I would like to give a zero star but
They were contacted to change a 20- year old Will to add a new grandchild but managed to put themselves as executors in the draft Will and luckily our late Mum changed her mind about this after translating the draft Will they sent out to her in Punjabi She told numerous relatives she didn t like her draft Will and the way they had written it she didn t like the fact that they were writing about trust funds being set up that they would manage for grandchildren under 18- years old for the next decade and our late mother said this was never explored with her in any meeting she attended and she didn t want them to do this and it was not an instruction she asked for - Hawley Rodgers had taken it upon themselves to create this extra work that was not asked for so we ring to tell them our late mum didn t want them to manage her money and to change the draft Will accordingly We told them she took didn t like the draft Will They accept having received a telephone call and being told about the trust fund and savings However they said this doesn t mean they could not still be executors I don t know how you can be executors when the person doesn t want you dealing with their money They then told us we could not attend any future appointments despite our late mother not knowing English being aged 80 and frail vulnerable pensioner they made sure she was unsupported as she had no one with her to help her understand complex discussions so they had power over her in these meetings as it was to their advantage to get her to sign things that she could not read we thought her Will would mirror previous Will albeit adding an extra grandchild in it They didn t send her her Will out despite her asking for a copy so the opportunity for her to get the final version checked in Punjabi as she didn t read English was lost and denied to her Unfortunately she went into hospital a week after seeing them so we were busy caring for her around the clock so her Will was not a concern to us as she had always told us what was in it and we thought we were Joint family executors like we had been for the last 20- years when we contacted them for a copy of the stored Will after her death they declined to give it to us and it emerged they had not followed our late mother s instructions When I complained they said our mother wanted them as executors as me and my brother don t get along I don t know how they can be executors when the person told them not to manage their money following their behaviour with the draft Will creating additional work that was Never asked for They are liars have no ethical scruples in making money out of a person s death and We firmly belief they didn t amend her Will as per her wishes as if they had than there is no way they could be executors I have gone to legal ombudsman s They hold us over a barrel as we can t get Probate sorted as they won t give us a copy of the Will they have punished us for complaining as the ignored theComplaint for several weeks they know we can t follow our mother s dying wishes as she wanted for the grandchildren unless we agree to pay them 280 per a hour quoting 3500 for a simple uncontested small estate worth She loved her grandchildren and wanted to make sure the money went to them not to the Hawley Rodgers that s why she made us ring to change the draft Will It wasn t in their interest to change the draft Will As they would lose out on making money and I suspect that s why they didn t send her a copy of her Will as it would have been picked up that again they didn t follow her instructions PLEASE avoid at all costs And don t trust them They do things that you don t ask just so that they can create additional work for get extra money for themselves as I suspect they work on bonuses And please don t trust them to follow instructions as they don t Best advice I can give is Use another legal firm to stay safe and protect your relatives as well as yourself Stay away from this rogue firm as they will steal your inheritance to line their own pockets

A company to avoid at all costs
I would like to give a zero star but unable The solicitor that I contacted ignored my emails over 4 months when I just wanted clarification on 1 simple point he had previously given This law firm appears to have a culture that is unprofessional and utterly uncaring No support or response to anxious clients This was not the case 6 years ago but obviously the service has deteriorated There are many solicitors out there and I advise you to avoid this one I have spent upwards of 60 000 with Hawley and Rodgers

Never through choice
I have inherited some shares and was given the choice between cashing them in or moving them to a share account I discovered that I needed to complete forms to enable the transfer The solicitor claimed she could do the transfer using Interactive investor Unfortunately I left her to it The transfer was refused after several weeks I have now requested that the shares be sold and the money sent to me I await with hope Unfortunately the solicitor is a very poor communicator often not replying to calls After writing the above report I contacted the Nottingham branch The people there were extremely helpful and answered many of the questions I had had If I had contacted them earlier I would have had a more positive view of this company

If i could give no stars i would
This firm was involved in a legacy which benefitted my charity and others these emails will be enlightening 7 1 20 It is difficult to give a date but I would hope within the next 3-4 months we can start to bring matters to a conclusion 23 10 20 I am going to ask the Executor if they are agreeable to an interim distribution at this stage as I know this will be vital to some of the charity beneficiaries 27 11 20 I had intended to sort the interim distributions this week but unfortunately I haven t got around to it 11 1 21 I apologise for the delay but I am pleased to confirm that I have today arranged for the sum of 25 000 00 to be paid In any other profession the comment on 27 Nov 20 might be classed as incompetence but that couldn t be said of a solicitor could it For all this service the firm charged the estate a sum in excess of 41 000 You may draw your own conclusions

avoid this firm
Absolutely shocking I honestly do not know how Hawley Rodgers manage to stay in business My sale consisting of no chain took far longer than expected I appreciate that delays can happen but the lack of correspondence or agreed updates was well below satisfactory I believe that the delayed timescale was due to incompetence at Hawley Rodgers I was shown emails from the buyers solicitors proving that questions I was only just being asked after I made contact with with H R had been sent weeks earlier to Charley Luckily I was speaking directly with my buyer who was able to pass on important information to allow the sale to continue On top of the poor service throughout my invoice is more than my original quote I am now trying to dispute this and Louise or Charley refuse to take my phonecalls AVOID

IF ONLY THERE WAS A ZERO STAR OPTION
the work carried out by the long Eaton branch resulted in a vulnerable elderly man aged 93 changing his will weeks before he passed in favour of a carer and family member who attended all meetings and controlled the narrative a shocking lack of best practice and checking on circumstances all done in less than an hour that resulted in thousands of pounds of litigation and a serious complaint to put right avoid this firm at all costs

If there was a zero star option
IF ONLY THERE WAS A ZERO STAR OPTION This company currently represent my ex partner and have been absolutely shocking from start to finish Poor communication lying through their teeth shocking correspondence and uneducated solicitors They were court ordered to produce a rota with dates and times for my daughter s whom which should have been a priority within 7 days however nearly 2 weeks after have only just got back to me completely disregarding a court order I tried contacting this firm numerous times via telephone and e mail and just kept getting fobbed off with broken promises of they will call you back The moment I went back to the court to dismiss the case amazingly they respond I ve never know such a shocking poor excuse of a company and would avoid like the plague They have absolutely no idea what they are doing and shouldn t even still be open

Avoid Hawley and Rodgers
If there was a zero star option this firm would receive it Theire practice is below standard unethical and solely focused on creating profit rather than taking care and protecting the needs and rights of their customers Choose a different firm I hope the judicial auditors close them down

Complaint Ignored
I used the Hawley and Rodgers Long Eaton office for some conveyancing work in 2018 and they were excellent so when I wanted to buy an apartment in April this year I went to them again After I contacted them with the details of the purchase they asked for a deposit of 250 I sent them a cheque which was cashed in May I then assumed they would get on with the purchase legal work In July the Estate Agent contacted me to say that they had been trying to contact Hawley and Rodgers over the previous 2 months and not been getting anywhere I contacted the Long Eaton office and after several they are not in today they ll call you back type conversations I ascertained that my case had been transferred to the Loughborough office I finally managed to speak to the person handling my purchase in August From that conversation I am certain that that phone call was the first time she had looked at our file Since then we have been around several cycles of Estate Agent ringing me to ask if I can hurry my solicitor Me ringing the solicitor to push her into doing something A bit of paperwork being generated then nothing The sale ultimately failed because the mortgage offer was withdrawn over an EWS1 issue but the fact is that the EWS1 enquiry was put to the lender with only 2 weeks to go until the mortgage offer expired It was too late for the Estate Agents or the Management Company to provide any additional information which may have helped our case It is worth noting that several flats in the development had been bought with mortgages over the previous couple of years with no problems I am pretty sure that a very last minute EWS1 enquiry was just the excuse the lender needed to get out of a very good 5 year fixed rate deal in the current economic climate It is enormously frustrating to have lost the purchase and unfortunately Hawley and Rodgers will claim that it was not their fault that the sale fell through but I have absolutely no doubt that if the purchase process had started in May and taken a reasonable 2-3 months then we would own the flat now It was after all a straightforward no chain purchase of an apartment I suspect reading other reviews that the Hawley and Rodgers that existed prior to the pandemic is absolutely not the Hawley and Rodgers that exists today I hope that they can re-establish themselves as a quality legal firm but at the present time I would avoid them like the plague
