"Old fan now disappointed"

I had a subscription from the early days but stopped a year or two ago because the cards are getting so very elaborate Of course it is hard to find new ideas for over 20 years but the simple ones were always the best

"2023 Advent Calendar dissapointing"

So disappointed in the 2023 Advent Calendar I have looked forward to the calendar every year and found them amazing that is up to this year There are too many solitaire games the videos are less informative eg - recipes and traditions etc and the Edwardian scene doesn t show anything like in the past especially the Sussex calendar last year now that was a pleasure to watch and open Hopefully it s the actual era that was difficult to portray and the 2024 advent calendar is back up to usual standards

"Edwardian Advent Calendar"

We have purchased the Jaquie Lawson advent calendar for years and look forward to it as a December tradition This year was unfortunately very disappointing In previous years there is loads of things to change and play about with Not so this year and the price was a very significant increase too Sadly I will be reconsidering next year

"There seem to be so many problems with "

There seem to be so many problems with this The blocks won t turn in one puzzle the arrows won t work in the teddy skiing game and now I can t open one of the presents on 13th December It s a bit of a disappointment Not good enough to produce something with so many problems

"I think JL has sold out sadly"

I think JL has sold out sadly No longer has the original spark The advent calendars are very predictable now I did like the Sussex one last year but the Edwardian one is very dull full of English class system mores The games are all pretty much the same from one year to the next and I don t have the same excitement about opening each day s offering Bring back the Alpine train

"No longer a Mom Pop Business"

Great cards but that s about all They have once more raised the annual fee now up to 30 Even worse they have eliminated the free advent calendar when you renew your subscription this was always my favorite free thing to look forward to the worst thing to look forward to is the auto-renewal feature no way to just pay for a single year It used to be a simple Mom Pop operation now it has turned into a big business

"Disappointing changes"

The new site is not as user friendly as the old site The Christmas designs are not suitable for Australian subscribers I have been a subscriber for a few years but do not intend to renew again Jackie Lawson cards seem to have lost their way and their collection and site no longer suit me

"if you don t actually care"

As a recipient of these missives I am finding them to be a bit trite like an easy way for uncreative people to seem artistic If you re contemplating whether to send these out I d say save your money and send a heartfelt email in your own words so much more meaningful

"A sizeable drop in quality and feel"

Go back to the last calendar produced before Carlton Cards took over and compare that to what was produced this year It is heading beyond boring The few games left are unchallenging the graphics simplified are stiff stilted and lack the artistic finesse of the original Jacquie Lawson team s skills the small scenes which appear from time to time are uninspired and don t tell a story e g A bunch of feathered creatures lumbering along a boring patio All the detailed elements of the past which made the interaction fun are no more e g Remember the Christmas Nordic gnomes which popped up all over the place and ended up on the room shelves And no the animals to be found daily in the opening scene do not cut it Noticed how there are all placed in the foreground plane of the image And glitches with the technical side happen The start up was a longish mess for a couple of weeks before a lot of people could get into the calendar Just yesterday theparcel-of-the-day did glitter opened itself and proved to be empty no new game image story The train to be put together had its problem also it insisted in switching its locomotive and its caboose which meant the train was powered by an engineless car supposed to be in second position Oh I just went to check and it s gone from the bottom of my Christmas tree to And on and on Just a sloppy job with potential which would benefit from more attention to detail more details more fun Where are the sweet village streets with all the houses to observe and the people strolling around them to see what shop was lit up today and in business The people of the Edwardian era look stiff and lumbering just like the birds strutting around Sorry it is no longer the enchanting event of the other years

"Rubbish"

The calenders are usually lovely but the Edwardian one this year 2023 is absolutely rubbish full of bugs so disappointing I won t be buying any more of her offerings
