Bad Result - Newmedica Whiteley

I am sorry to have to leave a negative review as all the staff are lovely I recently had a cataract lens replacement The procedure itself was quick and painless However the next day my vision was blurred plus I had lost the bottom and peripheral vision I contacted Newmedica and was advised that blurred vision for a couple of weeks was normal and not to worry I have to say that this is not how it was sold to me The following day I was still extremely distressed as I make my living driving I again made further contact Newmedica did not seem concerned and asked me to come in after a few days On arrival I underwent various tests and eventually saw their optician He was clearly concerned and left the room several times to consult Apparently the pressure in my eye high was extremely high In my opinion had I been seen right away perhaps the outcome would have been different The pressure build up had caused the blood supply to part of the optic nerve to be cut off What was concerning is the attending Ophthalmologist at Newmedica made no effort to see me and left me in the hands of the optician I was given some pressure relieving tablets and was directed to the emergency eye ward at the Queen Alexandra hospital The staff and Ophthalmologist at the QA were fantastic and really concerned I underwent several tests and a blood test to rule out various possible causes I was prescribed a course of steroids and various eye drops Plus given several follow up appointments Anyway to cut a long story short it has now been a month since the op I have been left with life changing circumstances whereby I have lost around 50 of my vision in my eye and told that it will not improve and there is a chance that it will get worse I paid privately which in itself cost a significant amount Needless to say I am an extremely unhappy customer

Superior Eye Surgery

I had both my eyes treated for cateracts by New Medica at their Whitely facility I was referred their by my opticians instead of going on my local hospitals waiting list which was 66 weeks long New Medical treated my first eye within a month of my first optician appointment The second eye was also treated extremely quickly following my optician checkup The facility is quite modern and comfortable They offer tea coffee hot chocolate to drink in the waiting areas The staff are very friendly and quickly put me at ease I was nervous about work being done in my eyes but my fears were quickly out to rest Prior to the surgery I attended an appointment where the process for removing my cateracts was explained At no point did I feel like I was just another patient They took the time to answer all my questions and ensured that I was completely comfortable with the procedures Prior to surgery I met the surgeon who again was friendly and extremely professional When you read about cataract surgery it can be a bit daunting The actual procedure was completely pain free and very quick I was told to look at a bright light I felt slight pressure on my eye but nothing more and then the surgery was finished I then had the aftercare described to me a routine of eye drops for three weeks A cup of tea and a biscuit and that was that At the time of wring this review I have had the cateracts in both eyes removed My long distance vision is now incredible I did not realise how bad my vision had got If New Medica is an option for you for cataract removal then I highly recommend that you ask to be referred to them A one word review for them would be Exceptional

Newmedica made my eye surgery a pleasure

I selected Newmedica to deal with my cataract surgery and I was immensely impressed From start to finish they were professional detailed and friendly My initial appointment for assessment was made within a few days and surgery booked just 10 days later Newmedica arranged for an Uber to collect me and take me home at no cost to me On arrival for surgery I was made to feel comfortable and everything was explained to me in detail by a friendly doctor and nurse At each stage my prescription notes and concerns were dealt with Some of this was repetitive but it was comforting that they were ensuring at each stage that there were no mistakes or misunderstandings The surgery was painless After the short surgery the surgeon sat with me over a cup of coffee and explained everything I needed to know in terms of aftercare and any questions I had I was then sent on my way 24 hours later I had a follow up call to ensure there were no issues that I was too hesitant to report Newmedica and their staff have been a pleasure to work with and I cannot fault their professionalism service and care

Apprehension

Any apprehension you may have and most of us do is well understood by all the staff from the first time you walk in the door they all could not be more pleasant and help full I was honestly surprised at how quick and painless the operation was lye back keep still watch the red light and 15 minutes later you will be looking out of the window not believing the difference in contrast and colour saturation

Newmedica Abingdon were kind and efficient

Newmedica Abingdon were kind professional and quick Newmedica operate a very efficient cataract surgery factory for the NHS although they do a private enhanced service too I was seen within two weeks and all finished within a month after that It s at least an 18 month wait at the John Radcliffe Hospital The surgery itself is a little uncomfortable and they do not offer any anti anxiety medication however the staff are very reassuring and the procedure is quick Strict protocols for operations are adhered to If you have no complex eye problems I would highly recommend Abingdon Newmedica for cataract surgery

100 BRILLIANT CARE From start to finish

I attended Newmedica in Bristol and can 100 absolutely say I was looked after from day 1 to completion of both of my eye surgeries with the very best care I fully agree with a previous review by Colin so I don t need to repeat All the staff I met on my journey were so kind and informative and always spoke at my level I now have fantastic clear vision and love it thank you so so much the team in Bristol and the NHS

Cataract removal

I attended the clinic today and had a cataract removed from my right eye The staff were amazing and throughout the procedure everything was explained thoroughly I will be returning to have the other eye cataract removed ASAP I cannot recommend this company high enough

Very positive experience

I had my surgery on 7th October at the Barnwood Gloucester Unit I m an NHS patient referred by my optician I can honestly say my interactions with every member of staff were fantastic nothing was too much trouble and great care was taken to ensure I was comfortable at every stage of the process I will definitely be going back to have my other eye done when it s ready

NEWMEDICA Worcester - FAULTLESS Superb major corrective surgery - highly recommended My original cataract surgery was with Spamedica where my eyes experienced severe trauma double vision and blindness in one eye Spamedica treated the blindness with drops and I could see light again but my vision was very foggy and I still saw double Over the months my eye sight deteriorated It was worse than when I had cataracts Spamedica offered me nothing and signed me off They did not refer me to more experienced surgeons This genuinely happened to me In contrast Newmedica had the expertise to correct my vision and I underwent two major eye surgeries I am so grateful to Newmedica It was life changing to have my sight back again
