Do not buy gift vouchers from Champagne Route
I received a lovely gift from a friend for my 60th birthday of a 50 gift voucher from Champagne Route It was getting near to a year since I was given the lovely gift so went to spend it only to find it had been bought prior to my birthday and had expired I actually thought it was now law that vouchers had to last 5 years but I discovered this is wrong However reputable companies will usually honour the gift card as they have taken the money or at least will extend for a fee and now most respected companies offer well over a year of validity I called Champagne Route and was told they would look into it and get back to me I called two days later as they didn t get back to me and again was told by the same person they would get back to me I then received a text saying Dear my name we spoked with accounts and unfortunately we will not be able to accept the voucher after expire date Thank you Champagne Route I told them I thought it was very poor show and that the very least they could do was offer to extend for a fee I also pointed out that bad reviews cost more than the sum they were refusing to honour I asked them to reconsider They replied I want to clarify that Champagne Route will not be accepting the expired voucher We also feel that the previous message presented to us come across as blackmailing and threatening especially given that we see no justifiable reason for this approach I think not showing good will by honouring a 50 gift voucher which would costs the company nothing and not even offering to extend for a fee deserves a mention I think it also shows the calibre of the company issuing the voucher Interesting that they were quick to plead blackmail and threatening whereas I would be inclined to consider the situation as me reporting legalised theft In short anyone who is considering buying a dear friend a voucher from Champagne Route think again they expire after a year and if you think they are a decent company that would extend good will and honour the gift think again they are not I do hope that Champagne Route now see that you reap what you sow and I would like to advise them that any request to remove this honest account of their customer policy for dealing with expired vouchers will receive the same good will response they have afforded me Happy Birthday to me
