I would stay away from theunnecessary
I would stay away from theunnecessary French intimidation and aggression I would be embarrassed to be English if this was happening here My partner and I had a similar experience recently where we were basically bullied into paying a fine when we had done nothing wrong At one point 2 guys separated myself and my partner and put me on a corner and used physical force to keep me there I ctually thought it was some kind of joke but sadly no just French aggression bullying and intimidation at its finest Luckily I kept my cool otherwise I would have played further into their trap Be very careful when visiting To top it all the French Eurostar drivers went on strike on Sunday morning so we had to spend 500 on flights to get home Great performance all round from the French transport system this weekend outstanding Bravo

One star is too generous
What a complete and utter disaster firstly the metro service is a shambles and is barely functional That I could deal with The aptly named Rat pee RATP is an absolute abomination and France as a whole should be so embarrassed and ashamed They prey on tourists to earn a quick euro using scare tactics and bullying women in groups of 6 or 7 They exaggerate the extent of their powers which a visiting person would not know and wouldn t want to test This show of violence results in you paying an extortionate fine it s totally up to you if you want pinning to the ground before you pay You can follow the rules to a tee and still get fined so if you are reading this thinking we ll be ok you really might not be Awful people doing awful things Do yourself a favour and get a taxi it will be cheaper than the inevitable fine you ll pay Alternatively go elsewhere as Paris really isn t all it s cracked up to be

Threatened by transport staff dangerous overcrowding
There is an issue with exiting the Louvre with the transport system Hundreds of people were pouring out at the same time and the situation at the underground entrance was frightening with the overcrowding and dangerous I would suggest several announcements are made at the Louvre before closing time to try and manage the flow of people towards the train station and ease congestion Also there are ONLY two barriers for the huge crowd to get through at the station I have never experienced such a frightening situation In the UK we have police and queueing systems to help manage this and avert danger to people There were transport officers waiting at the other side of the barriers trying to catch people out at this busy time of the museum closing I was stopped and my ticket was taken It transpired that the barrier machine had not processed my paper ticket and I was told I would be fined they made up the fine amount on the spot A man that was walking down the concourse at the same time as me who had the same issue paid the fine I was not tolerating the threats and was not going to be bullied and punished as i had not knowingly done anything wrong Although we both seem to have had the same issue and several others there was no question as to what the problem could be we were harnessed and bullied to extract a fine from us It seemed like a scam although they were wearing uniform as staff were punching in numbers on a card machine saying this is what you would normally pay but today you will pay this I tried to reason with the officer and he threatened me with the police if I did not pay as he demanded I then became more forceful and argued with him repeatedly that I would not pay as I had already paid for 2 tickets that day to get to the Louvre and back and that it is not my fault if the machines are not working I also pointed out that how could I have got through the barriers as they opened when I inserted my ticket He then left to go up to the machine His colleagues then told me I could leave I was really appalled with the way I had been treated and especially that I had been threatened with law enforcement They were deliberately stationed to harass visitors to the Louvre and tourists at the museum closing time There needs to be an improvement in the communication between the museum and the transport system to address the dangerous situation upon closing hours public safety and also harassment of tourists Also there were a few times that I got stuck at stations and my tickets were not working and no one was stationed at the ticket booth I tried to get help from the call button I was informed that they did not speak English they didn t even try and become rude and hung up on me repeatedly So many of the stations and corridors reek of urine Hygiene and cleanliness needs to be addressed it is revolting The only good thing is that any staff actually based at stations were kind patient and helpful

Not for nothing are they known as Rat Pee
We bought 4 metro tickets at the same time the old cardboard version as a group of 4 travelling together Entering the Metro at Monparnasse 2 tickets opened the barriers and 2 did not A gate was wide open and many people were passing through it Assuming a fault with the barriers we did likewise There were no RATP personnel visible to provide advice Hiding round a corner further down was a group of RATP officials who tested our tickets and demanded a total of 85 euros in fines for having invalid tickets They ignored our explanation and under time pressure to make a Eurostar connection at Gare du Nord we paid up At Gare du Nord 2 othe RATP officials looked at our receipts for the fines and said this was most abnormal and not just RATO have rejected our complaint

The worst transportation service
The worst transportation service I ve ever experienced Trains always delayed or cancelled for whatever reasons even during the week Employees are useless as hell and have no clue of what proper customer service means They don t even speak a word of English Overall It s actually not surprising considering this a public service I d rather pay more for a private service which would work 200 better like London for example

I can only agree with most of the reviews here We were very lucky just getting to pay about 60 euros to much due to the scam machines a k a ticket machines which are set up so you have no idea what tickets you need If I could I would have given five negative stars Never again ratp

Absolute scum of a business
Absolute scum of a business The dirtiest public transportation in all of Europe not surprised at all if it is still plagued with bed bugs Workers are aggressive too Masterclass on how to run a disaster business My friend first time visiting Paris accidentally threw his ticket after he enter and exited the turnstile The worker at the station confronted him at the exit stair demanding him to pay a fine or else he s going to call the police and double the fine Wouldn t even listen to us showing him the receipt A proper business tie with the city acting like a bunch of thug threatening people with the police force Do better Have some class some courtesy Re train your employees Maybe use your fund clean the train instead of hounding customers to pay money for policy that s not even once mentioned in English or anywhere that s explicitly visible
