Worst Airline Ever
Flew with Avianca few times usually there are issues This time it s just taking it to another level I booked a direct flight to Guatemala from San Jose Costa Rica in August 2023 Within 6 months they changed the flight 3 times no notifications only by chance I found the information when on their website Website is awful not user friendly doesn t load properly there is no option to manage flight when you input the booking reference Each time I had to call contact centre and wait for 45 mins to be connected to actual human being Now yesterday they just cancelled my flight all together and put me on the flight via El Salvador So now instead of flying for 1 hours direct flight I have been put on 4 5 hrs flight with a connection What the hell I would never chose to fly that distance with a connecting flight They refuse any compensation and offered me flight on another day How can I if I am already booked for business inc transport and accommodation The worst thing is - they continue to advertise 4 yes 4 daily direct routes to Guatemala from San Jose people fall for it and book the flight just to then get a cancellation and no change in price Scam robbery and disgrace I will be taking this complaint to the financial ombudsmen

Appalling terrible service
Appalling terrible service I thought that American or Delta were bad but this company was able to lower the bar even lower probably sub floor level We flew from JFK to Bogota international 5 hour flight and they would not even bring you water as on board service Of course you could pay for a can of coke or a beer but not even a complementary cup of water or cup of coffee given that they are a Colombian company Be prepared for another customs and immigration check up even if you are just on transit only in Colombia On top of that our connecting flight another terrible Avianca experience was late four hours and we had to spend a couple of hundreds in food and drinks in order not to get dehydrated or famished I will avoid them at all cost in the future and so should you

Paid over 700 for a trip to El
Paid over 700 for a trip to El Salvador They don t give you even a drink during the flight They want to sell whatever junk they have I get alt least peanuts and drinks on even short flights in the US What a joke of service they have In El Salvador they conduct a second revision shoes off scanner etc after you have already gone to the security checkpoint The avianca revision took over 1 hour - almost lost the flight They figure they are servicing brown people and they can do whatever they want with them since they do not have market competition

Disgusted Worse airline ever they cancel and make changes to your flights as if theirs is no tomorrow Due to changes made by the airline I managed to be offered a refund which after two months still not been given to me WILL NEVER BE USING AVIANCA AGAIN

100 years of utterly dismal customer service The website doesn t work the app doesn t work the helpline doesn t work the Whatsapp bot needs more time to learn Business class is primative beyond belief staff seem more interested in gossiping than serving customers and if you have the temerity to ask a steward for something you get an icy glare that could freeze the snowballs off a snowman Basically avoid at all costs or build a boat

UATP refund cards are ridiculous
Without going into details it s important to know that the UATP card for a refund from a flight we were unable to take even with a doctor s letter is impossible to access I had to go to an Avianca office for help We were able to use it for another flight but we didn t use the entire amount and when we tried to use the balance again having to go to the office several times we got different answers each time and left because it was just too much trouble Those UATP cards must be real money makers for them

Do not travel AVIANCA I have traveled in more than 10 airlines for the last 30 years and never experienced something like that No boarding service 1 dollar for a cup of water Premium seats don t recline No tvs on the seats They Overbook the flight and paid only half of the meals to the people left behind Took me 30 hrs to get to my destination Lost my rental reservation which was paid had to rent another car in the last minute which cost me 200 for one single day Could not buy luggages online they didn t allowed and had to buy at the airport with an outrageous 160 fee per luggage Premium seats are on top of each other you can t fit your personal bag under the seat I am only 5 1 and my legs were barely fitting I didn t underpay for my flights it actually cost me 1550 from Boston to Florian polis Brasil So they are not cheap I came to Brazil for dental work and couldn t finish now I have to come back and lose another 10 days of work and spend more money They refused to take the lost Too many bad things DONT BUY AVIANCA You will deeply regret

32 5 hours delay and no compensation
Unreliable disorganised and no customer support We were meant to leave at 11pm from Bogot to London After almost 3 hours in the plane we were asked to disembark because there was a defect in the plane They took until 6am to get us all checked in to hotels and were told we wild fly the next day at 5 PM The next day the plane was still broken and they told us we would leave at 2 am They left 3 young air hostesses to face the angry crowds no management or senior staff showed up Eventually the plane left at 7 30 am 32 5 hours late According to Avianca policy they should give us a refund but they refuse to do so We have gotten nothing from them even though we had to spend 1100 euros on a new connecting flight
