Actually Hotels com handling virus situation better than most agents
I ve been relatively happy with Hotels com and the way they have dealt with COVID-19 especially when compared to other agents I have used in the last few months Whilst it took me a while to find the process I managed to cancel 3 hotel bookings connected with a US trip in April Two of them had been booked as non-cancellable rates so I was very impressed that Hotels com chose to allow cancellation and refund due to the unforeseen circumstances I have received 2 of the 3 refunds to my credit card - so as long as the 3rd one comes through soon then I ll be happy The key to Hotels com s approach has been to enable chatbots to process refunds cancellations thereby meaning there s no need to speak to an agent - which is very difficult due to the volume of calls If you have a booking that needs to be cancelled try the chatbot on their website rather than waiting in a frustrating call centre queue UPDATED 15 5 20 - my 3rd refund has come through now so well done Hotels com This means I have had a full refund for 3 separate bookings affected by the pandemic and all were processed online A lesson for some other booking agents who have let customers down and proof that refunds can indeed be processed on a huge scale even during the challenges of the virus scenario

Refund despite booking non-refundable great service
Booked through Hotels com last November for a Marriott Hotel in Innsbruck this February Late circumstances 1 day before travelling meant we couldn t go and as i d booked a non-refundable booking I enquired as to what my options were for changing the dates The agent on the online chat understood the issue was sympathetic not just like a robot towing the party line which i expected and then contacted the hotel on my behalf He spoke to the receptionist and then the hotel manager keeping me updated via chat as he did so the hotel didn t have any availability on the dates we wanted to change to and to my amazement the hotels com agent managed to get a full refund nearly 700 I was gutted when we couldn t travel and thought we d lose all our money but this was service above and beyond very impressed and as a result i d use them again

Great service
Booked a hotel through hotels comWe got there to find it closed due to Covid19 I called the customer services number and explained the problem At first I thought he was being funny when he said What do you want me to do about it I then realised that he meant did I want a refund or a new hotel When I said that we would like another hotel he said No problem and put me through to a gentleman who was great He asked if we wanted another hotel in the same area As we were travelling down south we looked for one half way to our final destination I said we would pay the difference but he said that the costs would be met by hotels com There wasn t much difference in price but the costs would have been met by them no matter the difference in price Great service from a great team who truly did look after us

Finally a travel company treating customers well
I only ever usually think to review if I ve had a bad experience - but given that during Covid customer service is setting apart the good companies from the bad I felt it was important to highlight some good too My hotel was closed and so cancelled bookings I logged in to Hotels com and once within the correct time frame they were working 1 month ahead i believe I was able to apply for the full cash refund absolutely hassle free using their live chat tool They confirmed that I would receive a refund within 30 days both on email and on the live chat Compared to other travel sites which have involved lengthy phone calls endless arguments about credit and force majeure - this was a breath of fresh air and honestly felt like a weight off my shoulders

Hotels com are brilliant
I used Hotels com for a hotel booking en-route from our holiday in the south of France We were scheduled to stay in Rouen There was an issue with our hotel when we turned up the business had failed and it was closing no fault of hotel com I called them and within 20 minutes of me calling they had booked me into another hotel in the center of Rouen If I had booked direct with the hotel I would have been in trouble As I booked through hotels com they sorted it all out and were so concerned with what had happened they absorbed the additional cost of the room Really happy with them they sorted it all out efficiently and in a relaxed manner which is what we needed after a long journey Well done Hotels com
