Had afternoon tea in the mezzanine booked for 3 30pm the food and service was very good only thing that let it down was they were mopping the floor with a strong smell of disinfectant around us while we were still eating it was before 4 30 so we asked if they could box the desserts up they did not have boxes but gave us tin foil and told us one of the deserts was in a glass so we could not take this Let s hope you take this on board and do the mopping and cleaning when your customers have gone

Xmas experience fail

Overpriced have been to better free Santa experiences decorations are just ornaments from the stock room in their outdoor play area toys were probably 5 each and the Santa was not at all believable And at 20 per child never again

Meteor Black chippings are actually white

Tong Garden Centre have now taken over and refurbished Otley Garden Centre Things have started going bad there already I bought four bags of Meteor Black garden chippings from them We put them out on the garden fabric and in an hour the chippings had turned white I assumed that sunlight turns them white so I threw some water on them and they went black an hour later they were white again When I informed the store the sub-manager s friend said that all chippings have dust on them and that they will gradually go black over a few years He said that was common knowledge I told him that he was talking the excrement of a bull because that isn t common knowledge And I said that if I buy black chippings I expect them to be black all day not white The sub-normal sub-manager agreed to a refund if we brought the pebbles back So now we have to dig them up and bag them No mention of what Otley Garden Centre would now do about mis-representation of a product The Spaghetti Bolognaise from the Food Hall was tasteless as well I usually spend over 500 a year at this place so they won t be getting that any more

Tong Garden Centre Restaurant

The service in the restaurant was not good at all Asked for a type of sandwich due to specific dietary requirements but were told flatly that the kitchen would not accommodate Nice cashier even went to ask but got told in my earshot to just tell him No The app refused to function at all and then had to queue up a second time to place an order Staff need some training in customer service and it was not a great experience

Two of us in cafe Hello Table No 52 Girl on till pleasant enough but a bit Robotised Two flat whites please and 2 sausage and bacon sandwiches on white bread cakes I forget the exact price but very close to 20 Small flat whites at 3-50 each - hot and perfect sandwiches 2 skinny and overdone tasteless sausages in each along with the Tiniest piece of overdone bacon Horrible THEE worst ever wouldn t have given it to our dog My ravenous Son - ate half of his I left all mine - baring one horrible bite Could not be bothered asking for the manager - if there is one Proper bad experience On the positive side I bought for a couple of friends the Afternoon tea in the new mezzanine PERFECT and Thank You they enthused Hence our visit to the Cafe today - Full of confidence and high expectations How wrong we were Apart from the expensive but really good coffee The food was a disaster

We have been satisfied regular customers at Stephen H Smiths Garden centre in Otley It is now part of Tong Garden Centre It has been effectively refurbished It appears to me that the company is recovering the expenditure by charging exorbitant prices particularly sweets and other edibles There are still 86 days until Christmas but most of the area has been taken over by festive fare We will shop elsewhere
