This is a follow up to my first review
This is a follow up to my first review I am impressed with JLCPCB This being my first experience with CircuitMaker Gerber files and having a PCB house fabricate my first design It took 5 uploads of my design to make it through audit and they never gave up on me All of the problems were attributed to getting the CircuitMaker parameters just right and there are a LOT of them I was going to wait a month before my 3rd try If your design is rejected at audit they give you week before they fully cancel it and refund your money so I waited a couple of days rather than a month 1 I gave them way too many files They only need the files in the Gerber and NC Drill folders in retrospect the Gerber folder will contain drill info as well I included only those and uploaded a new zip 2 Many of the Gerber files were missing CircuitMaker by default does not output many of the needed files I checked them all in the Gerber configure and uploaded a new zip 3 There was no Board Outline I did make the board shape in CircuitMaker to my board size and it did generate an Outline file but it only had partial information It turns out you must draw your board outline on the Outline layer - sizing the board to your outine size is not enough You would think CircuitMaker would warn you of these types of issues but it doesn t this all occurs after the Design Rules Checks DRC Uploaded a new zip 4 There was no drill data in the Gerbers Again CircuitMaker will generate the files but not completely if the configure options were not set properly I checked the approprate boxes after a lot of on-line research as the documentation was rather weak in that area Uploaded a new zip 5 They then reported a short circuit in the design I told them I set up CircuitMaker electrical and design rules per their websites capabilities I was getting 0 warnings and 0 errors After a few rounds of emails from the JLBPCB production coordinator they sent me what the top layer looked like I could see the shorts somehow a transistor s Overlay and Courtyard lines were getting merged into the Top copper layer I uploaded a final zip but not sure if I fixed the post DRC short circuit I told them to proceed with the shorts and I will remove them as it was only 8US for 25 of these tiny prototype boards After a few emails to confirm to build as is with the short circuit the board went into production My order was completed and shipped within 36 hours of my clicking Proceed to Production on the order status on their web site I have to hand it to JLCPCB they were professional all the way they didn t want to proceed with a design with shorts and I was able to watch the production step progress in real-time from their website As my board was being made I found another subtle option in the Gerber configure set-up - there were three options to include certain layers on other plots In other words merge them into the copper layer Again CircuitMaker was not clear about this in any documentation I could find Because all of this is after DRC you don t know how the Gerber files are generated I found many free Gerber viewers on line It showed me the short just like JLCPCB reported I was able to confirm that I removed the shorting issue for my next PCB run Lesson learned View your Geber files before sending them out to fab What you see in a CircuitMaker design is not nessisarily what you get at the Gerber level

JLCPCB Knows What They Are Doing
I am an electrical engineer but in Aerospace companies we do not layout our PCBs we have a group that takes our schematics and routes them for us I have a home project that required a small PCB so I downloaded CircuitMaker drew a schematic and then laid out the PCB I have watched the PCB engineers over the years and had the basics so that was all I needed but I was not sure about generating the Gerber and Drill files JLCPCB rejected my design because it had too many files that they don t require This makes sense because they don t want to be accused of building a PCB wrong because you had something in a file they can t use They were very professional and it was easy to upload the changes I removed everything except the Gerber and NC Drill folder and uploaded the changes A couple of hours later they came back to tell me that now there were a lot of files missing in the Gerber folder Again I can see why they will not tell you which files are missing because as a PCB designer you are supposed to know your craft They were very professional so I tried to build the Gerber and Drill files again This time I saw there was a button to click for Gerber options I clicked it and found a TON of options I need to select and NONE of the ones that made sense to me were selected by default So I have a lot to learn before I can send a design to a PCB fabrication house I wrote back to JLCPCB and explained this and asked to cancel my order and give me a month to explore CircuitMaker and learn what each Gerber file option I need so I don t waste their time - being a neophyte on the subject They were very nice refunded my payment and assured me to try again in a month after I learn all the ins and outs of Gerber file generation So even though I had a rough start I gave JLCPCB 5 stars for being professional and insuring they want to build your design as best as possible with no questions on the data They do this every day and get a lot of flack for not building a PCB correctly but that seems to happen with people that are not engineers I am an engineer but not seasoned with laying out PCBs yet Soon it will be another addition to my resume And I will go back to JLCPCB again

Formula Student team
I am writing this review on behalf of the formula student UPM Racing team of the Universidad Polit cnica de Madrid After receiving the first orders necessary for the manufacture of our electric vehicle we have contrasted the quality in the manufacture of the PCBs as well as the fast manufacturing compared to other manufacturers with whom we have worked Our assessment is very positive and we are sure that we will continue working with them in the future

Great experience value and turnaround
I use them frequently for pcb manufacturer and have done so for years I stick with them because of their awesome value and turnaround tiimes Some people complain on here about poor service but what I have experienced is exemplary even down to them accepting responsibility for a parcel lost by Evri in UK Remember that they sell prototyping pcbs and do them delivered very affordably so they could have misprinted silkscreens or other non-functional errors but these are very infrequent If you present your gerbers with the correct design-rule validation then you should not experience any issues with your pcbs or stencils - You cannot blame JLCPCB for your design faults For me JLCPCB fulfil a useful and cost-effective pcb manufacturing assembly function with a quick turn-around i will continue to buy my pcbs stencils from them and recommend any acquaintances to use them
