Awful stay at a awful rundown place
The receptionist is one of the rudest people you can meet She is a disgrace and should be sacked Cut my stay short due to rude staff and slow service They took 1 and a half hours to bring out food for a child They made nonsense up about why the food took so long and everyone was upset about the wait Don t stay here They have gone downhill and should be closed If you re reading this dont make the mistake of paying to stay at this awful place

We stayed at Dunston Hall this week When we arrived they forgot to put the champagne in the room which we ordered Worse was to come however no one told us that it would carvery all week and no other options bar menu closes 4 30 sunday The carvery was the worst standard food I ever tasted cold unappetising almost uneatable breakfast just as bad II complained but no manager came to speak to me changing rooms dirty not cleaned in pool area shame as building is lovely could be made better when we asked on the sunday the waitress looked at her watch to ensure she could serve us bar food at 16 26 pm The fact I complained and asked to speak to duty manager but it never got passed on I think the standard of food for a 4 star hotel was shocking

This is a waste of money hotel Its maximum is a 2 star Bad Management Bad waiting staff Bad housekeeping And very Bad food A very Bad and upsetting 4 Day Christmas package Needs pulling down and re building with the right people in it Stay clear of this hotel

Attended for a wedding Staff slow and really didn t seem to know what they we re doing Food was disgusting beef so raw and fatty could not cut it let alone chew it Meal placed infront of me with a roast potato with a huge eye in it Unable to eat any of this and it was cold Desert could ve been better I had cheesecake which the coulis on the plate tasted and looked exactly the same as the raspberry sauce you put in your ice cream cheap and nastyPartner had sticky toffee pudding which was coldWill never return or recommend

Stunning views from the outside with lovely long driveway Once we checked in we were not shown or given directions as to where our room was Our room was difficult to find very poor signage Room was cold no robes or slippers Beds uncomfortable and hard Dog barking all night in the next room Breakfast was a greasy fry up every morning or fruit and yoghurt Melon or tin berries Had to queue for 20 minutes to get a cup of coffee at the coffee machine Swimming pool was cold no fun for the children Slow staff in the bar area Didn t know what they were doing half the time Spa was a disappointment I booked a full body massage at The Lilac Room I could either have hands and arms or neck and shoulders not both Back included Essential oils were not used Absolutely ridiculous We cut short our stay and checked out earlier Overall a very disappointing stay

Conned at Christmas Dinner
Christmas lunch set menu was an absolute shamble It took 3 hours for 3 courses courses to be served The food was cold One of the selling points of the beef main was a yorkshite pudding The dish came without one and when this was pointed out to staff I recieved a cold aunt bessies yorkshire pudding this was an 80 meal what an absolute joke In a room full of over 100 guests there wasn t anyone running the bar and when asked if we could order drinks we couldn t because food was being served The manager was rude and sulky when confronted with the facts of the poor service and when we could finally orded drinks the under manager was sulking at the bar The meal was an absolute joke we all left hungry and disappointed The business was happy to take our money and serve us cold food with portions the size of childrens meals

NO REFUND
Had been booked in with a works Christmas party and meal 4th December had paid 30 in advance Came down with COVID the Sunday before and work were informed Monday 29th but on checking with Dunston Hall no refund would be made at this stage as food would already have been ordered This was a genuine reason for a cancellation and in the present climate consideration for such a situation should have been in place I understand that hospitality services were suffering but customers should come first Unfortunately COVID didn t give any advance warning and it wasn t through partying but no doubt by being a key worker that the virus was contracted

Afternoon Tea
We arrived to the hotel enjoying the beautiful facade and thats where the good stuff ended We were directed to the bar area for the afternoon tea which is 30 a head so not cheap We eventually managed to attract someone s attention and got seated in what can be described as a staff walk way Behind the table was a counter that was strewn with dirty dishes and it took staff at least 40 mins to remove When the food arrived it was so underwhelming 2 finger sandwiches a tiny scotch egg and ham hock on a piece of rubbery stale bread Nobody ever came back to ask if drinks needed to be topped up and there was a constant moving of staff beside us that just seemed to be moving stuff around It was shambolic and not the relaxing tea we were hoping for When the cakes arrived they were clearly pre made bookers Very disappointed Good Scone though Expected so much more for the price

Dreadful service waited over an hour
Dreadful service waited over an hour for a roast lunch and when we queried it they said it was being plated and would be 2 to 3 minutes 10 minutes passed so went to bar to get a refund and said it was the longest I had ever had to wait for a meal and no-one had come over with an explanation as to why Then someone came out and made excuses for which I said it was not my problem was overheard by another customer who was walking out for the same reason and al9ng with us said it was the last time we would go there

I ve been trying to call throughout January via Q hotels booking service to book a spa break on their special offer I ve been in a queue for almost an hour each time before giving up the message says it might take 20 mins what a blatant lie You can t book spa breaks online either and the hotel doesn t accept direct calls The offer expires today what are the odds that if I rang tomorrow they d pick up I also emailed and so far no response Judging by the reviews on here I ve had a narrow escape
