Be warned Pegasus Publishers are a fraudulent company
Pegasus Publishers are a fraudulent company and I would strongly advise people not to sign with them They have not only ripped me off royally but they did it so blatantly as if to say with a middle finger held hi in my direction feck you we have your money I entered into a hybrid publishing deal with them on the 19th of October 2023 I did so because I believed that they could help with my first novel I knew I had issues with parts of it so having a professional editor and proof reader look over it was very appealing And of course a professionally created cover Sure I thought I would have been mad not to go with it How wrong I was When I received the cover samples I was actually dismayed They were more for the murder mystery thriller genre than a fantasy fairy tale It was plain to see that it had been thrown through some AI software without even a read of the blurb or anything that I had suggested To say it was appalling was an understatement It wouldn t have sold any books but more so than anything it didn t represent my book The next issue and the biggie for me was the edit proof read There was absolutely nothing constructive done to it Oh they ran the whole 100 000 words through word with track changes on But they had only indented the odd paragraph here and there or other useless stuff like that to give an impression that they had done something The Author s report was cut copied and pasted out of some online journal about useless bits of grammatical crap but nothing of actual significance In fact in some places their use of Microsoft word made things worse To say that they blatantly let me know that I was being ripped off is in no way an exaggeration I honestly feel that they metaphorically held a finger high in my face and uttered the words feck you I was gutted I ve suffered with my mental health in the past and needless to say over that period of time my anguish and anxiety re-entered my complete being and things got very dark Since I signed with them there has been plenty of correspondence I even mentioned it to them how this was affecting me but they really didn t care They had my money and that s all that mattered to them Last week I received the final draft from them and once again its an out and out embarrassment No legitimate publishing house would let anybody see what they planned on printing Like it beggars belief how nasty and cruel these people are and how they think they can treat people THESE PEOPLE ARE NOT ONLY FRAUDSTERS BUT IN FACT THEY ARE ACTUALLY WORSE THAN SCUMBAGS WHO WOULD STEAL YOUR GRANNIES SAVINGS FOR THESE PEOPLE DON T JUST STEAL MONEY THEY STEAL THE DREAMS OF FIRST TIME AUTHORS I have no qualms at all in stating this as in my opinion these people are the lowest of the low I so want to name the two people that I was dealing with the commissioning editor and my so-called coordinator But I m not sure if I can here And I really do not want to risk having this post taken down because it needs to be read But they aren t the cleverest bunnies at all The contract stated that they have 325 days to publish my book from submitting the last form which was obviously the signed contract That day was yesterday and this is the only reason that I haven t written a review before this date I needed to make sure that they had breached their side of the contract before going public Those words are written for anyone to see in my contract 325 days after the last form has been submitted But now guess what they re trying to somehow tell me that they have until January 25 to get my book out THEY DON T But I m obviously not surprised that they would try this In fact I wouldn t expect anything different to come from them THEY ARE FRAUDS And I have the correspondence to prove it For anyone planning on signing with them I would urge you for your own good to seriously rethink your decision For anyone who has been offered a traditional publishing deal with them please remember this your deal has been supplemented by the misery that they have inflicted on innocent first time authors like myself and they don t give a flying fiddlers about how it affects anyone As long as they have the money that s all that matters to them THEY ARE FRAUDS Just one last thing If you do sign with them remember this Unless they breach the contract they own the rights to your book and there is nothing you can do about it So all your hard work will have been in vain it will have been for absolutely nothing there ll be no great book-launch day I must have told about two thousand people possibly more in the past year about the release of my upcoming novel I do feel like a fool for being so na ve but I honestly did not think people in the publishing industry would be so nasty and cruel SHAME ON YOU PEGASUS PUBLISHERS

Pegasus Spinegasus FRAUDEGASUS
This is my second review in a week I ve read the Guidelines of Trustpilot and I m allowed to do this I need to reply to the reply from Pegasus to my review on the 9th of Sept 24 They state that they had 325 working days to publish my book Working days are actually industry specific For instance the health sector is seven days And so is the information sector which Publishing belongs to Writers and journalists write work whenever they please 24 7 365 And more importantly the specific working days was not specified in the contract So the 325 workings days spin is purely an attempt by a fraudulent company to legitimise their purposeful deception And don t forget even though the offices of Pegasus might be closed at the weekends they are still trading in various book shops around the globe And of course they are always trading online 24 7 365 But here s the sad truth I wouldn t have cared less about the 325 days if I had of been treated with any semblance of decorum from these people But I wasn t I was treated like crap Maybe it s because I m Irish and they thought I might be an easy target Now to dispel some of the other crap they posted in their reply to my review Pegasus stated during a book s production we will go through numerous cover designs and manuscript edits with our authors This allows us to try out various options and explore the possibilities of your publication Ultimately both the cover and inners need to be signed off by yourself before they are sent to print I signed with Pegasus on the 19th Oct 2023 I paid for my hybrid contract over 3 months I made the last payment Jan 22nd I had to beg borrow and steal to get that cash In total I paid 2600 pounds On the 23rd of Jan I contacted my coordinator to say my side of the bargain was complete and to gently ask for a very rough timeline for production I did receive a reply that day Now I didn t want to push her so I didn t contact her for two months April 23rd I sent a very brief how are ye mail and I did receive a reply saying production was ongoing Now to my initial delight I received some cover samples on the 9th of May Well that was shortlived as I was seriously disheartened when I saw the contents I did share my dismay and I even sent her a suggested cover that had been designed by an 11-year-old and a 16-year-old sons of a very good friend of mine that was so much better than the sham s that had been sent by the pro s The two lads designed their cover because they thought the samples by Pegasus were far too grown up for my book My book is fantasy Since that day there has been ABSOLUTELY NOTHING sent to me regarding the cover not one iota So much for the great interaction between Author and publisher hey On the 22nd of May I voiced my concern to my coordinator about the amount of time that it was taking to get the ball moving with the edit I received a mail back later that same day reassuring me that everything was ok Pegasus had until January 25 to publish my book On the 23rd of June I contacted her but that day I gently reminding her that Pegasus did not have until January 25 to get my book published that they only had 325 days from signing Well holy crap a big hokas-pokas with no thought spared for the so-called 325 working days lie The very next day the 24th of June at 16 39 I received the first edit and proof read a farse of an authors report and the so-called proof-read blurb for the back that didn t actually have anything to do with my book There was nothing constructive done with it NOTHING that could be described as noteworthy to improve my manuscript Its then I truly knew I had been ripped off I knew that my book was never ever going to make it onto the shelves of any book store I also truly believe now that my book has most probably never been even read by these fraudsters liars and cheats I WAS DEVASTATED Now for some reason I continued on Even though I was now crippled with depression from the shenanigans that were playing out I had to try my very best to get something to salvage something from this farcical situation So I did an edit myself sent it on the 22nd of July and hoped I would get something of reasonable quality out of it stupid me On the 3rd of September I received the final edit To put it mildly no publishers in their right mind would ever consider sending this to an author for consideration let alone for possible print But in a way at least I have it as evidence Folks I m writing this here because I don t want to see anyone else being ripped off and treated like I have been treated To many of us here first time authors it s a bucket list dream to get a book professionally published and on a shelve in a reputable store Please be very careful if you are considering signing THEY ARE A FRAUDULENT COMPANY

Report this company to the Trading Standards
This is the WORST company I have ever dealt with Don t fall for their dubious claims they are a vanity publisher They claim to be a hybrid publisher but here is what really happens You pay a big chunk of money with the promise of high royalties on the back end They take your money and do nothing After a very long and depressing process dealing with them I have two years of emails to back this up two things have finally happened One I finally received the digital formatted version of my book It was so terribly done a ten-year-old could have done better The version they used was the very first unedited version I ever sent them not the current one There are so many other issues with it that I will not bore you The second is that I ve been in consultation with a lawyer who said As you now know you are not alone in this I ve had many authors contact me to see if there is anything they can do about them Unfortunately there is very little that any individual author can do without throwing good money after bad The one thing we should all do is REPORT THEM to the Trading Standards Their business model is opaque murky not up-front and honest about the product they produce or the effort they put into it In my opinion this seems like a classic bait-and-switch business model I believe they should be investigated For those of you who say I should have known better you are right Before signing I did do my homework Their reviews were not so terrible like they are now I researched the hybrid model and it seemed okay I contacted a previous author with them and he reported a decent experience I ordered a book they had produced and the quality was fine Still I was dumb and naive My experience has been horrendous from the beginning The disorganization is beyond terrible The staff appears to have little to no communication among them and cannot keep track of documents they ve requested of which I ve re-sent multiple times I ve gotten so many requests for the same information from different departments They don t respond to emails and when finally someone responds they are dismissive and rude AND I ve gone through two production managers apparently they have a high turnover since this nightmare began and as of a month ago none The very rude woman I finally spoke to said she was just helping out when I asked her what her title was since she said she was not my production manager although a different staff member told me she was Whatever that means DON T DO WHAT I DID Don t give Pegasus a dime of your money

Pegasus Publishers - Avoid Words from a Bookseller
I m a bookseller and I am shocked by how many first-time authors have not done their research into self publishing their work When I ask further about their experience of this company the publisher I am shocked at how many authors have paid to get into print and who have been promised so much publicity and access into bookshops by this outfit This is NOT true Pegasus does no promotion or sales pitches to the bookselling industry This company is a vanity publisher Some of the titles I ve physically seen are badly produced appear unedited badly edited and do the author s work no justice Not fit for shelves in shop Publishers like Pegasus should be studiously investigated and be upfront honest and honour what they promise They are NOT a traditional publisher Authors should NOT have to pay to have their work in print and if there is no payment upfront the author should be receiving royalties but that s a tough one as Pegasus I repeat do not publicise or market their author s books directly to booksellers nor any of the genuine book distributors wholesalers Having your book visible online eg Ama on is not marketing And is not sales I urge anyone wanting to get into print please do your research first and thoroughly Highly recommend getting a copy of the Writers and Artists Yearbook which is published annually Best 30 you ll spend if you are very serious about your work You as author have spent a lot of time and energy writing a book - treat it with respect and care You - and your work - deserve it Good luck

An investigation into hybrid paid-for publishing services
Everyone should READ THIS BEFORE signing with this murky company Is It A Steal An investigation into hybrid paid-for publishing services It is an investigative report by the Society of Authors and the Writers Guild of Great Britain and it shows just how these hybrid companies actually work It s bad The publishing industry needs to investigate this business practice and put a stop to it They categorically deny the label of vanity publisher But a lot of people categorically deny a lot of things and that does not make it true does it What they actually are and are not is determined by what they do not what what they say They DO take money from an author and the rights to the material And they DO NOT a Provide quality product b Provide quality service during the production c Provide quality post production service Meaning they take your money your rights make as cheap a product as possible and then put minimal or no effort into the product and post production so that in the end you don t get to see those nice royalties they promise on the back end in exchange for your up-front investment So what does that make them then if not a vanity publisher This might not be every author s experience with Pegasus Elliot Mackenzie but it has been mine And from the extensive research I ve done that seems to be the general consensus

Be Warned
I have just read the recent reviews All the positive ones are by new authors who haven t yet had to deal with the publicity department The negative ones report the same experience as ours once the book is published they leave it floating in the ocean and get on to the next one We found such a negative review too late when we had already entered into a so-called hybrid contract with them The money we paid them undoubtedly covered all the production costs but there seems to have been no publicity or promotion of our book although their former Publicist promised to make all sorts of contacts - including with film companies - and to update us the promises were never fulfilled Our book came out in four volumes starting in July 2021 with a main title and a subtitle for each volume and up to now July 2024 they avoid paying anything because as the books have different ISBNs we will not be able to calculate the royalties They cannot use a calculator to add up four sums of money and find the total Adding up the interest they have been accruing on these small amounts would be more difficult but we consider that they owe us that as well We repeat Be warned don t pay them anything to publish your book You are likely to be giving away far more than you will ever get back

Stay away from Pegasus Publishers
My clients experience with Pegasus Publishers has been a complete disaster Despite their initial assurances of support and dedication to authors they have proven to be nothing of the sort and simply do not care about the authors After signing a contract with them they failed to deliver on their promise to publish the book Over a year has passed with no progress and all attempts to reach out to them were met with silence We have been dealing with the manager Sandra who seems to be the only person who works here she does not represent the companies ethos has ignored us for over a year now and has no intentions of publishing our book despite taking payments On the occasions we have communicated with Sandra we were met with sarcasm and a lack of care It s clear that they have no intention of honouring their agreements or respecting authors rights Stay away from Pegasus Publishers if you value your work and your time

They are time waisters and scam
They are time waisters and scam artists My Mother has paid for a self publishing contract with them and they have repeatedly provided proof reading that was half arsed or done by pressing spell check rather than by a person We have ended up doing the proof reading ourselves Next they provided a layout that I would have done a better job of at the age of 12 on MS published and did not follow any of my pagination instructions we told them this is not up to the standard we were promised Now they have the cover there has been no word from them for 2 months They are constantly stalling I feel we have lost our money and will never see the book pubished to a professional standard
