Dangerous predatory publisher
Doesn t honor unsubscription requests spammer Invites me to become reviewer or even editor for random topics where I have absolutely no expertise That is certainly not what scientific peer review is supposed to be like This sheds a very bad light on the already low reputation of this publisher There are many predatory publishers out there and MDPI is apparently one of them

blatant fake news
Quality-driven but production of manuscript is dramatically inefficient and initially unreliable Such is my judgment based on my own experience and the information I got from MDPI Sustainability I refer to Sustainability as MDPI because I guess the MDPI production department works for multiple MDPI journals MDPI s strives for fast and high-quality output there were four peer-reviewers and everybody worked hard to get things right However during production getting the output online in the right format both MDPI and I had to cope with gross inefficiencies in processing and communication After MDPI accepted our essay it forced me to devote more than a MONTH of intense mundane labour 18 days of which were completely unnecessary I guess 25 days work in total which could have been reduced to three days or so if Sustainability would have revealed the necessary information especially good style guidelines and LaTeX BiBTeX requirements MDPI made the production process equally inefficient for its production and editing departments which worked very hard and swift to get things right Unfortunately they did not reveal all changes they introduced among which were plain and important errors which I managed to intercept but only because I realized I had to run comparisons That said I am greatful that MDPI allowed me and a co-author to publish a paper which we hope will make a change Trustpilot leaves insufficient room for all details and a more objective account

Abysmal
Abysmal treats their staff like garbage and highly unethical platform in regard to lack of rigorous checks on papers that are published so long as the money is paid to get it out there
