They charge you to send messages to other people I paid for a one month subscription and got zero inquiries I used Roomies com instead and were able to find three of my current tenants on there Please don t waste your money on a subscription at Roommates com I think some of the accounts are also fake

Not worth it

DO NOT pay for a 60 day membership it s not worth it I had signed up early January 2021 and paid 3 to verify my identity optional then paid 30 for a 60-day upgrade to read full profiles and messages I wish I checked the reviews here first There weren t enough perfect matches available although I live in a large urban city and the room was low rent I messaged two women and one didn t respond the other didn t even sign into her account to read it The women who messaged me tried to get me to email or text them off-site right away and it felt scammy or like they were fake profiles I also had men message me when my profile said I wanted one female roommate I ended up finding a roommate from Craigslist on January 19th so I messaged roommates com to ask for a refund for February But they gave a short response and of course my money It is just bad business to charge for a service that will not be used

Duped into VIP service

This site has been a waste of time Half of the people I matched with did not have real profiles descriptions or photos I subscribed for one month of service which I believe I was conned into When I initially created an account I got a message right away from a match who couldn t see my information or couldn t contact me because I wasn t a VIP member I joined as a VIP and never heard from that person again The remainder of my month on the site did not yield anything worth mentioning The people that were designated as my perfect matches weren t even looking for a place in my city This site and service needs a major logistical overhaul to compete with other roommate services I think the only thing it has going for it at this point is the very convenient domain name

Extremely unsafe website

Roommates com is about as safe as craigslist And if you run into a scam artist on roommates com they will protect the scam artist They will be incredibly obstructive in anything you or the police try to do Strongly recommend avoiding this website It is not safe And the people who run the website will do nothing to make it safer or assist in criminal investigations

DON T DO IT YOU LL BE DISAPPOINTED

I wish I would have checked the reviews on here before I fell for the scam wasted my time creating a profile that would attract that perfect roommate for me then landed on the bad reviews ONCE I PAID to see my messages and still never heard back from a single supposed person looking for a roommate WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE why do they have to make a living TAKING OUR MONEY AND SCAMMING US Don t waste your time and effort

NOT RECOMMEND I ll have to concur with the other reviewers Roommates com has been a waste of time and more importantly money No one can directly communicate unless each party pays to view profile descriptions and or messages And like other reviewers I suspect they intentionally create BOGUS accounts to make it seem like you have matches or you ve have messages from an interested party But of course you have to pay to see it I ve done that a few times Text or call that person That person takes forever to respond Or stop responding after initial contact Setup Going through the motions after payment received Horrible site Would NOT RECOMMEND

Fake Scam made-up site

Wast of money and time none of the posted wanted roommates are fake made-up not real I paid for one month membership access send a dozen of messages for people listed on the site did not even got one respond this is a scam site Service and should be sued as and taken off the Air
