Absolutely incompetent and a waste of time
Absolutely incompetent and a waste of time Appalling organisation I had to became a member for the purposes of help with some debt and a loan for a deposit for accommodation You can only apply for a loan after membership of 2 months However after nearly 3 months I found out my application had been turned down in a very curt manner because I couldn t afford to repay the loan I was then told l couldn t apply for a another loan for 3 months My annual income then was 21 100 and has risen to 23 700 NET What more do these people want I needed the loan to pay a deposit and months rent in advance I made other arrangements and have found new accommodation No thanks to credit-union coop I have taken CU to County Court I plan to complain to the Financial Ombudsman and then take steps in taking them to the High Court Avoid at all costs Waste of time No help whatsoever

Poor customer service extremely poor
Poor customer service extremely poor office management Some NOT ALL staff lack basic customer care training and this shows in their inept management of any concerns raised There are many more not for profit organisations that do not operate like this AVOID Complaints procedure is an absolute joke with the person dealing with complaints blinded by his own arrogance and complete failure to be objective and absorb facts correctly Pathetic and woefully inadequate service All funds withdrawn would not recommend them at all Staff rude sarcastic and discourteous on the phone

Dispiriting and depressing
LCCU helped me out back in 2016 when I had credit problems while waiting to sell the family home I was grateful to them Since then I ve had several loans which I always paid back early and in full Just last year when my financial position was worse than it is now I borrowed three times as much as I have just applied for and was successful If they are short of funds this year they didn t explain this The recent experience of applying for a loan was exhausting No one appears to speak to anyone else even though their office is now open I was told I had filled the form in well and only one more bank statement was needed but I was eventually after many many phonecalls visits and hours spent trying to provide what they needed turned down on the basis that I had not evidenced my ability to repay the loan I was told I had not read their website properly But no one in their office was of any help making sure I had what they needed to approve the application They seemed to have been trained just to field calls One person s approach to doing this was to hang up on me after I explained that I cannot use online banking They were then told I believe to show empathy by which they seemed to mean sympathy but I did not want this I wanted competent help making sure my application could be approved I wanted to feel they were on my side There was no reason not to approve it they just didn t look at it properly then blamed me Hardly anyone working there seems to have much understanding of the ethos of credit unions or the principles on which they are set up One person told me it was company policy to require me to use the online app which I cannot use I recently asked them to witness an application for something but they said it was not their job and I should only come to them about loans But looking at their constitution this is not true at all They were set up on social principles and I am a member I have voting rights but I was not treated as a member I felt like a very unwelcome customer As a result of trying to get this loan my credit rating has dropped and I have wasted much time and honestly feel depressed I don t think they assessed my application properly and they have put me in a difficult position by not doing so I feel they were prejudiced against me and did not want to deal with the fact that I cannot use online banking I also felt uncomfortable sharing my documents with so many people and not confident that they would respect data laws All the other loans I ve had and interest I ve paid seem to count for nothing and in fact I doubt they even knew I d had them They were not interested in discussing further and just sent a standard email saying their decision was final I have no confidence in them

Extremely poor service and very mediocre and uncompassionate understanding from them My loan application was rejected on the grounds that I haven t saved with them Well how can I save when I need a loan in the first place Terrible service and understanding You made me go through a lot of document attaching and app installing only to be told my application was unsuccessful I work full time and could comfortably paid the instalments

Avoid London Credit otherwise your life would be ruined London Credit plan carefully to drag you to default by promising would change the bridge to Buy To Let then invoicing you ridiculously then call receiver attack to own what you have This is our very recent experience

Ruined my credit file Been a member for over 2 years and never gave me a loan each time ruining my credit file because of their hard credit checks Claims one needs to save with them before can get loan but nowhere in your terms does it say one has to pay anything before they can get a loan Also makes ridiculous excuses not to provide a loan I will be cancelling my membership Disgraceful

London Capital Credit Union saving through work - works
I joined London Capital Credit Union through my employer last year The Union has helped me save for my holiday coming up this summer- I believe the deductions coming straight out of my wages has made this possible as it makes it less tempting to use that money Taking out an initial loan certainly boosted my savings as that is one of the requirements when borrowing- not often found with regular loans it also reassured me that should my savings be used for another person s loan then that person would be saving too - thus compensating me Whenever I have had a query I often email and this is responded to within 24 hours I appreciate the Union is not a bank so the staff there are doing their best and I ve been treated politely and they have always been helpful I am surprised by the reviews of others on here but once actually reading them they re just annoyed their loan wasn t approved My experience tells me that it s best to at least save a bit beforehand - a loan should come down the line
