Working for DA as a Self-Employed Interpreter

I have been working with DA Languages as a Freelance Interpreter for almost two years now I had previously worked on some interpreting assignments prior to this but had had limited exposure Whilst I wasn t paid very much in the beginning I was grateful that DA gave me the opportunity and trusted in me to represent their service Since I started delivering assignments for DA my rate of pay has increased by 70 One thing I have noticed about DA is that they value commitment continued self -improvement flexibility and the ability to build positive relationships with service users and clients alike They embrace hard work positive attitude reliability professionalism and an excellent delivery service in an extremely fast paced environment The role requires not only accuracy expertise and professionalism but the ability to be highly organised and to juggle multiple tasks calmly respectfully and with good humour Client feedback is noted and many times a client will be specific about the interpreter they wish to attend their appointments DA recognise this and encourage this for the purposes of continuity I have developed some excellent relationships with DA staff as well as highly skilled consultants NHS each time learning from all in this process I had had prior linguistic qualifications however this year completed the Community Interpreting L3 valued and notice by DA as commitment My next stage is to progress to complete the DPSI L6 in Law for my own continued professional development I believe that as in any profession we need to be consistent and demonstrate what we bring to the table in order for recognition and reward Being demanding and holding high expectations of self before showing commitment to the role I d say would never be a functional recipe Having a certificate does not mean you have the ability to manage people nor the multiple abilities needed to succeed in this role I love this role and continue to strive for improvement
