Thousands of dollars wasted
My wife and I decided to build our forever home My wife has always wanted 5 panel shaker style doors so we talked to our builder about changing out the standard hollow two panel raised doors for some solid core 5 panel shaker doors We went through Parr Lumber in Spokane Wa to order our doors We went to the showroom and unfortunately were not able to physically see or touch them but that had one on the wall about 10-15ft above our heads The salesman recommended the Redi-prime line since they were going to be painted Redi prime is a very deceiving name Yes they come primed but they are not ready to be painted as we were told The edges were rough and the seams were the pieces were glued together were somewhat wiped of excess glue The actual door edge that will be exposed and where your hand will be was very rough and just appear to be rough cut down Most of the door is MDF something else we were not aware of The painters the builders hired did nothing to prep them and painted over all the imperfections that I can t hold against Simpson but if they were truly ready for paint you can put some blame on them Unless you plan on painting your redi-prime doors a flat off white color prepare to be very disappointed My wife was so excited to see them arrive only to be in tears after they are painted If you hire someone or a builder hires a painter I suggest you spend a couple hours per door preparing them to be painted I wish I had and had not assumed the painter would do it I wanted to add some pictures that show the rough edges the edges were the wood is literally splintering off and the glued seems I will have to spend hours on refinishing and repainting these doors once we move in Had I seen these doors and put my hands on them prior to ordering them I would have gone elsewhere I DO NOT RECOMMEND the shaker doors are not the only ones that have these issues either We also have a double glass doors for the office that also have rough edges and a solid wood exterior door that goes from the house to the garage door that has very rough edges Maybe after a few hours of prep work per door they will look good but paint ready they are not just now

im a contractor and was very dissapointed
im a contractor and was very dissapointed that my 18 doors that cost over 9 thousand dollars had care and finishing instructions on a sticker stuck to the hinge side of the door that doesnt come off very well and leaves part of the sticker and glue residue on the door that will take hours to clean off with a razor knife and cleaner the full sticker cannot be seen and read because the hinge portion took one third of the sticker off they are hemlock stain grade doors other door companies i have recieved doors from are smart enough to put the stickers on the top or bottom when i spoke with several reps of simpson nobody seemed to give a damn except to advise me how to fix the bad situation they had created by putting stickers on the edge of a door one lady said she had been with the company 18 years and stated we dont put stickers on the side of doors then after checking found out she was wrong for the first time in her life HER STATEMENT also one of my 2ft8 doors had a dime size gash in the leading edge that someone thought filling with wood putty would be good enough for a 380 door dont know if this putty will even take stain and i havent examined all doors yet this is the last time i buy from simpson doors
