An Engie door-to-door seller came to promote the company saying that after our 1-year contract with Green Choice we ll end up payng much more than we were paying then and this was the reason for us to switch suppliers However the problems started around the second month when we realized we have been charged by our former supplier with more than 400 euro although the Engie seller assured us they will take care of everything It turned out this wasn t a cancelation fee but the amount we owed Green Choice until the end of the contract They charged us because they provided the service in advance There was nothing to object about that but Engie refused to compensate us on the grounds that it wasn t a cancelation fee They took advantage of the fact that we don t speak Dutch and purposefully omitted telling us how suppliers deal with customers who terminate the contract earlier Please consider before changing to Engie They have a really bad attitude towards their own customers

Don t touch ENGIE with a barge-pole The reviews say it all I nearly switched to OCTOPUS energy and right at the last minute found out they were THE SAME COMPANY Engie are THE MOST DISHONESTl company I have ever dealt with I could include all the detail of my dealings with them over the last 12 months lies withholding deposit sky high admin costs broken promises procrastination unreturned calls deception you name it At the moment OCTOPUS has rave reviews but I suspect that will change Did OCTOPUS buy them out or ws a name change essential ENGIE OCTOPUS are crooks Run a mile in the other direction

Avoid at all costs totally incompetent
Avoid at all costs I had the unfortunate experience of taking over a property where Engie were the supplier I was stung with out of contract rates - fair enough but what is wrong is they lied continually about sending out correspondence about the supply which never arrived Once contact had been made trying to get a resolution took over 2 years I took them to the Ombudsman who ruled and set Engie several tasks to complete within 30 days These tasks were finally completed by Engie 11 months later They even had the cheek to send the case to a firm of Solicitors to act on the case stating our client is not aware of any dispute unbelievable Avoid at all costs

Disgusting misleading selling via telephone
A good elderly friend of mine was approached by phone early in the morning just before Christmas In addition the communication was rather blunt and unclear which meant that she thought she was talking to her supplier Vattenvall Through pure deception she was transferred to ENGIE The moment was chosen very consciously so she was too late to undo it In my opinion such practices are more than disgraceful approach older people and operate just within the rules of the law to work out an unwanted contract DISGUSTING update februari 24 2020By your request I gave you the information of my friend With it I EXPLICITLY WROTE that I will handle the discussion about this and that it was ok for you to call her to check if that indeed was so And now you didn t just call her to check that no you went into discussion with her and made her very clear that you weren t going to compensate her with a penny One thing has become clear to me adhering to norms of decency is not a part of your company motto I stay with my initial conclusion DISGUSTING

Dont be conned by ENGIE sales reps
I was contacted by phone on Sept 2 and was told that the deal I was offered by his colleague is incorrect and that there was a better offer that was meant to be given I asked to confirm as I recently changed supplier if this was through the same supplier The representative said yes its fine that he works between United Consumers and ENGIE He also stated that ENGIE is related to United Consumers and is a parent company I stated numerous times that I did not want to change suppliers and he re assured me this was not the case Also when questioned if I would need to pay a fine he said that I would not With all this misrepresentation and his failure to inform me of the facts and answer my questions honestly my guard was down and at the end of the conversation he got me to sign a contract Even when the representative was requesting my banking information I asked why he did not have this information believing that he was also representing United Consumers he only stated that due to dutch law he was not allowed to see this information I doubt now that this was the case I was also told that this was a cheaper offer however when I compare the costs this will be more expensive that what I had I would also like to note that the document signed did not have the price kwh gas m3 and all that was in the document was incorrect values After getting an email from my previous supplier saying sorry to lose me I phoned the customer line I was told its my fault as the logo and email was from ENGIE I explained that I was misinformed The customer care person then agreed with me and said they where sorry and that a complaint would be lodged Looking through some of the complaints on Trustpilot I see previous complaints have been filed however as I am in this situation I do not see how this has helped as this seems to be business as normal for ENGIE I was also informed that as I missed my 14 days to cancel I am now stuck with them Moral of this story if any sales rep phones or speaks to you from ENGIE don t listen to them put the phone down they will try and con you into a contract you cant leave which if I am correct is against the law They are scammers and will use every trick in the book to get you to sign up and the only recourse is they will lodge a complaint which does nothing

My roommate is an international student here in The Netherlands and we live in a student house from DUWO a student housing company where gas and electricity is included in the rent so even if we want to we cannot choose an electricity gas company ourselves Today she received a call from Engie and was confused by all the things they were explaining to her about rates and discounts and money and she doesn t speak Dutch so she thought it is DUWO So she signed a contract with them When she told me I immediately knew it is a SCAM We wrote them back to cancel contract withing our right of 14 days and they send back an email just saying it s cancelled We emailed again asking about written proof and confirmation of cancellation they said it is not necessary What We already contacted the police and they gave us a contact with a free lawyer that deals with such things so we will contact them tomorrow If they call you do not pick up

Worst company that can be
Its crazy company client service not help at all I was in other company and payd no more than 270eu per month with gas and electric now I pay just for the gass minimum 500eu Thats ridiculous and they dont even can explain why Was called to klientservice so they couldn t explain they told write email to them so i write 3 of them every week and now it s more than 3weeks still no answer was called again yesterday to klientservice and i got the same answer we are not that apartament so you need to send email to uss so I higly recommend skip this company if you dont want to owerpay

Worst customer support experience
Worst customer support experience If you are expat who only speaks english you dont have English IVR You manage to talk to them after 30 minutes on the line and when you will tak two lines in dutch like ik ben hoe gaat het met jouw they will reply Once you switch to English they just disconnect phone without saying anything Happend 3 times I have also been customer of Eneco they try their best to help even sometimes some ladies are very poor in English Difference between maturity of big companies and small scale companies
