Mailbox org is bad Stay away
They suddenly changed their plans and disabled custom domains for the 1 EUR plan with no warning forcing existing customers to pay many times more to keep it working Many users took to complaining on their forums but the company never addressed any of the grievances only pasting their template message blaming the economy Mailbox org is a greedy company that knows you can t afford to lose your e-mail address and keeps it hostage until you pay them more

Avoid - they have no interest in staying in business
They seem to want to go out of business I am unable to reset my password as their system does not send out reset links Their support portal even requires your password to access Their support desk is unresponsive So I cannot renew my subscription and have lost access to my inbox PS They said they issued a Temporary password but didn t They refused to send it to the email address I provided Their recovery process is flawed in addition to their password reset flow So I am now going to lose my emails and have to find a new email provider Well done

Terrible buggy interface unclear payment system that feels deliberately misleading and a disastrous support team In short avoid this service You re better off using a more reliable and secure email provider like ProtonMail or Tutanota instead of this amateurish platform

False advertising of cancellation policy
There is no mobile app The web interface looks old What frustrated me the most was that they did not honour their refund policy They say they have a 30 day trial and a full refund before the 14th day They never accepted to refund me before the 14th day

Great tech mediocre UI terrible support
The tech side of the service is excellent as long as you stay away from the web interface The latter is designed poorly and tedious to use There are quite a few items I would label as bugs On the people side I find the support very weak It takes extremely long to get a response and the responses that are received tend to be condescending and rude This is a company still in its infant shoes though it has all the prerequisites to be great

Be careful about subscription renewal
EDIT I was finally able to recover my account thanks to the customer support which processed my reactivation request in less than 12 hours I still think the grace period is a bit short ---I used mailbox as a secondary mail provider To be honest I was rather satisfied with the service BUT I forgot to renew my 1-year subscription Since I don t remember there s a way to set a recovery email address I never got a notification whether by email or SMS telling me that my subscription was about to expire So naturally there was a long period during which I didn t visit the mailbox web app which happened to coincide with the expiry of my subscription Now my account seems to be gone for good EDIT fortunately the account deactivation was recent enough so that I was able to get it reactivated thanks to customer support Yes I ve been a careless airhead Still I d advise the mailbox team to 1 give users the possibility to set a recovery email address there apparently is such a setting but it doesn t apply to the 1 month plan 2 send expiry notifications to other channels than the mailbox inbox3 put some effort in the web UI which is well somehow outdated

Good and clunky
Good The mail service is good on the computer and intuitive with folder set up and handy extra multiple email addresses you can send from Clunky Using the same on my mobile feels like using a computer in 1995 I often get a reset while writing an email or it decides to throw me out altogether back to login page swiping seems to do that Overall I trust it and can work around the weaknesses and the cost is just about acceptable If they could figure out how to make work a bit smoother they could have a fabulous product
