It is a crap company with very weird rules about domain names and username
Protonmail is a scam company their service is non existing i canceled my account but no luck to get a refund they have a terrible rating now coz if there is a problem it s always your fault they never want to refund any money once it s in where grimy mitts

What an absolute joke of a company I
What an absolute joke of a company I just wanted to register a simple email address then they give me a form approximately one mile long to read through to do some verification work and fortunately I didn t have about 100 hours spared to do this so I ve gone to Google did it in two minutes

Do NOT use Protonmail
Do NOT use Protonmail I didn t like this encrypted Swiss based company at all I understand the point of encryption but this company charged my credit card 5 a month for 3 years Every year I d see it and ask them to delete and downgrade my account since I didn t use it Every year they would spiderweb me and claim they couldn t help due to the privacy of their system I d go to one customer service rep to another until I wanted to cry in frustration I finally found the user name another family member had set it up guessed the password and only AFTER I had paid their invoices when they weren t able to to charge my card due to expiration would it cancel my account I think it s a scam They have a free version chock full of ads I suppose you could use that but if they re using ads to pay for the service I guess they re also selling your metadata So they probably don t need your 60 a year on top of vacuuming up your data

Don t make my mistake
Mine is a classic case of wishing I d read the reviews first before signing up Hopefully if you re reading my story you won t make the same mistake I opened a new email account changed my email address with a few organisations and acquaintances and sent about 3 emails all over the course of just a few days All good No Complaints Until I went into my account and found I had been locked out of my account for a potential policy violation e g bulk messaging sending spam criminal activity Now this was weird as I had done nothing remotely dodgy I did some digging and found on Proton s own website that this sometimes happens in error and you can contact them to get the account reopened I did this but apart from automated responses I have heard nothing One of these automated responses even tells me I have new unopened emails in my account Not the most helpful email when they won t let me access my account So I have emails sitting there that require a response but Proton have locked me out for no reason and after days of waiting have done nothing to resolve the situation There is no phone number to contact customer support Customer support is by email only which you think might work with an email provider except of course they don t reply to their emails Bizarre I m left with no option but to contact everyone who I had changed to Proton and tell them I am changing yet again to a new provider and ask them to resend any emails they have sent me over the last few days Hours of work to fix this all because I trusted that Proton might be an efficient company Please don t make the same mistake I did report number 3152297

I want to share my super bad experience
I want to share my super bad experience with this company I subscribed to the business tier on 28th April 2024 and paid like 240 Because Proton has a 30-day refund policy I decided to cancel my subscription about 10 days later 9th May 2024 The reason was I didn t feel the value that Proton services offer matches with the money that I paid However I didn t receive any response from them nor my money got refunded I submitted a ticket to customer support on 29th May 2024 and guess what they refused to refund me because I cancelled the subscription within 30-day period but didn t send them a refund request within 30-day period I have never used a service having a refund policy like this before Now I just want my money back but they refused to do that and force me to keep using their bad service I only want to stay away from them forever so it means that I will lose 240 This company is totally a thief Stay away from them They just want your money and your data will be sold randomly someday

Do NOT use You will lose everything incl your money
After researching online for alternatives to google mail we found that protonmail came highly recommended so my family decided to switch Over the next few days we created free email accounts for my family 4 in total using my device Suddenly all of us got a notification saying we had abused the system and our emails were disabled Here s the weird thing we use VPN we use different browsers to login in including tor browser so how the heck did they come to the conclusion that we had abused their system if they didn t have the ability to spy on us spy on our device browser location IP etc Our suspicion is that protonmail is not as secure and private as they claim We are now switching to tutamial mailfence and gmx We ll see how that goes In any case we don t recommend protonmail for er privacy and security reasons

Have been using this service for
Have been using this service for several years Suddenly all emails have disappeared from my Inbox Even though they state that all emails are encrypted saved on their servers and can be recovered they still were not able to recover anything When I follow up they simply do not respond There seems to be a problem nowadays with them They will loose clients this way
