I was injured by a personal trainer in December 2021 on a Leg Press machine where the guy i hired to teach me how to use the machines uped my weight to 160kg on my last session week 10 which was my very first experience on leg press He was distracted the whole session looking at his smart phone multiple times rushing me and even shortened my hour session to rush off He pushed me hard to do this weight then afterward leading into the next day I felt extremely sore could barely walk for 4 days then went through almost 10 months of hell in pain every day with an injured lower back spine This has now led to 5 vertebrae in my lower spine with Osteoarthritis This has changed my quality of life and suffer every day with sciatic nerve pain pins and needles lack of feeling chronic pain from my lower back all the way down to my right foot The ongoing cost to me to purchase Voltaren pain killers plus medical bills are piling up The management and personal trainer are refusing to take accountability for this nor will they help cover any cost incurred with this happening nor any remorse I have never had a formal apology nor has the trainer involved apologised to me nor accepting he has done this permanent damage to me even with the series of events stemming from the moment of the injury I have had an xray and MRI scan to prove the permanent damage to my lower spine I am taking legal action soon and going to make sure noone else goes through such an ordeal again

Basically scam Their gyms are not user friendly and your contract basically is selling your soul to these guys Would not recommend giving them your details ever

There management is not supportive at all Me and my brother was training and were using powder for lifting One of the gym staff member which was not work on that day but was training right next to us Got angry and jealous because we were lifting heavy and he came up to us and started saying us ego lifting and weight slamming and all That mf even touch our barbell we were using and start lifting and said that s how we should lift I mean what the hell man and who the hell are you My brother got pissed and told him to leave and mind his own business as he has no right to interrupt us Then he ganged up with bunch of other animals and force us to leave the gym He even push my brother I regret till today for not punching him back but we act as professional and left because no point of arguing morons We even complained cityfitness management and ended up getting BANNED However the other guy still in the gym working out like nothing happen Such an irresponsible management didn t support us

Terrible customer service Lied to about the nature of my subscription I notified them in person that I was cancelling my subscription a week before I left the country and they told me to send them an email so I did Weeks later they were still charging my account so I sent a follow up email and they demanded I complete a form and pay 4 additional weeks FROM THE DATE OF THE SECOND EMAIL 3 months later they are still charging that card and I am in contact with New Zealand Consumer Protection and pursuing legal action Cold indifferent unhelpful and inhuman Constructive feedback If someone tells you they are leaving the country and needs to cancel their subscription DO IT in person that day Do not take them for a 3 month ride charging the card all along the way

Oh my goodness How did I ever get myself in this situation Currently trying to get out of this subscription I specifically paid for premium - flexible cancel anytime it says on ads THAT IS NOT TRUE AT ALL All subscription is subject to 4-weeks notice But once i informed that I am cancelling they would reply after 2 days different customer service everytime Telling me i needed to pay another fee upfront when I signed up or else I am still tied up for a year That wasn t explained at all So I said go ahead and just apply the fees - but since it has been dragging along im also paying the weeks along On top of the 4-weeks notice It is so disheartening

Be careful from joining Read the contract well and do not always believe their team members Joined but decided to cancel because of my son Took a while for the cancellation process and their devious subtle cancellation conditions which was not well explained by their team

Free to cancel No it is not 4 week notice 4 weeks notice then cancel No they will still charge you even though applied on-line and received confirmation You have to notice at desk again Will update what happened again The desk not even able to see your last day City Fitness dose not want let membership goes until collecting and squeezing the last penny

Liked it until the fineprint kicked in

For the time I attended CityFitness I really liked it Very cheap seemingly and lots of equipment Kept well clean The trouble is it s cheap So long as you aren t planning on leaving If you want to leave you better cough up whatever made up fees they fling on you I was charged 200 to leave from their Basic plan even though the whole point I was leaving was because I couldn t afford it anymore Unfortunately this realisation has utterly destroyed any good influence this gym had on me And i recommend everyone be better off joining a more expensive gym that doesn t have rediculous fineprint in their contracts

City Fitness More Focused on Money Than Members

I m very disappointed with City Fitness Six months ago I joined through Exercise NZ paying a joining fee I intended to upgrade to the Premium Membership after my initial term However when I went to renew only days after the membership had lapsed I was told my membership had expired and I d need to pay another joining fee This feels unfair especially since I was planning to continue Instead of upgrading to the 18 per week Premium Membership I opted for the 7 per week option because of this extra charge They also charge a fee on top of each transaction so you end up paying 3 every time the membership fee is deducted from your bank City Fitness seems more focused on making money than on customer satisfaction Very disappointed
