A very poor business operation
The final product was ok A few mistakes and challenges that we can overcome by doing some work ourselves now but not worth the money and very frustrating to pay a premium and still be having to do work ourselves and investing more to fix mistakes Working with this business and communicating with the business was an awful experience The head office is so disorganised and care very little for a good customer experience Communication- they were bad at organising site visits- their communication throughout was always unorganised on timings and dates- sending wrong invoices - multiple team members ringing and agreeing different cost structures- chasing money and aggressively hassling us for incorrect invoices This I personally found awful when we hadn t even agreed a final fee to be bullying my family about not paying Technical- they didn t send us an electrical plan only when we prompted them did we receive be careful - they didn t tell us when the electrician and airconcompany were coming- there were no comms once it was finished matting left down in the house so assumed there was more work to be done - there was very poor estimates for timing delivered- the sockets are high on the wall to allow for mirrors to be added as discussed

Very poor company
Very poor company No quality control no customer satisfaction policy impossible to get hold off agree to do repairs but won t fix a date Our render failed our bifold door won t open Like other reviewers they aggressively hassled us for final payment then washed their hands of us The render has finally been sorted was incorrectly applied and had to be replaced but in doing that job they broke the outside lights which they won t fix and the bifold door will still not open The building was installed in 2017 and has been a disaster from day one internal cracks poor finish bifold door has not opened properly ever Buyer beware no customer focus no quality control impossible to engage once paid guarantee worthless

Appalling company
Appalling company Built a defective garden room with no damp proofing that is now having to be re-built by another company Contacted them in August 2021 about problems and am still waiting for a response The worst company I have ever dealt with Please do not use Buildings are sub-standard and customer service non-existent

Unscrupulous unethical company
I contacted Garden spaces to design and build a bespoke garden studio Pre-sales and initial experience was fine but upon completion of the build I had to call them back to adjust the door as it didn t close correctly why did they do thorough checks before leaving Unfortunately after several years we ve now noticed the studio appears to be sinking in one corner and also the movement has now prevented the doors from closing correctly meaning the 20k studio is barely usable Despite numerous attempts to contact them they refuse to investigate the matter and no longer respond to our calls emails The one email we did receive was simply to point out their terms of conditions Pay close attention to the small print - the uPVC doors windows warranty is only 1 year You need to upgrade to aluminium to get any sort of useful warranty - they have a generic disclaimer that any movement subsidence is not their problem even if the the ground screws they ve specified fitted aren t adequate or correctly sized for the weight of the studio and they take no account of ground conditions eg clay soil vs loam soil Please be wary of this company - do your research It seems other people have had similar issues to myself but on a much larger scale eg google annexespaces dispute I intend on taking legal action as Consumer Law takes precedence over unfair contracts Will try to update the review in the future with my progress

I have just read a response from Roger Hedges following my negative review WOW what a response apparently I reneged on my agreement to take down my negative review I have no recollection of such an agreement So much for wanting feedback so much for customer care I find the ethics of this company to be questionable Rather than reply to me with contrition following their failure to act fairly they decide to attack me and make me the bad guy Buyer beware JohnHi Roger that is a very rapid response from you far quicker in fact normally you are impossible to get hold of than prior experiences over the 5 years of communicating to you about the failures in design and build of our garden room I wholeheartedly refute your belief I promised to take down my review if you fixed our building Why would I do that in fact your efforts to eventually fix your prior mistakes were so poor maybeI should have posted additional reviews You think your company is great I think it s terrible blaming a pandemic and Brexit is hardly valid seeing as the problems with our building started well before both events and continued after them My experience with Gatden Spaces has been very poor your strategy organisation communication quality control all areas worthy of improvement Yes eventually after 5 years and me battling with your denial that our building was failing you did send a team who had to be replaced by another team who knew what they were doing yes we can open the bifold door now but it is not seamless by any measure and yes you have now recovered the render and fixed the roof design issue But the effort I extended to persuade you to do this was totally unreasonable You firmly denied we had problems even once suggested I had misused the building I suggest though we leave this here now as you will not be able to change my mind I hope you manage to learn from this experience and go on to great success I chose Garden Spaces carefully because I thought you were a good company I was severely disappointed with my experience with you and remain so Regards John

At the responders on this website I am very interested in hearing your more of your reviews and experiences We recently had our building completed by Garden Spaces and I am now organising a Structural Assessor to complete an expert opinion to rely on during litigation I noted that our foundations are not right and nor is our roof covering very pleasing confirmed by the manufacturer Additionally I note the terms may be drafted in violation of the UK Consumer Act 2015 It appears we have similar complaints as well as identical responses to these complaints Please do reach out to me I note their chosen website of reviews io Search for 1 or 3 star reviews lets them hide negative reviews Thank- you Roger for you comment Indeed we will be in touch as the standards on the roof and foundations are poor as now confirmed by the surveyor s report We fortunately relied on an expert report immediately and did not rely on GS s positive responses We look forward to further discussions and obtaining suitable compensation UPDATE July 2023- the roof has failed and is leaking in parts The summary from roofing experts is that the roof was installed in an unprofessional manner

Their response says it all really Note that none of the facts are disputed including that they breached building regulations But they still think they did nothing wrong The Judge did not agree
These people are awful They built a home for my Mum - 94 at the time - close by to our house She is independent but can be looked after The roof leaked The hot water wasn t They fixed those They didn t seal the holes to let services in Building regulations require that basic precaution Mice came in They made a half hearted attempt to block the holes - impossible to retrofit Then they said we lived in the country and hadn t told them we had a rodent problem and that the manager said he had mice in his house and we d just have to poison them Then we worked out we d have to put a curtain mesh around the foundation to stop the mice getting in By now we have rats coming in They say they ll do that for 3k We sort it for 2k We sue them to get the money back They defend the claim and say we have undermined the foundations doing what they were going to charge us to do to fix their mistake They don t turn up at the Court hearing We win On the very last day - 18 April 2023 - they pay the judgment They haven t the grace even to apologise Dreadful people Avoid like the plague

One simple snagging problem - no action by Garden Spaces in 2 years
GS finished installing our Garden Annexe in June 2021 The quoting design development and the build all went well We are happy with our Annexe with the exception of one simple element - the external render K Rend showed early signs of deterioration and we alerted GS to that within 30 days of completion as per the Contract Our experience is that once the final invoice is paid they don t want to know 2 years on we have no resolution at all and the render has continued to show more deterioration after two winters GS were all but silent for the first year on the matter They promised to resolve in spring summer 2022 - but they always came up with an excuse for not being able to action until it became too cold and wet for render work They promised to action in 2023 - guess what same story - promises to action in June and July came to nothing and at the moment nothing is scheduled - just another commitment to address We told them that we had given them every opportunity to address the issue over the previous 2 years and that our patience was now exhausted with continually broken assurances and we told them that after the end of June this year we would start a process via Citizens Advice Trading Standards and Small Claims Court to get some satisfaction - we have now started this process That triggered an immediate response from Karl Plummer committing to address and July 19th was put in the diary to remediate Nothing meaningful happened other than a passing visit at 7 pm by one of their team to take some photos We have sent pictures and videos of the problem to GS over the last 15 months They have bounced between committing to remediate and then referring to cracking being being within the building guidelines Our evidence shows areas where the render has lifted away from the sub wall gaps of up to 5 mm as well as cracking along all joints in the outside wall panels This build cost nearly 100 k and GS have yet to remediate a simple problem and act ethically We will now contact local Renderers with K Rend experience and move towards organising the repair In parallel we will pursue a claim to get our repair costs covered We are confident that we can demonstrate to any independent review that we have a clear building defect that the supplier should remedy We write this review to alert potential clients to the very poor post sales experience we have had

Awful experience - avoid
If you re thinking of using Garden Spaces I strongly suggest you do not While the installation team were excellent our experience of the company generally has been awful After our unit had been built we were asked to pay for things we didn t want hadn t ordered and were not supplied with The company charged us for site clearance after we had cleared the site ourselves They wanted to charge us 300 for access through our house when access to the build site was available through an empty partially demolished garage beside the house Delivery of some items required for the build was not satisfactory For example the soundproofed door which was extremely heavy arrived on a van with a driver only This was a three-man job Consequently I and one of the builders who happened to be on site that day were forced to assist with the delivery That was another oversight on behalf of Garden Spaces Unfortunately a leak recently appeared in the roof of our garden office only six years after construction and well within the terms of the warranties and guarantees we hold We ve been told that this leak falls outside of our standard warranty terms of 24 months on this element of your build I can t see on any paperwork from Garden Spaces or in any email any reference to such a warranty I found a page on the Spaces Group website listing the company s terms and conditions but again there was nothing about standard warranty terms of 24 months only 10 years which we are well within Garden Spaces want to charge a cost covering fee of 895 00 inc VAT to effect this repair payable in advance I believe they should fix this issue at no cost to us I had to put this dispute on hold late last year because my mother was dying of cancer which I told Roger Hedges at Garden Spaces I received no reply In my view Garden Spaces do not fulfil their promise of delivering excellent customer service and attention to detail

First-class service From the moment we went through the briefing process right through to the final sign-off Everyone who worked on our project with us was stellar and put up with me being a very stressful and sometimes unpleasant client with aplomb sorry again In particular I want to give a huge shout-out to Robert Nita from sales and Ricky his team on the build who were all outstanding and deserve every praise imaginable for their work and a pay rise if its going Well done everyone you should be so proud One VERY happy client here
