Overseas move
I thought i was dealing with a professional company how wrong i was A van turned up with no tail lift and no trolley to move my stuff down the drive I had to help carry and load my effects onto the truck The crew only had bubble wrap not a box in sight My numbering system was ignored they put their labels on any box they felt like they could so easily have matched numbers This caused a lot if confusion with contents for customs and myself When i contacted conroys to discuss this along with the damaged and missing items they were completely indifferent If you value your items and want a great experience AVOID using this company

Shoddy service
Sent a filing cabinet and small wooden cupboard They broke one of the legs of the cupboard and lost one of the shelving supports Didnt pay for insurance as it was too expensive - not surprised at the way they treat other people s property Will never use these cowboys again

Nightmare - avoid like the plague
- Conroy were paid to pack down our house the day before the move but sent only 1 packer who looked around the house for 5 minutes said had forgotten his tape dispenser and then drover away without a word He told us the rest of his team were sick with COVID - Conroy management told us the packer had refused the job due to health and safety concerns The house was safe The job was impossible for 1 person in a day He came from a job half an hour before at 9 00am and went straight to another job It s obvious Conroy were trying to cover for staffing shortages by lying to and blaming customers to avoid their own liability for rescheduling After we managed to somehow pack everything down ourselves in time for the move they underestimated the volume of stuff by 30 despite having an itemised list and a walkthrough Leaving us without a fridge for 3 weeks over xmas while the Nelson team waited for another delivery going in our direction - The uplift team took great care to wrap furniture and load items for the first couple of hours but as soon as the end of the day was drawing near just started throwing boxes and items marked fragile onto the pile of stuff resulting in several breakages - Similar happened when the stuff was unloaded The team are friendly and ask where to put boxes for the first hour or so and then decide time s up and dump everything in a pile in the middle of the first room - After the final delivery with the leftover items I noticed that two 4k monitors that belong to my employer were missing from the delivery It took over a week of phone calls and emails before Conroys staff finally accepted that they were missed and started looking It was a month and a half after we moved before they finally showed up - We have asked multiple times to be refunded for the 1479 we paid upfront for Conroys to pack the contents of our house which they did not do but they completely ignore our requests - Do not trust this company They are irresponsible unprofessional and will take your money and then lie to your face rather than accept responsibility for their issues

Absolutely appalling company to deal
Absolutely appalling company to deal with Completely disorganized from the outset Didn t listen to us when we explained multiple times their truck would not get down our driveway Incompetent packing and handling evidenced by the multiple damages to our goods Dented appliances broken equipment and then they somehow even managed to lose some of our things and even though we can t prove it we know items were stolen To make things worse we then we had to argue for weeks about the insurance claim which we ended up settling for less than replacement cost because we were just so sick of dealing with them No follow up not even an apology Nothing Not at any point did anyone take ownership This is business that deserves to go under If I could give them less than 1 star I would Find another removal company do not use Conroy Removals

DON T MOVE WITH CONROY
We have in the past moved from Canada to New Zealand and from Auckland to Wellington and back Our latest move with Conroy within Auckland had the most frustrations and the most damage Our move was scheduled well in advance for packing on 17 July and moving on 18 July On the morning of 17 July ONE packer showed up at the house and started to pack At about 3pm two more packers arrived but the packing wasn t finished on the 17th On the morning of the 18th the packers returned to complete the packing In the meantime the truck which I understand was contracted to Conroy rather than being a Conroy truck didn t get to the house until about 11am After twice filling up the truck driving to the other house and unloading the move was finally completed at about 6pm While the personnel we dealt with were pleasant and tried to be helpful it appears that the problems with the packing and the damage were created by the pressure the packers and movers were under to complete the work i e the job was significantly under-resourced On 25 July after unpacking everything I sent Conroy a list of the damage with photographs The reply was to tell me that I had to provide an estimate of the repair costs In my past dealings with insurance claims the insurance company has always sent an assessor to examine the damage and the insurance company has either arranged for the repairs to be made or has recommended one or more repair companies I have NEVER had to provide an estimate of the repair costs myself as the first step in getting to a claims settlement I asked Conroy who I could get to do the repairs and the answer was that the Auckland branch used D R I contacted D R and after two weeks 21 August someone from D R came to inspect the damage On 14 September some 3 weeks later I received an offer of settlement with no explanation When I asked for the basis of the offer of settlement I was provided with a copy of the quote from D R dated 8 September The insurance person at Conroy then informed me that he had been instructed to go to the insurance company for approval and the offer of settlement was withdrawn Surely the insurance company should have involved a lot earlier than that and that probably should have happened when I submitted my original report and photos of the damage The insurance company would then have been involved in the claims process and would have been much more helpful in getting the repairs done Fortunately the insurance company moved quickly and on 20 September approved the claim and has just paid the claim amount to us less the deductible In the meantime I have finally heard from D R after a month telling me that they are still too busy to do the repairs One of the damaged items is a bed frame and until it is repaired we can t use the bed I think that Conroy should have been much more proactive in getting the damage repaired since the damage really should not have happened in the first place Overall this move was badly managed by Conroy resulting in a lot of stress and some damage We would not use them again and would not recommend them to anyone

Absolutely terrible company
Absolutely terrible company Would never recommend They moved our belongings from NZ to Australia On arrival in NZ they wrapped our things and then pretty much threw them into the container with no courtesy or respect On arrival in Australia they did the exact same threw in our boxes into our storage unit No care anywhere On opening our kitchen boxes every single plate bowl glass were completely shattered into millions of pieces Every item was bubble wrapped 3x each by us On trying to complain to Conroys emails weren t answered until 3 or 4 times sent Our BBQ was all bent and damaged also and outside garden ornaments smashed which had been bubble wrapped by us but on them delivering them they had unwrapped them and put them in a box with just paper The items were extremely heavy and on them picking them up looked like the items had literally just dropped through the bottom of the box Then they were pretty much matter of fact about it Thankfully we had insurance which paid up quickly although there was a 500 excess qld conroys had given in writing to us 250 The insurance clause was because we had packed our own items but conroys failed to mention this conroys don t offer an option for them to pack our home contents We moved to NZ from the UK many years before this with another company and never had any damage at all Conroys are terrible no consideration to your belongings at all No customer service either

Beware of Conroys NZ
Delivery to house moved cities and had 1x tall boy damaged the back board was broken off 3x out of 6x dresser draws broken one bottom and back completely smashed off 2x bottom damaged and backs broken off due to carelessness from movers no apology no acknowledgment of what they had done Other pieces of furniture damaged but nothing compared to the bedroom suite Would not recommend Better and cheaper movers available

The worst experience
The worst experience Not only our belongings arrived 3 months late but there is also more than a thousand dollars of damages No wonder they tell you not to take the insurance because it s not worth it The first contact was not too bad so I assume it depends on who you deal with Unfortunately for us our contact was Elizabeth in Australia we moved from New Zealand to Australia Elisabeth is very good at ignoring emails and phone calls We had to call them every step of the way to ask them to put our container on a container ship it was forgotten somewhere to remind them that final destination is Adelaide it was put on a ship to Melbourne to remind them that the container should go through customs more than a month between its arrival in Adelaide and the actual inspection and to remind them that they need to deliver the container We even had to fight for that final step as their initial answer was we can t deliver before a month Planning is not one of their strengths But eventually we got our belongings What a disaster Furniture broken desks chairs cutter cuts on furniture table frames boxes completely smashed books crushed broken dishes and glasses etc You name it we got it This was just not properly packed To be honest they did offer some compensation for the delay However it s very far from covering the cost of the damages

Disgusting Customer Service
Total Disgrace Our belongings were damaged scratched dented bent We didn t take insurance because seriously what is the point They never pay out All we wanted was acknowledgement that they committed the damage and an apology However they would only say well you didn t take out insurance so blahblahblahCustomer services wouldn t even apologise wthCustomer services Conroys hang your head in shame and disgust Shame Shame Shame

Conroy s sell a service which they have no intention of providing None of our items were labelled a number of items were lost and could not be replaced and the majority of our items were damaged They refuse to answer your calls even the General Manager refused to answer any of our calls regarding our items their whereabouts or the fact that they failed to provide the service sold Their customer service once they have your money is absolutely appalling Would never use again This move happened in March 2023 It still haunts us
