HomeEspana are just an amazing company They were the only estate agents who kept in touch before our visit to Spain Bex was so friendly helpful knowledgeable not just of the area but practicalthings too Jamie took me and my mum to see a variety of properties but kept to our brief of what we were looking for Sarah helped us with the lawyers and took us to the notary she is so lovely and really took the stress away There is a reason this company get 5 star reviews and that s because they give a 5 star service

3 Buyers Fee Beware

Why are reviews on this company not including the bad reviews Having bought and sold 2 properties in the last 18 years in Spain I contacted HomeEspana for information on a property we were interested in I was told the property had a Buyers Fee of 3 on top of the price listed Therefore this company not only get the sellers fee they double it to a 6 fee Sellers and Buyers When questioned about this they called it an exclusivity fee Speaking to various agents in Spain all were astounded by this SELLERS beware you are not getting a fair deal and a 3 sellers charge is more the norm nowadays than ever not robbing buyers with an additional charge

Do NOT Trust this Company

We bought a home in the campo from HomeEspa a and were lied to throughout the process 1 HomeEspa a s biggest failing of many was that the agent allowed the former owner stay in the property for 15 days AFTER the home was legally transferred to our ownership During these 15 days the previous owner stole the solar panels and batteries the generator well pump water pump water heater kitchen stove chimenea light fixtures and furniture all items that were a part of the inventory my husband and I and the seller signed off on The agent and our lawyer only caught the seller in the process of the stealing from us by chance a friend s son was thinking about coming to stay in the house When we were notified about the theft via email we were still living in the US at the time we were told that the theft had been reported to the local police and the seller was being required to put 20 000 euros in a bank account to pay for the property to be reinstalled replaced or repaired However when we arrived in April for a week and in May for good we discovered that some property was still missing the heating stove was broken the water filter was leaking so we had no running water the kitchen stove and solar batteries were not reinstalled properly light fixtures were missing and more But because our lawyer did not ask us to sign the document recording this agreement we have no legal standing for redress 2 Second despite having the property assessed by the surveyor Home Espa a recommended we were not alerted that our well was dry The ad for the property claimed This unique property is completely self-sufficient as it runs the electricity from solar panels and has a backup generator The water comes from a natural well but there is also the possibility to connect to the mains water if needed So there are no utility bills It is actually impossible to connect to the mains water if necessary Instead we receive agricultural water without fertilizer for 1 hour once a week except when there is a significant amount of rain like this year RioAlcoy has not sent any water for more than three months 3 Never use a lawyer recommended by the real estate agency because that lawyer will be working for them and not you

Last year we started our search for a home in Spain and our search was eventually narrowed down to Valencia or D nia Despite many enquiries on Idealista only a handful of agents got back to us and only one went to the lengths that Clare from Home Espa a went to She met us personally in D nia drove us around most of the town that day not only showing us properties but also showcasing the town that she clearly loved She showed us the beaches the Central Market and other places of interest in the area We had already shown an interest in a property in Russafa in Valencia but Clare s gentle persuasion and passion for D nia meant that by the end of the day we paid a deposit on a superb development near the Marina We have now purchased our dream property in D nia and we have been passed on to the equally superb Emma in the after-sales department Both Clare and Emma have been proactive and supportive throughout the whole process and they are a credit to Home Espa a We probably would have bought in Russafa had Clare not gone the extra mile to convince us otherwise and Emma has been giving us some excellent advice in the after-sales process Thank you both so much
