Campabout OZ are a fraudulent business They took our 6 000 deposit and have not refunded us They don t answer phones or emails Do not use this company

Buyer beware

Buyer beware This place takes deposits and holds for beyond the contract terms without any communication Won t answer emails or phone calls It s all great customer service until the vehicle is dropped off and you hand over your money We had equipment missing including compressor and fridge Attention to detail is terrible The drivers dropping off plead ignorance and you basically need to try and sort it out yourself After speaking with other operators their practise of 3 week deposit hold AFTER you return the vehicle is not standard practise and gives industry a bad reputation Please try and find alternate options You are risking not having your deposit returned even if the vehicle is left in the same condition They do not care for their customers

Recommend STEER CLEAR of Campabout Oz

It has now been a little over a year since myself and two friends hired a Prado 4WD from Campabout Oz to travel from Darwin to Broome The vehicle had lots of windscreen and panel damage but we were assured it was safe We did incur some scratches from a rock which was kicked up while travelling They took our full 6 000 bond even though we had the damage valued at no more than 2 000 without any discussion or quotations provided They do not return phone calls texts or e-mails and just stonewalled us We engaged the WA Dept of Industry Regulation but they stonewalled them as well Our only option now is to take them to the Magistrates Court which we are considering

Update on Campabout Oz

This is an update to a review I wrote in October 2024 Like many of the other reviewers here Campabout Oz did not return our 6000 bond despite the fact we returned the vehicle in good condition and received confirmation from them that our bond would be returned Once we realised that we were not getting our bond back no contact from the company phone disconnected etc we pursued multiple paths to rectify the situation One avenue was our bank to see if the transaction could be reversed After 4 months we finally have our money back Our understanding is the merchants bank allowed the transaction to be reversed This may be an option for those of you are still pursuing this Also we lodged a consumer complaint via the WA consumer affairs group Department of Energy Mines Industry Regulation and Safety who have taken the matter very seriously and are aware of multiple victims of this company If we had no success via the bank our next option was to lodge a claim through the WA Magistrates Court For those of you out there impacted please continue to pursue through the avenues you have available - it is crazy that a business can get away with this

SCAMMERS - Don t use them when you book online they immediately send you an invoice and ask you to make a deposit Once you have made the deposit it is impossible to get in touch with them they never return your calls their phones have been disconnected Tried to get my deposit back and they never contacted me again They ghost you completely and keep your money I have reported them

Avoid this clearly fraudulent company

We have had the same experience as other reviewers here We too contacted Western Australia Consumer Protection over the non refund of our bond Like us they had no success with phone calls or emails They finally managed to contact a director of the company who said she would report back within seven days but this didn t materialise Our money was finally refunded through our credit card company who were able to recover the funds from Campabout Oz under the UK consumer protection law Had this not been possible we would have gone through the WA magistrates court We like Sue V written two reviews before this strongly urge reviewers to do everything possible to bring this company to account We will be contacting WA consumer protection to suggest Campabout Oz should be thoroughly investigated and hopefully this appalling fraud will be permanently be dealt with If you have been similarly affected please do report your experience

Do not book - they steal your bond money

We hired a vehicle and caravan from Perth to Broome and returned it in perfect condition Everything was fine until we tried to get our bond back Now when we want our bond of 7 000 Campabout Oz don t have working phones don t answer emails ignore WA Consumer Protection They are completely fraudulent Update - We are now going through the Magistrate s Court and have contacted Channel 7 News Perth We have also lodged a form with the WA Ombudsman for the inability of WA Consumer Protection to actually protect consumers Highly recommend all defrauded customers to do the same Hopefully we can help stop this happening to anyone else and damaging the beautiful WA Tourism Industry and the great operators that are out there
