Cash Cows in a Gledhill Trap
We live in a McCarthy Stone retirement complex where they have installed the Pulsacoil hot water system It was brand new when we moved in but failed after several repairs after eight years Because we had breakdown cover the cost of the new unit was reduced from 2100 to 1500 Still ouch We were assured that the new units were a much improved product and so we saw no need to take out breakdown cover Then two years after the new installation we had no hot water The engineer expressed surprise that we had this problem with a new unit but then said that he had heard there was a batch of faulty thermostats and he assumed ours were from that batch since both failed at the same time He said this was unusual He also said he would report accordingly to Gledhill When we queried this we were told that the engineer had said nothing in his report and any further attempts to pursue the matter via telephone and messages left on the website have been ignored So either the engineer failed to report what he told us or the company has ignored his report just as it is ignoring us Either way we had to pay 324 to have this put right even though it would appear that the replaced thermostats were faulty to begin with Why are we penalised for their faulty equipment We are captive customers aka cash cows Everyone in our complex is in the same boat and most have similar sorry tales And as there is no viable alternative for us we just have to suck it up with expensive breakdown cover and or expensive repair bills expensive presumably because they know the high failure rate of their product We have approached McCarthy Stone to use its considerable leverage to support their homeowners in disputes with this company but they don t want to know No one wants to know The system has been foisted on us but anyone who is considering installing the Gledhill Pulsacoil should think about it not twice but many times over before becoming another captive cash cow erm customer

Abysmal Company
My 90 yr old mother moved into a McCarthy Stone Retirement Home in July and we continued with the supposed Platinum Boiler Cover that costs around 260 per year Its become apparent that it s utterly pointless The first time she tried to use her heating it didn t work Because of her cover otherwise a call out charge is an eye-watering 324 an engineer came out and instantly said she needed a new boiler because of an abundance of corrosion This is an engineer on Gledhill s payroll I queried how this corrosion wouldn t have been spotted at the previous inspection carried out this year and was told that corrosion can happen overnight Yeah right I spoke to someone called Dan in the laughably named Response Team and he told me the complaints person had just gone home it was 3 45pm but if I were to complain he would tell him about it and I would receive an immediate response In the meantime they would rush out a quote for a new boiler Oh clearly the complaints person is also on the Gledhill payroll Nothing has happened despite chasing up my email twice I called Dan today and was told he would call me immediately Not happened Since then Ive uncovered the full extent of what an appalling company this is They are widely known for condemning boilers or as in my mother s case draining them and claiming a new one is needed Engineers wont work on them parts are incredibly difficult to source They also have an agreement with McCarthy Stone to supply older inferior models at discounted rates Oh and charmingly the engineers left my mother with no heating as well because he NEEDLESSLY turned off the heating supply within the fuse box Im going to stop now as I think this is enough to be getting on with and frankly they dont deserve any more of my time But preying on the elderly is beyond contempt

They don t pay their bills
I ve been chasing a refund for weeks now and keep getting fobbed off They re quick enough to take your money but a simple refund no they re either broke or incompetent

In continuation of my previous
In continuation of my previous complain I say and confirm further again STAY AWAY from these cowboys They changed the installation date to today again after collecting over 5000 and we have been on this for nearly 6months where we do not have heating or hot water for 6months They rearranged ulthe installation today the 7th of March Engineer turned up and new tank never arrived with Engineer I phoned into their office and they said sorry manufacturer redirected the tank delivery for night delivery instead of morning delivery so therefore the next day we are gonna do the installation now is in another 1 week time These are people I explained we have 5 children under the age of 8years old that can t bath in the morning as hit water is not running all already developed different cold related health problems and further we have my 85 years old mother in the house but that doesn t seem to play any factor in the way they prioritise and get resolution Surely it takes 6 months to get a tank replaced Ridiculous organisation with no clue what they are doing We have intended to pursue legal actions against them and surely they will be hearing our legal representatives shortly My simple advice stay as far away as you can from these so called company RUBBISH ALL ROUND

I would avoid using this company
I recently moved into a retirement apartment and have not been happy with the hot water system and was advised by the other residents to contact this company I rang and explained my problem to the woman at gledhill who asked a few questions and I said it took quite a time for the hot water to come through and that the flow rate was poor in both the hot and cold water supply The only option was to have a repair contract at 325 which I agreed to The engineer was late turning up for a morning appointment 8 to 1pm and looked at the system and said that it was ok and the problem was the flow rate During this time I received no written confirmation of the price and date until the day before the visit was due when they advised me the engineer would come between 8 and 1 pm He eventually arrived at 1 10 pm I was not advised that he had been delayed Poor service in my opinion and very expensive

Terrible in every way
Please avoid at all costs Terrible service - boiler has broken down three times in the past five years Process to get an appointment is ludicrous - you have to book a date then they tell you the night before whether they will come in the morning or afternoon So you basically have to book an entire day off work I m self employed and can t work from home but I did that and they cancelled in the afternoon so I lost a days wages for nothing Despite messing me around I had to go through the whole process again no guarantee that they would even turn up Currently three weeks without hot water Joke of a company Still waiting to see if they turn up tomorrow AVOID

Blatantly Dishonest
Our boiler started causing problems so we go an engineer out to fix it It transpired that the issue was with the Gledhill closed-system tank Contacted Gledhill and paid a large lump sum for it to come and fix the problem Their engineers kept claiming that they attended the property but there was no answer but in reality either they didn t show up or they couldn t find the place Eventually we had to guide one to find the place He confirmed that the expansion vessel needs to be replaced His report and attendance record disappeared from the company s system so they claim They sent another person This time this engineer who didn t have a clue why he was sent there spent a few minutes and left Later we were sent a false but long report purportedly written by the operative who claimed that the system has been wrongly installed The standard lie about D1 and D2 and that we should get a G3 engineer to fix the problem Basically Geldhill is refusing to do the work Please be mindful of positive reviews here

Here we go again what is going on in that call centre
6 months ago i had a nightmare getting my new taps i was given lots of misinformation fobbed off promised call backs that didn t happen and eventually after making a massive complaint i got my taps installed However it turns out that the engineer didn t install them properly so I have a leak So they ve ordered me new taps and where are they 4 weeks later and they are still not here I am now giong the same process of being given misinformation by the girls on the phone appointments not recorded or moved and now promised a call back yesterday that didn t happen What is going on up there for gods sake I just want a date of when my taps will arrive an engineer to fit them and all within the next few days is that too much to ask

Two wasted visits by their heating engineers
Two visits by their heating engineers to check why four of our radiators were not getting hot First engineer ended up calling back to the office and said that they would arrange for a water test to be carried out Second engineer comes and knows nothing about this After making various checks he believes the problem is with a pressure relief valve He is not able to work on this as they only cover problems with the heatstore itself I get a local heating engineer who says that he doesn t think it could be the pressure relief valve as that would affect all the radiators He says it is likely to be a build up of debris in the system Still waiting for him to find a slot to do this for us No reply to my email for their explanation on their engineers findings

only giving this a 1 star because there is no other option to go lower Absolutely appalling customer service been three weeks I am trying to get a boiler engineer out to sort out a fault with the boiler All i get told is you will get a message and a call from the sub contractors they use my electrical bill has hit the roof just trying to heat the property in this month of December DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
