Avoid at all costs
I purchased a car from Direct Cars a few weeks ago Me and my husband collected it one evening and got it home to find both the speakers on the offside weren t working correctly the sound was quiet and tinny I rang Direct Cars the next morning to get my car booked in for them to look at I told them I d checked the balance and fade to no avail I was told the car could take a couple of hours to be checked over as they d have to have panels off and so offered a courtesy car That way Direct Cars would keep my car if a part needed ordering and fit it the same day or the following day if the part didn t arrive on time I declined the courtesy car as I live half an hour away and it should have been a simple check so courtesy car seemed pointless and told them I would wait at my friends house who lives locally I arrived on the day it was booked in to find I was actually booked in for a windscreen repair This meant the electrical guy wasn t available when I was booked but half an hour after my arrival he spent five minutes he didn t take any panels off didn t even move my car from the carpark with my car and said the front speaker needed replacing When I asked the man on the desk about the rear speaker he said the back one would be trying to compensate for the broken front one and when the front was fixed it would be fine I m no expert but this sounded like nonsense to me this is not how speakers work This was the same person who when I arrived and explained the problem told me there was probably nothing wrong with the speakers and I d just forgotten to check the balance - patronising much I m a woman not an imbecile Anyway I waited while a new speaker was ordered and told they d ring me when it had arrived Unconvinced that this would solve my issue I went away and received a phonecall at almost 5pm the following working day to state the speaker had arrived I booked it in for this morning to be fitted Granted it was done quickly about an hour after my dropping it off but low and behold when I got in my car and checked before leaving the rear speaker didn t work The man who d fed me that nonsense wasn t the one serving me today instead it was Debbie who had booked me in for my windscreen repair but he was at the desk next to her When I stated the back speaker wasn t working he said he d only ordered the front one because that s all he d been told to do Apparently the word of the customer in front of him telling him BOTH speakers weren t working was meaningless as she s just a woman and doesn t know any better So I now have to go back a THIRD TIME to resolve this issue Frankly it s an issue you don t really expect when spending the best part of ten grand on a car - something as simple as speakers should be checked before a car is sold surely Oh and what s more the car s log book was missing Nick the man who initially sold us the car gave us an electronic print out on one sheet of paper of all of the services the car has had and told us that stamps in log books can be easily faked so all records are digital now However unhappy with this we my husband and me asked that we be provided with an actual service log book Not an unreasonable request surely Nick promised us that he would track down at their own cost no less the service log book for the car and then let us know when he d done that Well it s been over two weeks and I m still waiting Additionally I had to push for the MOT to be carried out as we were told by Nick that if a car has less than six months left on the MOT that Direct Cars would get a new one done This one was due to expire in June so Nick said that was outside of six months so they didn t need to do it When pushed Nick agreed to carrying out the MOT We did have to fork out for it to be taxed though If DC are reading this - I would like compensating for the stress you ve put me through what a horrid experience

Not good
We bought a car through a finance company who found the car we wanted at direct cars we spoke to Tom and Dave quite a few times on the phone paid the 500 deposit and arranged a day for me to make the journey by train from Oxford to sheffeild I spoke to Tom in the afternoon the day before and he said everything was in place for me to pick up the next day Got to sheffeild and he says I ve only had the car for an hour and your going to have to bring it back up to us at a later date to get all the damage in the back fixed they claimed to have done a 100 point check on the car and an mot a couple of days before yet he claimed they had only just got it Instead of taking the the damaged car home I took the train back home and they delivered it 2 days later where it was driven from sheffeild to Oxfordshire with no tax on it they didn t bring the new keepers slip either so another phone call to dave who did put 6 months tax on for us and reinburse us for one train ticket but all in all a pretty awful experience

disappointed with service
When we first started using this company it was outstanding The taxis were on time the fares very affordable lovely cars and clean and drivers very polite and courteous As people that need to use taxis alot due to health issues we have now over the years seeing this company decline to an almost non existant company Whilst many of the drivers are polite friendly and can be helpful there are those that are not We have had drivers that say they don t have card machine for customers to pay and therefore if they haven t got this they are breaking the law as they are meant to have it and if not meant to give a free ride its the law One can also lock in the price of a booking Also nowadays this company does not have many drivers and therefore cannot cover the jobs they are being passed on to another company so losing alot of money We have had many times where they Dont have a taxi no drivers we have had very late taxis even if pre booked and have lost medical appointments this actually happened again this morning we pre booked yesterday for early this morning but no taxis arrived at the time required they had passed the job to another company who was 20 minutes late and i am going a distance so will now be late My wife was once left stranded at a medical appointment as driver had no card machine told her he would do no favours when she informed him of the law stating its a free ride if they do not have card machine and drove off leaving a disabled person We have tried on numerous occasions to raise important issues via email with this company but no one ever replies or seems interested in putting things right to build a good reliable service and company Doubt they bother to read the emails They have become very unreliable as not sure you can get a taxi or if it will be on time Its sad to see this company declining as given the right management it could be so successful But instead they are operating a poor service and so little as a majority of bookings are passed onto other companies When there are so few taxi companies in the area one would think you would want to make it successful and help to provide locals with a good service Its a real shame to see how its being run and the fact this company is on a slide downhill

No MOT buyer has to pay to get it re MOT d
Made an enquiry about a car we were interested in and after going into some details it turned out that the MOT had expired 3 months previously which in itself isn t an issue the issue was that Direct cars said that if we bought the car we d have to pay to get it re-MOT d which frankly I was astounded at I have to wonder whether this is not mis-representation as the car in effect was a minimum providing it passed of 60 more expensive than advertised and there was no mention of it being sold without an MOT in the advert either and certainly the price didn t reflect that Needless to say based on that experience alone we wont be looking any further with this company

A friend who is disabled wanted to look
A friend who is disabled wanted to look at automatic cars here The guy on the desk said Theyre all up there pointing to the very top back row of the car lot which is huge We asked if they could fetch a particular model round to look at as my friend struggles to walk he replied no we don t do that He says she could have the keys to go view the car We asked can she have the keys to another she d like to view while we re up there to save having to walk there and back he said no we don t allow that I asked if my friend has 1 set of keys to view a car could I have a set to view the other one he said no I m not giving you both keys we re not allowed to So I asked if we could drive close up to the cars as my friend can t walk far he said no there are barriers up but you can park a bit higher up or go up the flight of steps to the top car lot my friend reminded him she s disabled and he said we can only do what he d said I then asked if there was a mobility person around he replied no we don t have one Yet their website advertises this DIRECTCARSSpecialistWheelchairAccessible DisabilityVehicles They have no skills in this matter and very ignorant to the fact and not helpful in anyway

Dodgy drivers will take advantage
Had a cab ride home at a normal price of 11 8 minute ride or so I told the driver that I forgot my keys and needed to head back to the original drop off address so about half the distance He wouldn t say anything about the price when I asked him He got my keys and dropped me back at mine about 4 minutes extra driving and he charged me and extra 15 on top of my original 11 When I asked him why it was so much he said I was lucky he didn t charge me 20 Took full advantage of me thinking I was drunk All in all about 15 minutes driving for him to get back to his taxi rank and did me for 26

Tip to Direct Cars staff
Tip to Direct Cars staff listen to your customers we are not STUPID I have been driving and owning cars for 37years Do not try to fob me off with a load of rubbish Maybe your staff think women know nothing about cars Having paid 16k for a car from DC I do not expect to be told that using seat belt covers so the belt doesn t rub my skin when driving is the reason the alarm car door is open goes off while I m driving Having used them on my vans and cars for the last 12 years I am flabbergasted to be given this excuse I m also told that the gear stick jumping is a characteristic of the car I think a few new Mechanics technicians might be called for Obviously I will be spreading the word do NOT buy a car from Direct Cars I wish I hadn t

Do not buy from Direct Cars
I bought a car from Direct Cars near Crystal Peaks June july 2021 As it was costing me over 8 000 pounds I expected it to be checked and re conditioned How wrong I was Within 5 months I have had to have a brand new twin exhaust which was completely rusted from top to bottom and new suspension springs There is no way this car would have passed an MOT I would never buy from these again and would advise anyone else to think twice before doing so The customer service may be good but the product they sell is not fit for purpose

AVOID Poor salesmanship so so rude
Went to buy a 16k car from these today with the full intention of purchasing After asking about the break pads and tyres which were recent advisories on the mot and then asking to about a discrepancy on the service history we got told the car wasn t for us Not happy at all to be spoken to the way I was will never return and never recommend I was told that scraped alloys chips to the window and panels not clipping in on the bumper is nothing they can do anything about Buy at your own risk can imagine if there is a fault with the car you buy you would have troubles getting them to take any responsibility AVOID
