One star is not even correct
I started working for a new company and was paid on Friday - Santander stopped the payment from going into my account as they say its for legal reasons they need to check its not a scam or fraud - no one contacted me about this I only found out when I went to pay for something and was told I had insuffient funds in my account After speaking to 3 people - all unhelpful - the last one a manager seemingly told me I still had access to my savings and could use them until they legal team investigated - MY MONEY COMING INTO MY ACCOUNT I cannot see anything anywhere on the terms and conditions of my account that you would actually stop a payment coming into my account - leaving me with no money You should be ashamed that you have left someone on a bank holiday with no money in their current account - and when asked what I would have done if no savings - I was told well we would have looked at giving to an overdraft I have no actual words that I can put on this review on how I feel about Santander - apart from you have lost a customer

I would love to place minus stars
I would love to place minus stars SANTANDER ALLOW FRAUD A fraud account was set up by Santander and allowed over drafts to be created and money removed from accounts After contacting and being told account will be closed and no charges will be held against my partner we received further letter asking for monies taken to be repaid They broke GDPR when discussing the account with me at their own admission of which I have call recordings DO NOT USE THIS BANK They have allowed a new fraudulent account to be opened agreed an overdraft and then failed to close the account once contacted

Absolute disgusting customer service
Absolute disgusting customer service this people that dealing with customers issues should all be fired as they are destroying the reputation of Santander The guy that deal with my issue was absolute disgusting unprofessional his name is HARRY He has lied in my final letter he has contacted me to inform me that he will close the case and hang the phone in my nose absolute stupid disrespectful troll He has no ideea how to deal with customers he should be fired straght away AVOID SANDTANDER

IT system is living in the 00s Made the application for a new account incredibly inconvenient where because I had an old account with different info years ago I needed to PRINT OUT a change of info pdf form you can t fill it in digitally because the entry boxes are protected fill in details about my old account that I obviously no longer had the account was closed years ago then POST IT in order to access my account Or I could GO TO MY BANK which there are very few off in my area the nearest one being a 30min drive away Terrible bank terrible investment in their IT services Basically an online application is not online if you were an old customer You ll either need to go to you bank or print out pdfs and go to your post office A terrible system considering we re in 2023 Finally this must be a contravention of GDPR The old account was closed They had no need for my old info anyway

WORST BANK EVER
WORST BANK EVER IN THE LAST 3 MONTHS THEY SHUT DOWN MY CARD THEY SAID DUR TO FRAGULANT ACTIVITY BUT COULDNT PROVIDE ME WITH THAT FRAGULANT ACTIVITY THEN I HAVE TO WAIT ALMOST 2 WEEKS FOR A NEW CARD AND ALL MY BILLS ARE PAID THREW Automated system It s just very inconvenient And customer service is NOT helpful in any way Most of the time I speaking to someone that I can not understand there English is very bad Now I have to switch banks and do some research to find a decent bank and I barely have any time to be doing that It s just an awful Bank and I wish I would have never opened an account with them When I purchase something with my Santander card I get an alert the next day Not after the transaction like every other place does Just a bad experience

Appalling Lack of Customer Service
My account was frozen 6 weeks ago as a result of me trying to make an international payment of 4 000 Euros to help a friend in need Since then I have been led on a wild goose chase providing proof of my identity and proof of the hospital bill which I was trying to pay Despite many vacuous promises of me being contacted by the person dealing with my case I tried to close my Santander Current Account and my ISA This was done a week ago and still the funds have not been transferred to my preferred First Direct Account The appalling attitude and tardy lack of response lead me to warn other people how atrocious Santander are as a bank especially when you experience such problems as I have A blocked online bank account for 6 weeks is as useless as a chocolate teapot Also refusing someone access to their own hard-earnt financial funds I strongly believe to be a complete violation of my human civil rights I shall certainly be referring my case to the Financial Ombudsman

Worst Bank I have EVER dealt with I have Dealt with many I live in York County and when you go in the Shrewsbury branch well you know don t bother the manager because she s busy you know picking at her grapes and doing her nails etc etc so if you have a question you ll just have to wait till then before you could ask her it could just be like a simple question like what does 1 1 equal but she couldn t possibly answer that because she s so busy playing with her nails and watching on her snacks which I never seen anybody eating in a bank before in my life secondly my account was supposed to be frozen but I was told I could push checks through okay well instead of doing what they promised me they would do I said listen and these checks are going to go through and you re going to bounce my checks I cannot afford those fees So just forget about No I was absolutely 100 guarantee that they would go through absolutely no problem whatsoever well that was of course BS and one of them went through the least amount you know but the other one for my mortgage did not go throw in the other one for my laughter did not go through so therefore they kept sending them through and they kept denying them so then my fee which was you know could have been 100 ends up being 200 and they don t want to give me any money back they don t want to make anything right when their person guaranteed me that it would go through their representative guaranteed me it would go through the worst company in the whole world I can t stand them at all don t stay away if you want your money stay away if you want to lose your money go there

I read Chris Vinall s review and it echoes the appalling experiences of so many Santander s customers who have also been repeatedly locked out of their account by the thugs in their Bootle fraud centre Why is this Could these repeated lock outs have anything to do with the fact that Santander was last year fined by the FCA Financial Conduct Authority for 107m for money laundering Could they in in some perverse way be trying to gain access to legitimiate customer s funds Santander will lock your out of your account for the slightest excuse I read a recent review where a mother was blocked access when she was questioned about a payment from an insurance company following her son s accident abroad This was a legitimiate payment towards his hospital treatment yet Santander s infamous fraud department in Bootle bullied her and blocked her from accessing her account for months Thhis is outrageous behaviour it is criminal and Santander should be challenged on this fraud by customers taking legal action againstr them and reporting them to the FCA Little wonder the bank is losing customers in droves I ve repeatedly been blocked from accessing my account when travelling This results in long distance calls to their call centre only to be bullied and argued with when their fully aware that you are genuine as your voice has been verified for telephone banking yet they will continue to harass you when all you want to do is pay a utility bill I have emailed their CEO but he never responds So if the man at the top does not care what does that tell you about Santander

Locked out of account again
Yet again Santander blocked my accounts My Crime Daring to transfer funds to another more professional banking provider They claimed it was because I had done the transfer at an unusual time of day What utter nonsense Is this bank not open online 24 7 They claim it s to prevent fraud In reality the reason is to make it as difficult as possible to do business with any other bank Dreadful behaviour The app has not worked properly since November All I get is a spinning circle Despite me reporting the fault in November and countless other complaints on Google Play Store even this morning Santander denied there are any issues with their app Liars I will be so pleased when 26th Feb comes around when my account switch takes place and I will be rid of this awful bank forever
