More complex issue with European licence
I called the DVLA about a more complicated problem with a European licence today I only waited a few minutes in the line Not only did I speak to a knowledgeable person but he also tried to get out of his seat and really help me and search for my problem He could not help me at the time but told me what I needed to do next and next steps Thank you DVLA for paying good people to do a good service

They were good
It took 32 days from posting the hard copy form to receiving the driving licence Within that period they wrote to me for supporting documents which I sent them All mail went second class As follows 04 July I posted the application form 11 July I rang to ask if they had received it The agent said that the system does not log this information but that I should just sit tight and wait for the new licence 22 July I received a letter asking for further documentation I did not understand the letter 26 July I rang DVLA The agent explained why the query had arisen what kind of evidence I should send and what I should explain in the covering letter 27 July I posted the documents Royal Mail Second Class Signed For including covering letter and return envelope with enough stamps on it for Signed For return delivery 04 August I received the new licence and separately in my return envelope the documents I had sent Bingo With hindsight the trick was that I phoned and that the agent explained the logic plus what was needed Had we not gone through that I would have sent the wrong papers They struck the right balance between getting things right and getting things done
