It looks like a bargain but they find ways to take your money

At drop-off staff from Thrifty spent a very long time examining every inch of the car with a torch until he inevitably found a tiny scuff on wheel trim which he claimed I d caused Said this would cost 27 and re-iterated this amount when I presented my credit card but had added a 49 damage fee which was not mentioned He had kept asking me if I had excess insurance which I did but wouldn t claim on for a small amount and I suspected they added extra charges because they thought I d claim it back on insurance Also on arrival charge for 2nd driver was more than twice as much as quoted as there was nowhere in booking process via broker to state that she was 70yo and car was not as good quality as the one I d booked Raised these issues via email but they just re-stated the charges Won t be using Thrifty in Spain again

Appalling service at FUERTEVENTURA

Appalling service at FUERTEVENTURA airport Queuing for nearly 2 hours to pick up a car that I ve already paid for Every other car hire desk has no queues Told they couldn t serve us at arrival side and shunted onto back of massive queue only for them to start serving from arrival side once we were on back of queue only other side It s not worth the saving of a few pounds to receive this kind of service

Appalling hard sell for their own insurance

Appalling hard sell for insurance repeatedly told them we had annual excess cover but they said it wasn t sufficient and we would have to pay extras if for example their car broke down You also have to provide a receipt for fuel from a service station less than 10km from the airport or they charge you Horrible people avoid them

Thrifty scamed us on 180 euros

We got scamed on 180 euros Thrifty Malaga airport The dealer told me that it was a deposition for fuel if I didn t fill up the reservoar when the car was returned Which I did When I returned the car they told me that I ll get all my money back in 3-10 days Now it seams that he sold me an insurance that I didn t needed I ve allready had an full insurance that I pre payed when I booked the car on autoeurope com Warning warning Uppdate After a long series of emails has an understanding person at Firefly customers care desided to look at my case In the end they believed me and all the irregularities has been resolved EB

SCAM Kept a large part of my deposit Customer service is useless and made up excuses which were nonsense liars Going to try small claims court

I rented a car from thrifty at Malaga airport They said the fuel deposit had not been registered so charged it again I have been charged 300 euros for fuel I have emailed daily only to be told it s my banks fault Total scam Avoid these charlatans at all cost

A fraud and theft company

A fraud and theft company the employees cooperate in stealing and defrauding the customers I rented a car through Carflix and when I arrived the employee told me that I must pay 620 euros as a deposit They just t returned 150 and when I called to ask they told me that I used extended insurance which I did not agreed to purchase moreover my booking includes full insurance

Thrifty - But not for my wallet

I am used to car hire problems in Spain and spend a long time in multi storey at Alicante in bad light trying to find out the damage that they haven t highlighted in their rental agreement For 20 years I have had only 2 issues and I have been reimbursed by the company after providing evidence of their mistakes However today Thrifty got the better of me and on reflection it was almost comical At the point of collection I spent at least 15 mins going round the car to try and evidence damage and was pleased that I had even in the bad light found two damages that were not highlighted in the agreement one of which was substantial damage under the front bumper skirt which on reflection was so so bad and obvious that I cannot believe that they didn t already know about it I was a bit foolish however as at the point of pick up the car was parked tight up between 2 other cars I have previously driven the hire car out of the space to check but foolishly didn t this time round On returning the car the young woman checking the car admittedly in daylight without a car parked alongside took about 15 seconds to find a thin line of about 25cm just below the skirt of f o s door that I hadn t spotted since start of rental My mistake cost me 176 I am of the opinion now sadly that if there are for example 7 damages they will record some but not all so that if you are not astute at point of rental they have a one in three chance of catching you out if you fail to notice as I sadly did I am certain that this damage did not take place during my rental which was about 180km
