Disappointed with the Entire Experience
Communication was one of several serious issues I encountered with this company Shortly after signing a short-term contract a representative reached out to me via WhatsApp to discuss feedback on the vehicle I found this method of communication unprofessional for a formal business interaction but chose to proceed nonetheless Unfortunately their responses were consistently vague terse and at times non-existent I frequently had to follow up via email just to receive basic information that should have been provided proactively Additionally the company operates from a single branch across the entire Netherlands making vehicle pickup and drop-off highly inconvenient This essentially forced me to use their delivery service adding further cost and hassle to the process As my concerns grew so did my mistrust in how they would handle the vehicle return process My suspicions were unfortunately confirmed upon returning the car after just three months of use I was hit with what I believe to be an excessive charge for so-called damage The evaluation felt neither fair nor transparent Overall I would not recommend this company based on my experience The lack of clear communication inflexible logistics and questionable post-rental charges made this a regrettable choice

Charging excess as business model
We leased a multi person van for 3 months for a very reasonable price Nothing was wrong with the lease itself but we were quite unlucky with a few damages side mirror was driven off by someone else when the car was parked we ran over a rock causing some damage to the chassis and and whilst driving the front windscreen cracked for which we had to pay excess which means for each event we had to pay excess which wasn t great but in line with their terms and conditions please do check these beforehand However when the car was returned we were informed that they found scratches on one side and on the roof and that the car wasn t clean even though we had it professionally cleaned the day before drop off As a result we were charged no less than 2 070 for excess damage as they considered the scratches to belong to two different events We subsequently contacted them and informed them that we had a ride through a forest with some low branches at some point but that we didn t notice any scratches And if there were any scratches on the side and roof of the car it must have happened during that single ride in the forest To our disbelief Shortlease didn t agree or accept this as we apparently never notified them about the damage As mentioned previously we were at the time not aware of any damage and so not able to notify them I think it s ridiculous to charge us 2 000 excess for damage that we didn t spot and treat it as two events because we omitted to report the damage Shortlease refused to have a phone conversation with us to discuss the matter which is unacceptable They claim that they think it s two different events and that we should have reported the damage which is not possible when one is unaware I m pretty sure their business model is to charge as much excess as possible and then rent out the same vehicle without any damage being repaired to their next victim Beware of these practices as this could cost you a fortune We will be taking this to the subdistrict court kantonrechter

Short on Time Long on Fine Print
If there s one thing I learned from my short-term lease with ShortLeaseLand it s the importance of thoroughly reading every single detail in the fine print This company seems to take advantage of those in need of a quick leasing solution and if you don t catch every nuance in their terms you might find yourself frustrated later down the line The process started off well with the account manager Bram providing helpful information However things quickly became overwhelming The pressure to sign documents on short notice made it difficult to fully understand what I was agreeing to and this led to a series of frustrations down the line I was asked to leave a five-star review two weeks after signing my contract This was before I had the chance to experience their service fully Asking for a top rating so soon is misleading and it seems to be a tactic to inflate their ratings before customers have had a proper experience I received numerous invoices that were confusing and hard to manage and despite canceling after the agreed two-month term I was still charged for an additional month and then credited again Why do this when I have only signed up for two months emailed that I do not want an auto renewal as well as signed the online form to confirm the cancellation of the contract so that it does not extend more than two months Their approach feels more like a trap for those who might miss something in the fine print rather than a fair business practice A 60 cleaning fee I was charged upon returning the car This fee felt extremely high as the car was returned in the same condition I received it aside from a minor GPS holder mark on the windshield In contrast my experience with DirectLease for a private lease was exceptional I have just signed a new lease with them I did not have to pay a deposit the delivery fee was 30 lower and my monthly lease fee 341 including Vat for a Fiat 500E demo model They were clear supportive and far more competitive in terms of pricing They ensured I understood everything from start to finish which made the process smooth and stress-free In summary if you re considering ShortLeaseLand make sure you read every detail in the fine print and try not do any of this in a hurry There are better options out there with transparent practices and better customer service
