What to do when your Freesat PVR drive crashes after only 4 years - Call Freesat Spares
My Arris Freesat PVR started playing up a few months ago after about 4 years The drive finally failed to respond to the reboots and left me with solution options which all failed I rang the Freesat Help line and spoke to a helpful guy who suggested I buy a replacement drive through Freesat Spares It took time for them to come back to me so I range Freesat s helpline again to check I had the right details The 2nd Freesat rep I spoke to was clearly furious I had heard about Freesat Spares from his colleague and started asking for my details But why should I spend 239 without delivery for a new box after only 4 years when a new drive would cost me only 43 So I hung up on him I finally get through to a very helpful and knowledgeable guy at Freesat Spares It s a small private company which is not affiliated with Freesat Their explanation was excellent Firstly he explained that if I removed the drive while the new one was in the post I could at least watch the TV but with no recorder functions of course Arris s box blocks the TV while a crashed drive is still installed A few days later my new 43 drive arrived and I fitted it in 15 minutes There is an easy-to-follow U-Tube video and the 2 tools are included with your pack Really simple Very nice people to deal with Saved me about 200 And with luck as the Seagate drive is better quality it should last longer than 4 years now Clearly Freesat don t want you to know their rubbish Toshiba disk drives will fail after 4 years and they want you to replace you Arris box because that makes them money selling expensive boxes Freesat Spares were brilliant
