Warning Avoid Avoid Avoid
Preyed upon by a shark of salesperson not a qualified Financial Advisor that he claimed to be whilst working abroad in 2012 The salesperson had one target in mind which was to mis-sell Friends Provident s Capital Wealth Redemption policy in order to receive a kick-back bonus The salesperson exploited my naivety as a novice expat promising a high performing investment that has proved to be anything but This mis selling model via a network of 3rd parties is the model that Friends Provident International rely on for their business Hence this frank well overdue review Whilst FP the broker have done well to exploit the situation I am left with a dead-end fund paying high running fees that I am locked in to for a quarter of century No light at the end of the tunnel until 2037 Being gullible enough to believe the salesperson being mis sold this product from FP has proved to be the biggest financial mistake of my entire life

As others have stated DROP THIS ZERO
As others have stated since its impossible to give this company a zero rating I will add the one star This is a complete scam They are unresponsive the original sales people do not explain the product correctly you have no support from the company whatsoever and there is no tax savings for expats as they claim This is a full scam and your portfolio will only go down in value due to the excessively high fees even when the market is doing well Do not even consider this vendor

Worst company I ve ever dealt with
I foolishly started a pension fund with this company in 1995 in one of its many former guises In 26 years my savings have barely grown In addition they are awful to deal with - ignoring emails to their alleged customer services department A few years ago I withdrew some funds - they made me send my sample signature several times - didn t send the funds until threatened by my financial advisor I ll be withdrawing all savings at the earliest opportunity

No idea what s happened to FPI customer
No idea what s happened to FPI customer service over the last couple of years but it s beyond appalling and I can t believe that management of a company of this size isn t dealing with this Withdrawals are impossible Keep changing goalposts staff are rude and obstructive Takes weeks and weeks to access cash THIS IS NOT A ONE OFF I ve amended my withdrawal dates to accommodate their new rules holding on to cash extra 10 days and still not received my money I ll be looking to recoup late payment charges and interest payments from my bills I can t pay My FA and I are making arrangements to move my not inconsiderable investment Just look at the other reviews FPI please sort yourselves out

Wouldn t use them again
Wouldn t use them again Almost zero customer interaction I have been investing a fixed amount over a long period of time and since my initial investment there has been no advice or input into my portfolio what changes I should make etc To be fair I think more of the issue is with the intermediary I used St James Place who are truly terrible but neither would I recommend FP

Serious concerns
Serious concerns If considering do ask advisor or work out annual fees for yourself and decide if it s worth it It may be worth it if values are expected to climb exceptionally quickly in the first 5 years But the way fees are not made upfront and super clear is concerning to me Customer service is faster now with the online portal

Don t invest in the Premier Wealth Saver plan
Don t invest in the Premier Saver plan Absolute nonsense The fees account for minimum 4-5 of your total unit value So you need you collective mirror fund choices to grow by at least 4-5 just to break even and that s before you factor in inflation I finally bit the bullet and surrendered my plan handing them a huge surrender penalty on top of what they ve already earned off me Despite this I can still invest what s left and make it back over the next 15 years by merely investing in a basic S P ETF tracker I have learned the hard way to better read the fees structures on these products
