Complete lack of transparency
Complete lack of transparency As others have stated very money oriented I pre-paid for several months of subscriptions in June I have yet to receive a single box They have great limited edition options but not worth the subscription if your hoping for early access Plus the additional 10 mo fee for special access on top of a subscription is bullocks Given this is geared toward middle grade books this feels like preying on vulnerable younger readers

Ordered a reading journal with the points I had saved up at the time and paid 12 delivery Tracking number never worked and after about 6 weeks I got in touch with litjoy to check on the status of my order Was told it was already delivered I went back on my ring camera to the date the said and saw that the delivery driver did visit - he knocked on my door walked of to the side of my house out of camera shot and then left the garden without leaving a note I sent them the footage and they came back to me a few days later with a picture of my package stuffed behind one of the plantpots at the end of my garden I went out to check but obviously after 2 weeks the package was gone The plantpot in question is up against my neighbours fence and can be seen from the street At first they offered me a replacement or refund but before I could even answer them they backtracked saying since delivery could be proven I could only have replacement of product for cost of delivery or just a replacement I argued this with them - why should I pay anything claim it back from the company who miss-delivered the item but after a while of them arguing against me I got back to them to say I would have the refund of product I didn t want to lose the saved up points but I wasn t paying twice for a product to be delivered Well they ate now backtracking again saying as delivery was proven it is against policy to refund Delivery was not proven at all the delivery man just left my package in a random place I would never think to look that can be seen from the street and accused through my neighbours garden and then left no note to indicate that it was there I was a crate subscriber lunacorn for years and spent thousands with this company for them to basically call me a liar over 12 delivery fee Surely if I was trying to get something for free it would be the 200 orders I d been getting delivered for the last 3 years not a reading journal that was free with points This is the only time in all my orders 10 since January 2022 plus 10 months of paying for lunacorn subscription And a lot more the previous years that I have ever reached out to litjoy and this was the experience I recieved I m disgusted with the customer care from this company and am looking in to a way of reporting their conduct to the federal trading commission

Boxes are never shipped on time
Boxes are never shipped on time They re usually months behind and don t apologize or give subscribers any reason or coupons for the wait If you try to use points and add them to the product but don t actually check out and decide against the purchase you lose all your points The hp themed boxes used to be really nice quality items Now it s as though they re just throwing random stuff together that done even make sense I m assuming that s why they re discontinuing harry potter themes crates I do not recommend this over priced company

Keep your money safe and run
They charge your card every quarter but consistently have shipping delays lasting months resulting in now subscription boxes arriving For example I have yet to receive my spring quarter box but just got an email that my fall 2023 box I delayed When I contacted customer support they are unhelpful and even accuse customers of lying about not receiving boxes Based off the other reviews here I wish I would have done my research before purchasing from this company

I preordered a special edition in April intending to give it to my daughter for Christmas I periodically received emails saying don t worry it s still shipping this fall which in the fall turned into don t worry still shipping LATE FALL until today when I checked the shipping blog and they posted yesterday saying it might be next year I m furious How could it be on track to ship 12 days ago when you emailed and now it might be next year Because it was never on track in the first place This was too expensive to not get it right What a joke

Unrealistic shipping targets
Ordered a limited edition boxset in April 2023 which was due to be shipped fall 2023 Many updates later with assurances that the set would be shipped fall this was then stretched to late fall I never received the latest email update but on checking the shipping blog it appears that this item will now be shipped NEXT YEAR Incredibly disappointed

Ridiculous unprofessional disappointing
I bought a special edition book for my friend s birthday in the summer knowing it would be shipped in the fall Then it became late fall Now I get an email saying they re going to try to send it by next year This is ridiculous I only bought this book because the book was special to my friend and there isn t even a way to request a refund This is absolutely unacceptable and simply unprofessional I spent a lot of money for me for my friend instead of buying her any other gifts Now my present is almost an entire year later and I have no faith this will be here by next year Don t waste your time or your money because they ll happily take it from you

Waiting for 4 months now being ignored
Getting real damn tired of waiting for a book box I ordered in APRIL Keeps getting delayed and now they won t answer any questions I have They are just leaving me on read I made the mistake of ordering a second set in the series they are doing and my bank won t let me dispute charges more than 4 months old Their constant emails of On track to ship turn into Delayed then back to the on track to ship to delayed into the NEXT YEAR Why not be transparent and just say this is an extreme pre-order Then we get emails saying not everything we paid for will be included so we are getting an e-signed plate Disgusting

Item shipped months late with no help from customer support
I ordered a book in June 2023 and tried to cancel it when they announced that it wouldn t be shipping until the fall but couldn t get a response from their customer support It had been so long since the order that I thought the cancellation had actually gone through and had forgotten about it Then today I get a notification in mid-February 2024 that they re shipping the book Got in contact with their customer support finally and was told they don t accept cancellations or offer refunds So it s okay for this company to regularly ship things months and months late with no explanation or apology but you re not allowed to cancel your order when they fall through on their end of the deal I ve spent hundreds of dollars on their site over the last few years but there s no way I m ever ordering from them again after dealing with their so-called customer support on this Don t buy from them if you want to actually know roughly when you re getting something you paid them money for or if you want a helpful response back from their customer support Their responses read as though they feel entitled to your money without having to deliver on their promises and the other reviews here validate that Really gross behavior after all the forgiveness and patience we all gave to them when they were having shipping delays during Covid which they ve apparently not tried to fix Edit I tried to leave a review of the book on their website and confirmed my account through email but the review never showed up since it had negative things mentioned The new positive reviews are showing though Really shady practices from this company

Avoid at all costs
When I first signed up for Litjoy s To Bee Read subscription box I was so excited However not even 6 months later I can honestly say I will never do business with this company again They are unprofessional and like someone else stated their actions make it seem like they feel they are entitled to your money In January I purchased a pre-order item set to ship in May I wanted to cancel the purchase and reached out to customer service to do so before the pre-order window closed Again this is a pre-order item which hasn t been shipped yet When Litjoy customer service responded after the preorder window had closed they refused to give me a refund stating I should have cancelled before the window closed When I told them I did they backtracked and said orders have to be cancelled within 48 hours of them being placed to receive a refund They then referred me to their refund policy which explicitly states they will not give refunds for items once they have shipped It doesn t matter if the items are opened untouched or even received by the recipient This gives the buyer absolutely no recourse whatsoever while ensuring the company s profits remain unaffected I m honestly not sure how it s legal Naturally I filed a chargeback with my credit card company because they gave me absolutely no other way to get my money back for an item they have not sent me After investigating my credit card company determined that LitJoy was at fault as they cannot refuse to refund an item that hasn t been shipped Since the dispute was closed by my credit card company I have received three emails in the past 7 days asking me to cancel the chargeback and saying they will make an exception if I do First according to my CC provider this is literally impossible since they contacted me after the dispute had already been closed Second their exception involves promising me a refund once the chargeback is closed minus the 25 in rewards points I used for the purchase Meaning I am still paying an amount for the item and just not getting it since I had to spend money to earn the rewards points Until the chargeback is closed they refuse to allow me to access any other rewards points I have accumulated from purchases on their site They have actually gone into my account and issued me -10 000 rewards points with the label chargeback to penalize me by erasing all my points earned and preventing me from earning anymore I even debated submitting this review because I am frightened by their behavior however I truly want to save others the distress that I ve endured Now I get anxious whenever I have to check my email because I m nervous about what they may do next to get me to cancel a chargeback that s already been closed I have never seen this level of unprofessionalism from a company Do not trust them with your money I wish I had read these reviews before I signed up for their service Do not make my same mistake Avoid at all costs
