Type 1 diabetes for over 50 years

I have had type 1 diabetes for over 50 years and have been using Freestyle Libre for six months I have always had low HbA1c and this hasn t changed but the sensor has given me a better understanding of my blood glucose profiles I am now able to treat hypos before they become serious and prevent nocturnal hypos This is such an advance in monitoring diabetes control Much more convenient than finger pricking although I still use this to confirm my blood glucose when I obtain high or low results

life changing

Amazing product could not go back to pricking after this very good at sending out replacements if there is an issue and good customer support when ringing up Have been using this for more than two years now and will not be giving it up anytime soon

I can t believe what a difference this

I can t believe what a difference this has made to my life I was testing my blood before up to 10 times a day and my fingers were becoming sore Now I might test my blood once a day and can scan as often as I want Yes the reading is different to my meter but who says that is accurate Both have to operate within a given range of deviance and given the choice I d rather scan than draw blood from my fingers any day I ve had one faulty sensor that constantly read low but after contacting Abbott customer service it was replaced for free within 2 days I ve read a lot of negative reviews on here and can only say that my own experience has been good I love the Freeestyle Libre system

Great

There are a few elements to this review firstly the sensor itself Very easy to apply and stays on for the full 2 weeks no pain or irritation and very easy to use I ve been checking my sugar and average of 15 times per day and I compared to a few times a week with the finger test The android app LibreLink is great very convenient-I haven t even used the reader that comes with the kit There are some improvements to be made around data syncing reporting and sharing but I ve fed these back separately The orders do take a few days to dispatch so that could be improved Lastly the customer service I had an issue with the first 2 sensors I bought but these were replaced without issue The price is quite restrictive but for now I have no choice

So pleased

I first started using the freestyle libre in November 2020 so have been using for 8 months now I love it I know have so much info and have been able to make good confident changes to my insulin ratios I have had my resent HB1AC and I m down to 56 and my last one a year ago was 71 This is a huge change and something I really put down to having access to these sensors I have had a few sensors that have had errors but have found customer service very helpful and they have quickly sent out a replacement sensor to me The sensors themselves sometimes find themselves knocked especially when I first started using them so I purchased some straps and also some adhesive stickers to go over them which have helped although I don t always need them I think if you manage to get them in the right place I your arm then they do stay I m very active doing gym classes everyday and had no problem The app is also really easy to use and the alarms are fantastic

VERY SURPRISED BY ALL THE BAD REVIEWS

VERY SURPRISED BY ALL THE BAD REVIEWS people who like the system should also take the time to post a review Unfortunately on the internet people always post when unsatisfied usually not when they are I have been ignoring my Diabetes had been going thru Diabetes Burnout When I did get my blood tested my A1C was extremely high My doctor wrote a prescription I got the FreeStyle System my pharmacy no problem Grateful I don t have to finger stick my fingers turn them into Swiss cheese I need to check several times a day in order to know what is going on The information the reader gives me is huge When I first got the system I read all the information provided my pharmacy did not carry the test strips I googled them found a supplier bought them online with no issues I LOVE THE FREESTYLE FREEDOM FROM NUMEROUS FINGER STICKS and when I use their test strips they coincide

Happy with the system happy with the company

I invested in a new kit reader 2 patches The first patch was faulty the second one was fine I called Freestyle and informed them that the first patch failed to work The chap I spoke to was really understanding and immediately organised a replacement That was yesterday and I have just got an email to say the replacement has been sent out to me Great service These things are a real life saver as I suffer from hypo phobia meaning that I am permanently scared of having a hypo while driving and even walking The patches have given me so much more freedom Okay the results may not always be spot on but then again neither are the meters It s slightly disappointing that we are currently limited to only purchasing 2 patches every 25 days but I guess the demand is extremely high I am really hoping these are going to be available on prescription because there really is no excuse for them not to be as finger testing strips must cost the NHS the same amount or a similar amount of money All in all I have had a great experience with Freestyle They have obviously upped their game since the negative reviews were left

Superb - v2 is brilliant

I ve used Freestyle Libre sensors and app for several years and as a T1 it transformed my diabetes management I didn t have problems with sensors falling off I knocked off a couple and the readings were also accurate Just asked my GP surgery to upgrade to Libre 2 which is fantastic he new alarm function warns me if my sugar is going down or up at a fast rate or hits my low high targets It went off 20 minutes ago to warn level of 6 4 was going down fast so I could correct and it went off again at 4 6 set by me but showed upward direction I cannot fault it and don t understand why it has such a high of terrible reviews on here It s almost as if a competitor has splattered this site with bad reviews but that s me being cynical Also just so people know the Freestyle Libre 2 is on the NHS tariff so you can just ask the surgery to amend the prescription to the new one It is the same price as the previous version as well - I bought two ahead of my next NHS prescription which cost around 48 each The best bit I used to go very low when sleeping 2 9 sometimes 3 2 - 3 4 usually and it s good to know that I can now just sleep knowing it will wake me if it goes below 4 6 so I can correct I ve not actually had lows as low as that since using it but based on the alarm always working so far when trending up or dropping as just this morning I trust it Totally recommend it truly is brilliant If it wasn t or the previous one wasn t I would say so as my review history here and on other sites clearly illustrates But in this case so far cannot fault it in any way

High failure rate and inaccurate

The very high failure rate of the sensors is very concerning I asked what the failure rate was but Abbott will not respond Also I had several alarms showing dangerous low levels but checking showed normal glucose On holiday in Spain 2 sensors failed I asked that replacements be sent from Abbott in Spain urgently but Abbott refused without explanation

Not fit for purpose

This product is not fit for purpose I have been supplied with this product by the NHS as I am a T1 diabetic In my opinion the NHS has been sold a dud I am experiencing a variety of issues which have been increasing in regularity over the past few months 1 Signal loss alarm triggering when I have the phone next to me 2 Signal loss alarm triggering but the meter is showing a current reading 3 Meter shows a reading but then a couple of minutes later it shows a completely different number - this always happens when I wake up 4 Signal loss followed by scan error which refuses repeatedly to scan - this is the latest and most troubling issue To note I am using the current app version A useless product which the NHS should discontinue with
