Declined warranty work for damage caused by water ingress
Last May we discovered a fault with water coming in around the seal to our panoramic window on our Elddis caravan Unfortunately a lot of water got in before I thought to raise the front of the caravan to stop the water flowing forward off the roof Our workshop inspected and found the problem to be the seal around the top of the window They submitted a claim to Erwin Hymer to replace the seal with all of the associated work which Erwin Hymer subsequently accepted Because of the long delay in getting hold of the replacement parts and the workshop being able to book in a slot to complete the work it was early December before this job was actually started At this stage a crack was then found on the front plastic panel just coming from the the top of our panoramic window so a claim was also submitted for this This claim was declined I contacted Erwin Hymer directly to explain the circumstances preceding the discovery of the cracked panel In my view the most likely cause of the cracking would be due to framework movement around the window caused by swelling and shrinking of the timber because of it getting very wet and then drying out in the very hot summer We did have a temporary repair done when the fault was found which unfortunately failed and let in more water probably causing further swelling and movement of the wooden frame Despite the above explanation Erwin Hymer have still refused the claim stating that the cracking could have been caused by stressing as a result of travelling on abnormally rough roads not something we can recall doing at any time It seems looking at social media that there have been a huge number of complaints regarding cracked panels on Erwin Hymer group caravans Having had ownership of a previous caravan for over 12 years with no such faults and seeing the number of cases it would appear that there is fundamental flaw in the suitability of their caravans for touring My advice to anyone considering a purchase of any Erwin Hymer group caravan would be to ask to see all details of the warranty before purchasing the caravan they advertise a full worry free 10 year water ingress warranty and to accept that there is a reasonably high likelihood that they will be faced with a several thousand pound repair bill within the first few years of owning their new caravan with no guarantee that exactly the same fault could re-occur

Avoid Elddis End of
We have an Elddis 115 motorhome which is less than three years old At the beginning of February this year my wife and I were sitting on one of the bench seats when it collapsed beneath us The support for the seat had never looked straight and it had been reported when the annual check was carried out but we were assured it was okay As the interior is covered by a three year warranty the collapsed seat was reported to the dealer who sold us the motorhome who submitted a claim to Elddis or Erwin Hymer Group To our disbelief the claim was refused as they claimed that the seat had been misused Simply sitting on a seat is misusing it I wrote to Elddis to question their reasoning and also to point out several problems that we had encountered since the vehicle was new due to poor build quality They eventually agreed to authorise the repair as a gesture of goodwill which is in itself complete nonsense as the repair should have been covered by the three year warranty no question Despite having the repair authorised however we are still waiting and have now been given a provisional date of 7th July By that time our motorhome will have effectively been off the road for five months My advice Avoid Elddis at all costs UPDATE SEPTEMBER 2024 The seat problem was eventually repaired However when the next habitation service was carried out an even more serious problem was discovered Severe dampness was discovered behind the rear panel of the motorhome and beneath the rear wheel arches Motorhome was only just over three years old at the time Elddis eventually agreed to rectify the dampness under the warranty and a date of 3rd September 2024 was agreed to have the motorhome was taken to the dealership to have the work carried out That s almost four weeks ago We were initially told that the work would take three weeks but they found that the dampness was far worse than anticipated and it looks like we won t get our motorhome back for another two weeks and even that isn t guaranteed And all the time the summer and autumn are ebbing away and by the time we eventually get it back it ll be too cold for going anywhere It s particularly galling because my wife has severe mobility issues and our motorhome is really the only way she can go on holiday or for days out That s why we bought it in the first place Like I previously said don t buy an Elddis motorhome

3 year old Hymer unroadworthy
A 3 year old motorhome costing over 100 000 new failed its first MOT due to wiring looms needing replacing which took 3 weeks to arrive in the UK Erwin Hymer completely relaxed about the matter not a problem for them

Don t buy anything from these
Don t buy anything from these They do anything to get out of honouring 10 year warranty My caravan has gone damp because when they built it in the factory they failed to seal screw fridge vents Water has now got in thanks to them and they won t put it right It says it all they can t even answer anybody reviews

Absolute nuggets
Absolute nuggets So I got my habitation certification done by a mega knowledgable engineering company Firstly i asked him how high up the list in his view were the Erwin Hymer Elddis brand His reply was not high He picked up that from build the gas regulator has been incorrectly fitted This defect could cause liquid LPG into your system Also in the Toilet and shower there are areas where no sealant has been fitted from build On top of this they inform me my warranty is void because they do not have any evidence of previous Hab certs even though I have a copy for every year Absolute chancers think twice before you buy Erwin Hymer products

Please check if you have this fitted
We have an Elddis 115 prestige motorhome 2017 which we bought last year our third bus which after doing some upgrades and repairs refixing things etc is really good It belonged to an elderly couple originally from new and was parked up throughout covid low miles and immaculate condition Now the ticking time bomb moment came to light as the factory fitted cycle rack by Elddis never used by the original owners became detached with our cycles on it whilst driving slowly around a roundabout in Valencia Spain Rated to 60kg it had 34 kg on it so well under spec very fortunately we were not on the motorway and no-one was injured only us shocked and disorientated about what had happened Spanish locals were brilliant and helped us retrieve the still fully intact rack off the island roundabout and into a supermarket where we did our best to sort out what to do We were in total shock to find the top and bottom brackets were fitted only using 16mm self tapping screws and a bit of sealant - bodge job doesn t even come close to describing it As I say ticking time bomb that could have been fatal We managed to limp into Zaragoza and sourced from a Fiamma dealer in Lloret a bracket fixing kit for this model supplied with bolts etc Luckily I had a drill and tools straightened our bent rack as best I could and fitted it back on to get home After contacting the dealer we discovered Elddis had fitted the bike rack Well they promised us the earth to compensate and repair our damaged rear panel etc and even fit a towbar cycle rack because we ve lost faith in rear mounted The vehicle was inspected by one of their approved repairers he was stunned and did a daming report back in April Guess what they have done nothing but fob us off with parts not ready excuses and still not repaired our motorhome or compensated us We are now taking legal action and getting the repairs done ourselves as we cannot wait any longer or listen to their false promises Our solicitor is disgusted with Erwin Hymer and I m sure we ll get recompensated accordingly My main concern is if anyone has this same model or cycle rack please get it checked ASAP We have been lucky I m sure the Spanish police would have held us responsible if a fatality had happened As for Erwin Hymer customer service absolutely disgusting and disappointing in our opinion I ve reported this to the DVSA to investigate and I now hope the people responsible get what they deserve

We have an appallingly-made Elddis
We have an appallingly-made Elddis caravan and are not prepared to just put up with it so are in process of seeking legal redress Our caravan s frame was made too big and as the front rear panels were forced on to this badly-shaped frame during manufacture the panels cracked under these excess stresses 10 cracks in all cost to replace 9000 We have an independent expert report to prove this manufacturing fault Despite this Elddis dealer have done everything possible to get out of their legal responsibilities Instead they blame the customer and or roads when they know this is not the real truth in our case In my opinion they also misrepresent their 10 yr warranty in terms of water ingress - we were duped and many others I gather too In general the panels are only warrantied for 1 year - so obviously Elddis has NO confidence in a major caravan part - that s appallingly bad Erwin Hymer UK seem to be the worst of all the UK caravan manufacturers are not interested in customer satisfaction Avoid at all costs if I were you

Caravan with extremely poor build
Caravan with extremely poor build quality and not fit for purpose The company will not even inspect it for what I consider a potentially dangerous faultErwin Hymer Group UK LtdExplorer House Delves Lane Consett DH8 7PE12 September 2023Letter before court claimTo whom it may concern Re Faulty Elddis 636 Supreme - Serial number SGET000EXHAVA5424I have not had the inspection of the caravan promised by your technical I own after formally complaining Having experienced a structural issue caused by what I have been informed by an engineer is a common fault in poor manufacturing process when the caravan was built I was asked by your team to take the caravan to a centre of your choice I was informed you would look at the caravan to have it inspected by your team I have now received confirmation that you have failed to inspect the caravan and have referred to the warranty claim not being valid rather than completing the process you said you would Instead of inspecting the issue as promised for manufacturing fault you refer to the warranty and state you now not inspect it I am now asking you to complete the inspection for a structural issue caused by a poor manufacturing process regarding the faulty caravan built at your factory I am concerned that such a fault is a danger to me and my family as the front end is floating I bought this in October 2019 and it has been in indoor storage and unused until Oct 2019 As the caravan was built poorly at your factory and has never been fit for purpose due to inherent issues at construction I believe this must be fixed by you I have had an independent assessment and been informed the repair required due to poor manufacturing standards if 3400 I am once again requesting a full repair on the grounds that the goods were not fit for purpose under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 I would like a reply as soon as possible so that I know you have received this letter If you don t agree to the repair could you please then send me a detailed response saying why you don t agree To avoid taking court action I am willing to use Alternative Dispute Resolution to resolve this problem If I do not receive a satisfactory response from you within 14 days of the date of this letter I intend to issue proceedings against you in the county court without further notice This may increase your liability for costs I refer you to the Practice Direction on pre-action conduct under the Civil Procedure Rules and in particular to paragraph 13-16 which sets out the sanctions the court may impose if you fail to comply with the Practice Direction I look forward to your acknowledgment Yours faithfully Alan Little

When is a tourer not a tourer
I have a 2022MY Buccaneer Barracuda caravan finally delivered in July 2022 This was a retirement treat designed to give us years of touring experiences It is the worst quality caravan I have had the misfortune to ownIt was delivered 6 months later than quoted upon order and the faults started on day one The shower cubicle trim was damaged not picked up at pdi or in the factory I pointed out on collection The E P system failed when I got home because Erwin Hymer had fitted the incorrect fuse rating and it blew on first use No help from the dealer or Erwin Hymer but E P technical support were fantastic and helped me diagnose the problem I fixed it with a quick trip to Halfords There have been 12 different trim faults in the first year Ranging from broken blinds and trim to wrong size screws having been used in construction and peeling trim Just shonky build standards and poor quality 2 more serious faults are the battery has failed and is waiting for replacement But most seriously the ATC braking system failed 4 times Twice leaving me stranded and calling the AA to rescue me The caravan is currently stranded in the dealership with 5 warranty faults including the ATC making it undriveable When is a tourer not a tourer Answer when you need to have the AA on speed dial to use it I ve written to Erwin Hymer saying that I don t want it back until it s fixed properly If they can t do that then I want a full refund as the caravan is not fit for purpose This was the first Erwin Hymer group product I ve bought after decades of owning Swifts wish now I d stayed with Swift I ve finally sold it back to the dealer took a 20k depreciation hit Don t trust Erwin Hymer group to do anything after the shocking quality and diabolical service over this van Promises mean nothing Particularly if they re prepared to let this standard of product out of their factory Latest issue was damp getting in through badly fitted roof seam trims on an 18 month old van Should be ashamed I would give zero stars if that was an option Update June 24

Poor built vehicle and poor aftersales that just fob you ofg
The after service is appalling they are happy selling these campervan CV80 but when things go wrong from day one Sept 2023 and I am still waiting as vehicle is NOT fit for purpose as the pop up is out of action also aist of other problems and they just pass the buck and will not take any responsibility just fob you off to the retailer when they just sell them not BUILD these poor built motorhomes I advise look else s were and don t buy elddis
