I bought this crossbow and 4 days later

I bought this crossbow and 4 days later took it out to sight it in Within a handful of shots the acuslide cord started to fray I submitted a ticket with TenPoint As a Canadian customer they won t even deal with me Taking it back to Cabelas I was told it will take 4 to 8 weeks to repair I will now miss bow season Sept 1 I was told I will also have to pay labor for the repair It is likely something inside the acuslide is cutting away at the cord No reason this should happen after a handful of shots Highly disappointed Tenpoint basically politely told me to F off I would not recommend this company whatsoever If their top of the line brand treats people like this then it is likely the lower brands they offer will do the same I will never buy anything from anything this company offers again

I m really disappointed with the Ten Point Viper 430 Crossbow

I m really disappointed with the Ten Point Viper 430 crossbow that I purchased new I have had this crossbow for nearly three months and shot it for the first time today I cocked and shot the crossbow twice without a problem but on the third attempt the arrow wouldn t seat correctly therefore it wouldn t discharge an arrow When I tried to de-cock the crossbow it wouldn t de-cock It appeared that the trigger box was in the dry fire position When I contacted Ten Point s technical support I was instructed to de-cock the crossbow by turning the crank handle forward in a clockwise position and then holding the trigger lock-latch down while turning the crank handle in a counterclockwise motion I told the technician that I already tried that and it didn t work He informed me that I had a more serious problem and I would have to take my crossbow to a service center I took it in immediately and I m happy that I did because I was informed that if the crossbow remained cocked for more than six hours it could permanently lose speed I was told that it could be a loss of 60 feet per second or more Additionally if the crossbow remains cocked too long the string may have to be replaced because it could stretch out I was also informed that if the string isn t changed every two years regardless of its condition it may void the warranty I was informed that string replacement for the Viper 430 costs a little over 200 00 The technician at the archery shop had to disassemble my crossbow in order to de-cock and fix it According to Ten Point the crossbow was over-cocked and it caused internal damage to the cocking and de-cocking device The technician contacted Ten Point for advice and was informed that the damage was my fault because I over-cocked the crossbow therefore Ten Point would not warranty the labor or parts Ten Point also claimed that if their product was defective it would not have worked twice before the malfunction So according to Ten Point if the crossbow works fine the first time it should work forever after that After the repair was completed the crossbow did the exact same thing on the second attempt to shoot it It worked fine the first shot When the trigger box connected to the string and was cranked up to what I thought was the firing position it was actually in the dry fire position and the arrow would not seat or discharge The technician could not understand why it was doing that The technician was then able to de-cock the bow and then cock it again In my opinion the Ten Point Viper 430 crossbow is too fragile undependable and of poor quality I could not in good faith recommend this crossbow to anyone else I would certainly be looking for another brand of crossbow other than Ten Point I spent a lot of money on this over-priced crossbow and since Ten Point doesn t stand behind its warranty it ended up costing me 429 99 for the repair That s 200 00 for labor and 200 00 for a new BLACK cocking and de-cocking device plus tax Ten Point also claims that their crossbows are sighted in at 20 yards at the factory but their owner s manual states Most likely you will want to fine-tune your scope My crossbow shot 10 to the left at 20 yards that s a lot of clicks to the right for an adjustment Ten Point evidently has questionable quality control It should also be noted that not all Ten Point crossbows have the same cocking and de-cocking mechanisms Ten Point makes two variations of the cocking and de-cocking device One is yellow and it is of lower quality while the other one is black and it is supposedly of better quality The cocking device on the Viper 430 is black and in my opinion of questionable quality I kept the old cocking device so others can see how cheaply made it is According to Ten Point s owner s manual the ACUslide cocking device SHOULD remain maintenance free I have a Barnett Buck Commander crossbow that I have had since 2010 13 years and have never had a problem with it I have only changed the string on that crossbow once in 13 years and it has always worked fine I will certainly take that deer hunting next month as a backup just in case my Viper 430 malfunctions again which wouldn t surprise me On the other hand I may just take the Viper 430 as a backup instead In my opinion Ten Point s warranty program is terrible and it appears that they will try to find fault with the person using the crossbow instead of attributing it to a defective product I was informed that Raven crossbows were of better quality than Ten Point crossbows and they are also more popular Maybe products made in China aren t that bad after all

Customer service could be better

Jose Briceno TenPoint Wicked Ridge Serial No Q010152 I purchased a ten point cross bow wicked ridge in 2021 for 769 99 and a warranty for 5 years I ve been hunting all my life and using a ten point crossbow for more than 20 years and I am very familiar in their use I ve always taken good care of my crossbow I ve never dropped it or had any malfunctions I recently bought a new one and have only used it 2 years before the cams both broke on me during some target practice I tried contacting customer service and they have refused to help me because they claim it is my fault and accusing me of misuse I know how to use a crossbow especially one I have been using already for 2 years I had no problem paying for the repair labor but they refuse to help me still and it seems they are just trying to take the easy way out and just point the finger Completely unacceptable and bad customer service
