of back and forth with them they said they were unable to repair the car so we asked to collect our car from them for a second opinion however they said the only option now was a refund so that s what we had to go with however 2 days after this we see our car has gone back up for sale for more money than we paid just shocking company and customer service with extremely rude staff
